The curse of Wolf Isle depends on the Macquarie clan to marry first before having children, but the Isle has few residents. Beck Macquaire rescues Eliza Wentworth and her companions left on a deserted island. Once again the pirate, Jandeau is creating havoc. Eliza was held captive after Jandeau killed her father and mother when she was twelve. Soon after, she was rescued by a privateer and grew up on his ship. Eliza is drawn to Beck and decides he is the one, but will she stay or will she go and leave him with a broken heart. A fast paced plot with descriptive sex.

This book was just so good and I just lost myself in the story. I will most definitely be reading more books by this wonderful author.

More Macquarie brothers? Yes! Please! It is Beck's turn to find the love of his heart. However, the journey is not easy, not for Beck, his family, Wolf Isle, or his lady love, Eliza. Like the first book in the series, I couldn't read this book fast enough. It is full of action, intrigue, danger, dastardly villains, a surprise or two, and some romance thrown in. Beck now has a new ship, ready to search and bring down the pirate, Claude Jandeau, whom we met in book 1. Eliza also has a score to settle with him and he with her. Who will win the battle? The battle on the seas and the battle of hearts. Next up in the alphabet brothers (their names are alphabetical from oldest to youngest) is Calum. I know it will not disappoint.

Eliza and Beck were beautiful characters! I fell hard for them from the start and by the end of the story? I was ready for more! Hot highlanders, and the women they love.....???? YES PLEASE!!! McCollum's writing style is magnificent and captivating! Highly recommended!

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book 2 in the Isle of Wolf series. In this one we have a woman that has been tramutized but has a tough exterior and a man looking for love but not sure where to find it. They come together with sparks. I did like the story but the characters live a little to be desired. I was not a fan of Eliza she just was annoying at times but over all a good read.

I read the first book in the series and was excited when I saw another book out for those hot Scots on Wolf Isle! In this book, Beck rescues Eliza and is she a feisty one! Used to being a pirate and not at all a lady, I don't think Beck is too sure of her.

There is also the curse to content with so these brothers have to be very careful not to break any hearts and condemn their clan.

Lots of drama, action and intrigue in this book so it was fun to read about this unusual couple and their HEA!

I am sad because I love Heather McCollum's work, love her Highlanders, but I couldn't get into this on, at all. It just didn't do it for me.

Pirate + Highlander? Well bring it on! This is my first book by this author, but it’s the second in the series. I had some trouble following along and connecting with the characters. Maybe reading the first one would help me. Anyways, The pirate is our heroine, which I love! She’s Eliza and a fighter-survivor. She’s tough in a way that’s difficult to love her but she pushes through to find her way to love. Our hero is the Highlander, Beck. He’s got to marry and overcome the curse on his homeland. Love him! He’s patient and good in the way that he’s able to see the value of our heroine. Great story! I recommend reading book 1 first. I think I’ll do just that! I’m interested to see what will happen in book 3 with the other brothers.

Ahoy, my fellow romance book loving friends! This author really added wind to the sails of this stand-alone but connected to a family curse series that is matching some verra handsome, remarkable, alpha protective lads to perfect for them sassy, leading lady loves.

Having enjoyed the first book, which did an awesome job charting the course for this series to keep sailing on, I fell hook, line, and sinker for Beck (the alpha protective, verra determined, good guy hero) and Eliza (the sassy, feisty, courageous, loyal to the bone, pirate life heroine) as their love story unfolded seamlessly across the pages.

There is some graphic steam, life threatening drama where both of these characters are put to a true test of courage, love, and self sacrifice, but most importantly, romance as they realize they cannot live without one another.

So here's to hoping you enjoy this tale as much as I did and that the next book will be as equally entertaining.

Title: The Highlander's Pirate Lass, Series: The Brothers of Wolf Isle (Book 2), Author: Heather McCollum, Pages: 250, stand-alone but part of a series, alpha protective determined good guy hero, sassy, feisty, take charge, loyal, pirate life heroine, a couple very graphic smexy scenes, writing flowed & kept me engaged, eventual evil bad guy drama, virgin heroine, no OM/OW drama, romance safe IMO, series I enjoy.

Book 1 - The Highlander's Unexpected Proposal (Lark & Adam)
Book 2 - The Highlander's Pirate Lass

Enjoyable second book of the series. The heroine in this story really makes the hero work for her heart and I was not sure there was going to be a HEA between the two passionate characters. Enjoyed seeing characters from book one. Heather McCollum’s stories are always worth reading, can’t wait for the next book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I will say that I have read the other book in the series and it was ok, this one was so much better to me.
It is truly an adventure story. I thought the characters were so well done, you got to know just enough of them to understand them and it was nice to have the whole cast of Macquarie brothers around, plus some others that were from the first book. And the pirate captain of Jandeau is just so bad you really want him to get his comeuppance. I felt the author really did her research on pirates at this time and wasn't afraid to talk about the nasty things they truly did.
Eliza was fiesty and unfiltered but I think the author really did right by her and gave her an innocence yet a worldliness on some things. How else could a girl raised by pirates act otherwise?
The steam level is high up there when it comes to those scenes.
If I had to give one critique it would be the repetition about the curse. That is done to death so much in the first few chapters.
There really wasn't much closure at the end, it ended rather too abruptly I felt.
I highly recommend this book, and even if you weren't a fan of the first book, give this one a chance. It can be read as a standalone but I felt it helps to have read the first as many characters show up from the first one

Heather McCollum returns to Wolf Isle and its curse for The Highlander's Pirate Lass. Eliza Wentworth has been part of Captain John's crew since her family was tortured and murdered by the Pirate Jandeau and subsequently saved by Captain John. Now she helps Captain John rescue other women and children left behind by the pirate's depraved activities. But Captain John abandons Eliza and a few others on an unknown island, she's found by Beck Macquarie.

Beck is immediately suspicious about Eliza's story but that doesn't stop him from rescuing her and taking her back to Wolf Isle.

He becomes smitten by Eliza and falls for her spunky attitude and the fact she wants him to teach her the "ways of love" It's easy to see where this is all going, except Beck loves sailing and has no intentions of settling down, even if the curse says he must do that to restore Wolf Isle to its former glory. The same is true for Eliza -- she's devoted to saving others like herself and Captain John, so it takes some work for Beck and Eliza to truly be together even though they both have a lot in common.

Even though this is the second book in the series, it works well as a standalone. Readers of Heather McCollum's companion series may recognize some characters as well, but it is not necessary to read book one in the series to enjoy this story.

This fast-paced story had my attention from the start. There's plenty of action and adventure as one might expect with pirates and it's all just so entertaining. From the romance between Beck and Eliza to the pirate Jandeau and Captain John and his crew, I loved it all! So much fun and just the kind of historical romance that I like with lots of steamy moments and suspense.

I appreciate the author including a glossary for the foreign languages used in the book alongside its supposed-to-be meanings. Other than that, this book is quite a mess for me. Initially, I felt intrigued by the premise of this book, especially when you put highlander and pirate in a title, that really piques my interest. However, the execution in this book is a bit disjointed and all over the place. The writing style is hard to follow at times and the characters are hard to sympathize with. I also did not feel any connection or chemistry between the hero and the heroine at all throughout this entire book. I'm quite disappointed because I expected to love this book a lot, but unfortunately, the way the story is executed did not live up to my expectations for this one.

This is the second book in The Brothers of Wolfe Isle series and follows Beck and Eliza. While I definitely enjoyed this book, I have to say it wasn't my favorite Highlander romance. Let's delve into the details!

So Beck is one of the Macquarie brothers and as such, is forced to endure the consequences of the curse placed on his clan. All of the Macquarie brothers have to discover what love is, get married, and have kids! No bastards allowed or the island will never be re-populated. Beck is such a great character - he's sweet and passionate, but he's not ready to settle down yet! When he meets Eliza Wentworth, he finds his attraction to her impossible to ignore.

Eliza is a terror on the sea and has earned her badass reputation after overcoming incredible hardships. She has no filter, saying exactly what's on her mind. I found her "unladylike" commentary hilarious most of the time. I enjoyed the connections formed between Beck and Eliza, but wasn't totally in love with their relationship. It had some good points, but also some meh points. I didn't find myself grasping onto every word they said to each other and hoping that it would all work out for the two of them. It was likeable, but not loveable.

The storyline itself had some interesting elements. The pirate element was a unique take for a historical romance, and I enjoyed it. The book moved along at a steady pace, and I was able to finish it pretty quickly. I definitely liked it, but it just wasn't my favorite McCollum book. I encourage you guys to give it a try though and form your own opinions!

Series premise: Brothers promise to repopulate their ancestral island after a cure makes the inhabitants all leave… the only way to break the curse was for the laird’s family to find love!

I was eagerly waiting for this, The Highlanders Pirate Lass, the second book in the Brothers of Wolfe Isle series since I devoured the first book last October!!

And it did not disappoint! Highlander Beck Macquarie may not be the Laird, but he still needs to do his part to beat the curse: find love and father no ba$tards. Well that gets tougher when he finds an enticing pirate lass on an island. Eliza has been out hunting the infamous evil pirate when Beck steps into the picture and distracts her with thoughts of passion… she convinces him to give her lessons in love, even though she she is determined not to be tied down.

Now Beck must choose between his family promises and the lady he has fallen for!

This book has it all- hot Highlanders, plenty of steamy passion and high seas adventure!
I loved seeing all the bothers back together again and their camaraderie… I’m already excited to see what bother will find love next!

3.5 Hearts I read very few Highlander romance books but Heather McCollum is one I enjoy. McCollum never has a “damsel in distress” feel to her stories even if the heroine needs help (which we all do) sometimes. But, I have never enjoyed pirate romance. Something doesn’t appeal to me with that genre but since it was McCollum I picked up this story.

With all that being said, this was not one of my favorites by McCollum but for a pirate romance it wasn’t bad. I never really enjoyed Eliza. She is so harsh and self-centered. Beck is another thing altogether. I adored him. He was so sweet and cared so much for Eliza. Was willing to do anything she needed. While she treated him like a doormat.

A part of me kept hoping Beck would realize he deserved better and some sweet lass would steal him away from Eliza. But, of course, this is a romance so a HEA happens and while not my favorites by McCollum I enjoyed the story.

Looking for an engrossing Highlander story that will leave you sleep-deprived? Well, let me suggest reading 'The Highlander's Pirate Lass' by Heather McCollum. This is a book that will take you on a fast-paced and dynamic adventure that will take you to an exciting past, where love and passion go over the mountain, while danger lurks on all sides. Book two in The Brothers of Wolf Isle was definitely worth the wait and anticipation. Gripping from beginning till the end, this is definitely a book you will not put down till the very last page.
Sometimes true love is where we least expect it. One storm, one unusual sight, a deserted island that hides secrets.....and Beck and Eliza see each other for the first time. The girl has a plan and a mission and doesn't need love. And the man who believes in himself and his ideals, but wants her against all the odds. What will happen when unplanned feelings try to change their plans? Will Beck manage to keep his beloved by his side?
Heather McCollum definitely knows how to weave a story that bewitches with its unique mix of an interesting story and lovable characters. And each character captivates with its uniqueness, we now have two stubborn creatures that simply creep into our hearts and make us cheer for their happy ending. Eliza is a character we just have to adore. With incredible determination, drive and ambition, she is more than a worthy heroine for Beck. And he is not a weak man, but a hero with incredible self-confidence and courage, gentle and so strong at the same time. And the connection between these two is a real treat for the readers, from the witty banter, fierce confrontations to the sizzling chemistry, everything between these two is absolute perfection. And as we slowly get to the end, the reader wishes the book did not end or at least has the next installment in this gripping historical series at hand.
Definitely, a steamy, emotional, page-turning Highlander romance that will delight every historical romance reader.

This was a fast paced, swashbuckling read. While I would have liked a little bit more background information about Wolf Isle at the beginning (since I hadn’t read the previous book in this series) it wasn’t vital to my enjoyment of this book. I loved Eliza Wentworth and Beck Macquarie. Both were strong sympathetic characters. I laughed out loud at Eliza’s thirst for knowledge and her unabashed way of asking for ‘lessons’. Lots of action (the pirate ships’ battle!), some steamy moments, some tender moments and a bit of mystery kept me engaged from the start. Great read!

Since the vicious French pirate Claude Jandeau murdered her family, Eliza Wentworth has spent the rest of her life at sea with her rescuer and pseudo-father, Captain John Pritchert, helping others who have been kidnapped. She’s certainly no lady and has no intention of ever marrying, but when she finds herself stranded longer than was planned on a remote Scottish island, even she must admit to needing help. She’s even more annoyed when that aid comes from a man she is immediately attracted to.

Beck Macquarie is taken with Eliza’s unconventionality from the start. Given the curse on his clan and their isle, he hasn’t been able to meet many women and he needs to marry and raise children to break it, but Eliza is not the woman to settle down with. She makes it clear that she intends to return to the sea as soon as she’s able and he knows he should leave her alone but finds he can’t stay away.

When Eliza asks Beck to educate her in the activities men and women enjoy in the bedroom while she waits on his family’s isle, Beck can’t bring himself to refuse her. As they come to know each other, their past hurts are revealed and Eliza must choose between the freedom she thought she always wanted and the love she’s unexpectedly found with Beck.

This was a solid, original story with a lovely and unique setting. I really liked honorable, steady Beck as a hero, especially the fact that he wasn’t a womanizing rogue. Eliza, however, was rather rough, which I suppose is to be expected since she mostly grew up on a privateer vessel, but still. She seemed slightly overdrawn in her crassness and too open about things. She was too happy to say things just for shock factor. The most frustrating thing though was how she had no problem showing a ton of loyalty to Captain John and virtually none to Beck. It seemed that much of the time Beck did all the giving and Eliza basically just used him for sex. Possible spoiler here: She even stayed away rather than caring for him when he was injured saving her, which felt like a huge missed opportunity for some serious romance and a lovely declaration of feelings. Instead, Beck was always having to meet her on her terms, rather than her being willing to come to him. It fit her character for the most part, but I did find it frustrating. This book was also quite short, so parts of it felt rushed and I would’ve liked a bit more open communication between Beck and Eliza just to solidify the permanency of their relationship. Nonetheless, this was an enjoyable story overall and I love the setting and concept of this series, so I’m looking forward to Callum’s book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
