Thanks NetGalley for the preview!
This book was a whirlwind! There were so many details and jumping around. But it was engaging and interesting. I wish the epilogue would have been a little more. I really enjoyed the characters.
One Night Only by Catherine Walsh is a great fit for readers looking for a heartwarming and humorous story about finding love in unexpected places, set against the backdrop of Irish weddings and romantic mishaps.
I absolutely loved story of a one night stand turned into chance encounter at a wedding. Funny, steamy, heart-warming, and who can't resist an Irish heartthrob!
The narration of the audiobook was fantastic! No complaints there.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for offering this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own
Fun premise for a story I enjoyed but did not love. How awkward would it be to have a one-night stand with a hot guy with an Irish accent only to have him show up at your best friend’s wedding because he is the groom’s brother? For Sarah Anderson, this is exactly what happens.
I liked Sarah for the most part, but I thought her aversion to relationships became tiring and annoying. The reason for her aversion was completely understandable, but get over it, already! Not every guy is your ex who dumps you after you tell him you love him or your mother who bailed.
Declan Murphy, on the other hand, was a great character. He has looks, charm, a great sense of humor, loves his family and has a fantastic work ethic. Sarah, and every dang unattached woman in this book, should be clamoring to catch Declan’s eye. In spite of their initial hook-up, Sarah and Declan have great chemistry and, when she isn’t trying to ruin it, what it takes to make a go of a relationship.
Lots of great supporting characters add to the story and it should be a keeper shelf book, right? I went with the audiobook edition and enjoyed the narration by Jessica Regan. Her Irish accent was lovely and her American accent was good, though I caught hints of her Irish lilt in Sarah’s voice at times. I will check out more of Catherine Walsh’s stories, especially if the protagonist male is anything like Declan.
I would have loved to see Sarah cut loose a little bit and let her hair down, which you would think she does considering she has no problem picking up and sleeping with men she just met. Unfortunately, not Sarah. She’s wound tighter than a straight man’s butt cheeks in prison. Hopefully with Declan around, she will learn to lighten up, grab life by the horns and live in the moment.
My Final Verdict: Fans of the romantic comedy, chick-lit and women’s fiction genres will likely enjoy this book. Books set in interesting locales such as New York and Ireland also hold great appeal.
I loved the romance between Sarah and Declan! The story was witty and humorous. I always love books set in Ireland. This book just left me with happy feelings.
I loved this book so much i immediately bought the paperbook. It is a book that playes like a movie in my mind and felt like i was in ireland. The narrators were amazing and loved the story.
I just fell in love! This author and narrator are now auto-buys for me!
The quick takeaway for me was that if you're going to an Irish wedding, be prepared to see the your last one night stand there as a guest!
Okay, time for the details...
I love everything Ireland, and this book made me reminisce. But, I especially like whatever the hell trope this is. This feels so niche in that you had a one night stand with somebody, and then y'all both show up at a wedding across the globe in Ireland!
I was pleasantly surprised that the book didn't end when they came back from the Irish wedding, that there was a transition from 'vacation mode' back into 'reality mode', and watching as everything unfolded.
The MCs are both straightforward, messy, chaotic, realistic, and perfect all at once. And their interactions had me laughing out loud, trying to catch my breath!
The only thing that could have made it better would have been to see this entire storyline from Declan's perspective as well.
This narrator had me rolling! There were scenes where Sarah's roommate would be frantic and panicked, and I loved, loved, loved how the narrator was able to convey that in her voice! It sounded like people I know, or even how I would have sounded in those situations. She was also able to voice some fantastic Irish accents, in my opinion.
Thank you NetGalley for this advanced listener's copy!
Really well written romance, which really builds the chemistry between the 2 main characters without needing to be too graphic! Couldn’t stop listening. The kind of characters you miss after the book finishes.
I loved this book so much.
It's cheesy and romantic and I want more.
There are cute fluffy bits mixed with steaminess and most of all the characters actually talk to each other.
I could not stop listening and did not want it to end.
Fantastic romance, one-night stand to romance, featuring a wedding.
I received this from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
I’m a sucker for a cheesy rom com, and this didn’t disappoint. It was cute, funny and well written.
One Night Only by Catherine Walsh is one of my favorite romance books of all time!! And I used to be a member of RWA and the Washington Romance Writers so I've read a lot of romances and had an insider's view into many books.
I listened to the audiobook version so that I could have something interesting over my 3-hour, one-way trip. It was a fun ride because of the great storytelling. I thought I must have been near the end when I returned. I was wrong.
The book was much longer and more interesting than the shorter romances I'm used to. I was SO happy to get to spend so much time with these characters.
It's incredible that this is the first book by this author. It is masterful. No joke. For a fun, flirty romance, you want to read this now. I can't wait for her next book, releasing Valentine's Day 2022. I will be preordering it and might have to listen to this one again.

What a fun book to read. I really loved this. A little bit predictable but enjoyable all the same. Well written and easy to read. Definitely recommend it.
One Night Only is a quick read, light quirky rom-com. I loved the Irish influence but felt like the plot was lacking a little.
Sarah is at her best friend's wedding in Ireland. She is shocked to find that the groom's brother is the one-night stand a few days earlier in New York. Sarah doesn't do relationships, and seeing Declan again doesn't fit in with her plans. Can he convince her that they're meant for more than one night together?
Thanks #NetGalley for an advance read copy of this book.
This was a good book, a great debut. Would definitely read (listen) to this book again. I like that someone who was against her one night stand turning into more was convinced otherwise. The narration was fabulous, I felt like I was in Ireland!
This was only my second audio book and unlike the first, I just couldn't relax and enjoy it. I found the narrator's voice to be jarring and this took away from the story; I just couldn't finish it.
I purchased the book instead. Its funny, engaging and has characters I can relate to, when reading the words.
I have given 1 star for the audio version but would give 5 for the actual book; Audio books are just not for me. .
I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the free audio copy in exchange for an honest review.
The whole book was so adorable and fun and gives you all the summer vibes. Declan is absolutely hilarious but surprisingly a lot more serious about relationships than the all around more serious Sarah. From their first meeting to a wedding to nights on a roof, they have a real Rollercoaster of a relationship. While it is a very rom-com-y story, there are also more serious parts to it, that really balanced it out and kept the book from being too light and breezy.
The narrator was great and just for the Irish accent alone I highly recommend the audiobook. With fall in full swing it's the perfect companion to making some hand-made Christmas presents and think about warmer months.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
It was really hard for me to get into this so I think audiobooks are just not for me. Declan is funny and really sweet, Sarah is a bit of a mess but I think the two were a perfect fit. I just wish I had read it instead of getting it as an audiobook because I think it would have been a lot more enjoyable for me.
This was such a great book. So fun and entertaining. I haven’t read anything by this author before but I will for sure check out anything they do because it was that good. If you want a fun read, this is the book for you. Plus I really enjoyed the narrator as well.

I fell in love.
That´s it.
Declan is what I want in my life.
This book made me laugh and is really cute and light, perfect for a summer read.
I was waiting for a rom-com that would sweep me off my feet and this audiobook did the job amazingly.
Thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for giving me this great book.
I listened to 30% of this, and I was really bored. The story just moved really sow. I don't think I can make myself finish it. I may try to pick up a paper copy, but I was just not into the audiobook.
