They thought they had a one night only but sometimes life... works different than you want.
This was fun and quirky and a really good book for summer.
I had the chance to read and listened to the audio book and was a great experience! I feel this book is perfect for the audiobook because it feels lighter and funnier and it doesn't felt as long as when you're only reading it.
The narrator is amazing so kudos to her! She was funny and made the book a lot more entertaining.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to listened to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

At her best friend's wedding in Ireland, Sarah is shocked to find that the groom's brother is the one-night stand she kicked out of bed a few days earlier in New York. Sarah doesn't do relationships, and seeing Declan again doesn't fit in with her plans. Can he convince her that they're meant for more than one night together?

This is a warm, funny, and deeply emotional romantic comedy. Declan is patient with Sarah without letting her walk all over him. The well-developed secondary characters were fun and helped make the world feel rich and detailed. The narration of the audiobook was excellent—I usually listen at 2x normal speed, and I had no trouble understanding the Irish accents.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

When Sarah goes to Ireland to her best friend's wedding, the last thing she expected was to find her one night stand from New York to be the brother of the groom. Will she break her rule of one night only with Declan or go back to New York and forget all about him?

This was the perfect romcom. The chemistry between the main characters was palpable, they were well rounded and even the side characters weren't one dimensional, and the love story was cute and believable. A great summer read!

I listened to the audiobook and as someone who doesn't have much experience with the irish accent I really enjoywd what the narrator did, going between it and american.

Sarah Anderson doesn't do relationships. In fact, she's only one rule - no second dates. So imagine her surprise when she lands in Ireland for her best friend's wedding only to discover that the best man and the groom's brother, Declan Murphy, is none other than her last one-night stand. I mean, there's a reason one-night stands are one-night stands - you're not supposed to see them again. But, even after returning to New York, Sarah can't seem to forget about Declan's cheeky smile and matching attitude. Was he for One Night Only or could he be The One?

Scrolling through NetGalley and my whole body physically stopped I was instantly drawn to this book and had to request it. This story embodies the Rom-Com genre with the laughs, endless sarcasm and the little bumps on the way. And, let me tell you, it describes an Irish wedding and the family dynamics perfectly! Declan's Irish brand of sarcasm and wit speak to me on a whole other level and I loved that he was the romantic of the two. In terms of romance it's very much fade to black but how it was written leaves you itching for more of Declan and Sarah.
I feel privileged that I get to promote an absolutely fabulous debut novel by fresh Irish talent and I can't wait to see what Catherine brings us next.
Now, I only started listening to audio books in June but I was absolutely blown away by Jessica Regan! I have never been more invested in a book before based off a narrator. Her accents were incredible and she brought the story to life, playing out parts of it flawlessly. It honestly felt like listening to a movie on the big screen. And Hollywood, if you're reading this, you need to make a film adaptation, like yesterday!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookuture for giving me the chance to review this book for release. Perfect for fans of Lindsey Kelk, Jo Watson and Emma Heatherington.

One Night Only or Much Ado About Nothing.

Also, I'm incredibly sick of books in which people decide that the luuuuuuv each other after 30h they've spent together. I mean, C'MON MAN!

I found this book cute at first, true, but I grew more and more irritated by the main character. She is one of the stupidest main characters ever.

First of all, the subtitle was extremely misleading! The wedding was, like, 10% of the book! So all that "her bff's wedding" bs is a very, VERY tiny part of the story.

So, the MC was with this one guy ans she swore to never love again. Now, through the whole book she is sulking and calling the guy idiot and what not and you think that there is some really tragic story behind all that, like that he was cheating on her with her mom or something like that, but then, after 70% of the book, we find out that this little b was with the guy for 15 MONTHS (and 4 days) and then he broke up with her because he didn't love her. How tragic 😔

Now, there is also this one guy who seems super nice and super into this idiot girl who is leading him on and playing hot-and-cold throughout the whole book. So I don't understand how guys in romance books always have patience for that crap, but that is seriously stupid and so unreal.

Anyway, she finally decides that it is okay to give this nice guy whom she likes a chance, but get this - IT IS NOT, because she thinks that he still likes his ex!

I just wanted to slap her and shake the guy and tell him GOOD RIDDANCE, but of course, she comes to apologize in a sexy dress and he forgives her because they love each other how original the end👏

This was such a fun read, perfect for the summer. I found the book really funny and cute, made me laugh so much. Although I did find the main character Sarah annoying towards the end because of her insecurity. My review is on the audiobook version, I didn’t like the voice of the narrator that much but still enjoyed the story. Overall a lovely rom com to read.

Many thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for my advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

This audiobook is really fun. I listened to it a lot while doing my everyday chores and it is its fault that people looked at me as if I was mad as I started laughing in the middle of the supermarket. The book tells a nice story in a funny way. Of course you know how it will end but that does not matter at all as the way it is getting to that ending is the important factor. And that way is a good one. To be honest the main protagonist Sarah sometimes really annoyed me and I wanted to shout at her to not make the stupid decision but make the right one. Knowing her story her reactions are of course understandable but nonetheless sometimes really hard to take. Especially as Declan Murphy is sooooooo charmingly written. Especially enjoyable was the banter between the two protagonists.
I also very much enjoyed Jessica Regan’s narration as she managed to show the different accents and people without being too exaggerated. So you can hear that Declan is for Ireland and Sarah from the US. Maybe it is not as perfect as if you had two different speakers from those two countries but to me is sounded really good.
The book is a perfect feel good book which is excellent to listen to. I would recommend it to people – to be honest to mostly women as the book seems to be a book version of a „chick flick“ (like for example The Holiday) in a very positive way – who want to be entertained, have a lovely love story and enjoy easy to listen to audiobooks. It is the perfect summer vacation listening experience.

This was fun, cute, and a wee bit sexy. I loved the narrator, Jessica Regan’s voice for both Sarah and Declan and I think hearing the Irish accents really put this over the top for me. Sarah is a spunky professional living in the big apple who enjoys one night stands only to discover her most recent “one night only” conquest is in the same wedding party as her. Gasp! Yup it seems like another outlandish coincidence but seeing how it unwinds it really does work.

I loved both, Sarah and Declan, they had their own hang ups, Sarah more so than Declan but she worked through them like a trooper. However, I really wish we had some chapters from Declan’s point of view, he was such an interesting character. Plus I love seeing how both characters push through their hang ups to find and keep that connection with each other.

It gets a bit slow in the middle but Will makes it totally worth it, plus it really helps you understand Sarah’s headspace so the entire climax makes sense. There were some sexy moments but didn’t really dive into any detail (which was a bit disappointed). All in all this was a great debut novel for Catherine Walsh.

Rom-Com Check List:
Super hot leading roles: CHECK!!
Outlandish & adorable meet-cute: Check
Interesting Love Trope: Check – One night stand is in the same wedding party
Quick-witted fun banter: Double Check – these two are so cheeky and fun together, very much
Hilarity: Check, not a crazy amount but enough to make you chuckle every once in a while
Cheesy & endearing love confessions: Check, but in their unique brand of
Fun montage-able moments: Checkish, mostly in Ireland
Sexy love scenes: Checkish – theres is a few hot moments but does not fully dive into a sex scene which was okay but was a bit of a let down as there was so much build up
Funny quirky sidekicks: Check! Most of the side characters were amazing, but I found her BFF a bit lack luster, Will on the other hand was the absolute best Heartbreak &/OR betrayal: Checkish – mostly self imposed by the main characters
Happily Ever After: Check! The Epilogue was adorable
Movie Adaption?: YES PLEASE!
Recommend?: YES!! This was fun and sweet, and I loved both Sarah (we share the same type of humour and get railed up the same way) and Declan (who was a fairly realistic for a Rom-Com dream boat with the sexiest grin and accent)!!

I received an ARC of this audiobook to listen to through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
One Night Only by Catherine Walsh and narrated by Jessica Regan was delightful to listen to. The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life and I enjoyed it immensely.
Sarah Anderson had her heart broken in her first serious relationship and since then her dating history has been one and done. When she flies to Ireland for the wedding of her best friend she’s just a wee bit shocked to discover that the hot Irish guy she kicked out of her bed in New York just a couple of days ago is the younger brother of the groom and also in the wedding party. Declan Murphy knows that he wants more from Sarah and he’s not about to give up just yet. However he too had his heart broken and so as much as he desires more from Sarah he’s hesitant to risk all. When they return to New York, and Sarah walks into the bar where he works, he’s hopeful until he realizes that she’s on a date with someone else and yet… This was a funny and charming story with the perfect balance of steam, angst and humour, strong supporting characters and a heroine and hero who have you cheering for their hard-won HEA.

Now, let me tell you that I've been in the hunt for this book for ages, not this book specifically but a smutless adult romance novel. And oh boy, was. it. GOOD!!!!
It was GOOD, Y'all, I loved every minute of it, everything was mostly perfect, the romance, the unlikable main character, the Irish cutie and all. This was delicious!!
I'm not a avid romance reader but I like me some cuteness every once in a while, and this one didn't disappoint.
The only "not so positive" thing I have to say about the story is I wish we got a thorough description of Declan and I wish her revelation about her dad was handled earlier on and through out the story. But, overall, I had such a Fun time, I devoured the audiobook in 2 days.

A cute, well paced rom-com.

Sarah only does one night stands. No emotion, no commitment. One morning, she has a hard time kicking out a hot guy with an Irish accent. Two days later, arriving for her best friend's wedding in Ireland, who does she run into? Declan. The one-night stand. He is the groom's brother and best man. Sarah has a strict one-night-only rule. But Declan still wants her. And she is pulled towards him. She fights it. But should she continue to fight it?

This book is cute and held my interest, but I wasn't blown away, either. A good read, but nothing remarkable.

I listened to the audiobook. I'm fairly certain the narrator is Irish, or at least English. The story is told from Sarah's POV (Sarah is an America). The narrator's American accent is fine and believable, BUT she often pronounces words the Irish/English way. Schedule is a good example. (pronounced with Shed-U-el instead of sked-u-al) I found it more cute than distracting though.

Overall a cute read and worth your time. This is a debut author and I would pick up another book by her.

I received a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I knew from reading the description I was going to love this book. And after listening to it, it would make a great movie. This book makes me want to visit Ireland even though I’m Irish and I’ve always lived here! I think it just reminds me of Irish life pre-covid. The chats with family and neighbours, visits to each other’s houses or even the pub. And the accuracy of an Irish wedding!

This is a romcom but not in a fluffy way. There’s depth to all the characters. Even the secondary characters add positively to the story. They weren’t just fillers added in to progress things along for the main character. Annie, the bride, is hilarious the night before the wedding. And the Irish mammy!!! We all know the meddling Irish mammy! Claire, the roommate’s, storyline holds it own. She’s not just there in the background to add support and commentary to Sarah and her exploits.

There’s Declan, the handsome, charming brother of the groom. His Irish charm is evident from the very first chapter. And his wind up skills are second to none! Such a character! His interactions with Sarah are priceless. And their chemistry is easy to see.

Sarah, our main character, is an architect in New York and she enjoys one night stands - no second dates; no commitments. Unlike other romance novels, Sarah is the one allergic to commitment. I really liked this take on the genre. I flew through this audiobook needing to see how this would end. Such a rollercoaster!

I love the narration from Jessica Regan. Easy to listen to and she switches between characters and both accents at ease.

What a debut this is! This was so well written. A good mix of romance, comedy and actual reality. I honestly can’t wait for Catherine’s next book.

Sarah is absolutely determined to stick to one night stands rather than get into a relationship that will certainly end in heartbreak. So when she wakes up to find handsome Declan in her bed, she promptly kicks him out. But then she happens to bump into him at her best friend's wedding, on an entirely different continent. She is the maid of honor, and he is the groom's brother. Will Sarah be able to stick to her one night only rule, or is this fate? 🍀🍺❤️

This was a very fun read! I really enjoyed this and recommend it to all romance lovers! I absolutely loved Declan! And I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading this! Such a strong debut from Catherine Walsh! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Is this the start of something special for cautious Sarah and charming Declan, or is it just a one-time thing?

This was a fantastic read, perfect summer holiday escapism. I expected it to be good but knew it was excellent when I was chuckling away to myself as I read. It’s a heartfelt, funny romance and just what I needed right now!
I absolutely fell in love with Declan (who wouldn’t?) and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for an uplifting, well-written romance with believable, relatable and brilliant characters. Props to the audio narrator too for doing such a good job of bringing the characters beautifully to life. 5*

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. This was my first audiobook in so long and I hadn’t realized how much I missed audiobooks. This book had some things I absolutely loved, including a sex-positive outlook. The female protagonist is a woman who enjoys her sex life and does not feel bad for doing so, which is not very common in books. The best part, it isn’t made to be some big thing that she has had casual flings and one-night stands and the characters around her don’t slut-shame her for it. Anyway, I found this book very endearing and loved the whole running into your one-night stand trope. Imagine running into them in another country though, at your best friend’s wedding. I really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters and liked the plot as well. I do wish the characters had been a bit more forthcoming, but it wouldn’t be a rom-com if they were upfront about everything. There were things that didn’t sit well with me in this story but at the end of the day, it was an enjoyable book.

This is a story about Sarah going to her best friends wedding in Ireland where she runs into her last one night stand.

Sarah is a girl who doesn't fo relationships she had been burned before and only does one night stands. Now when she's faced spending time for her best friends husband's brother feelings start happening the more time they spend together. Fast forward back to NY back to her regular life and she can't stop thinking about him. Then she keeps running into him. Will he be the one to make her open her heart back up. Or another let down. This was a funny romance with a lot of will they won't they and getting over her past. He has a past hes coming to terms with.

This was a cute read and when I needed something between fantasy this hut the spot. I liked there dynamic. I didn't like she was down on herself but it was a solid 3.5 stars read I know people are going to love this story when they get there hands on it

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a chance to listen and for a honest review.

Sarah and Declan’s story was so cute. Not overly sexy, and funny at times, it was a simple, fun read. I thought it ran a little long and there were a few loose plot strings. Overall, a fun beach read and the narrator was wonderful!

DNF at 40%
- 2 stars

I contemplated whether I should leave a star rating at all since I didn't finish the book. However, I know if I continued the story, my rating would be lower. I applaud myself for getting this far because, after the first chapter, I was honestly so bored.

The writing hooked me from the start - but the storyline & characters didn't. I couldn't connect with Sarah (she annoyed me SO MUCH), or any character for that matter, I just didn't care about them at all. The connection between Sarah and Declan felt forced for me. It was like the author was trying too hard at making me like both characters which did the opposite for me.

A good attempt from the author on their debut novel but the book fell short for me. It failed to pull me in and it felt mediocre.

3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book early. I love when a debut author comes out of the gates with great banter and witty dialogue and that's exactly what Catherine Walsh did. This book is about a woman named Sarah. She has a "One Night Only" rule after she got her heart broken by her long time boyfriend. The book opens with Sarah in bed with a man she doesn't remember and its a work day so she wakes him up and says he has to leave. He immediately starts joking with her and the reader is instantly endeared to the Irishman, Declan. She finally gets him to leave, but then a few days later when she goes to Ireland for her best friend's wedding she finds out he's the grooms brother! The first night there goes off with many hijinx, including the boy's mom trying to match make Sarah and Declan by putting them together at the "loner table". Throughout the trip, the 2 keep bumping into each other despite her efforts to avoid him. While I loved Declan at first, there are times when he is very hot and cold and truthfully, by the end I didn't like him. He is constantly assuming he knows what Sarah wants and he bases his actions around that, despite the fact that he's not always right. Then when it inevitably all blows up, he blames her walls for keeping them apart and doesn't take any blame for the distance they experienced. He also kept a pretty big secret from her and I just didn't like him by the end. As for the writing of the book, there are definitely some pacing issues for me. After the Ireland trip, there is a chunk of time where the 2 are apart and it got pretty boring. We would spend a lot of time on one day then it would jump forward a couple weeks and we'd have to catch up, but this is also a debut novel so I think a little bit of grace is deserved. I loved the Ireland vibes in this book and loved the cast of characters surrounding Sarah and Declan (his brother and her best friend, Annie; Sarah's roommate; Sarah's coworker, Will, etc.) but I didn't love Declan's action and the sources of conflict in this book were dumb. Overall, a cute read that I would recommend!

SPOILERS AHEAD:
He is in the process of a divorce and doesn't tell her so of course his wife comes back but she's super kind and just causes some misunderstandings. Sarah also has a brief fling with a coworker despite the fact that there is zero chemistry.

This book has a few detailed sex scenes.
