I loved listening to Sarah and Declan’s love story. Sarah had a bad experience in a previous relationship and has not opened herself up for new opportunities since then. Declan also has his own past, but somehow these two meet and work their way through their pasts. This story was full of ups/downs and laughs.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an advance copy. This is my voluntary honest review of this audiobook.
Lots of laugh-out-loud moments, romance throughout and above else - uhh that Irish accent <3
“One Night Only” by Catherine Walsh is an absolute delight to read. The audiobook version is narrated by Jessica Regan – and she has done an amazing job. I loved every minute of it!
The plot centers around Sarah and her life in New York.
One night only is Sarah’s rule. It is the only way to protect herself from being hurt.
But when the latest guy, Declan, suddenly shows up as a groomsman at her best friend’s wedding, she has no place to hide. Sarah’s one night only rule is weakening as Declan’s Irish charm is getting hard to resist. But can she trust him?
I recommend this novel to the readers who love a well-written rom-com and to the readers who have “thing” for all things Irish. You will not regret picking up this book, whether it is the audiobook or the e-book.
Thanks to @BookoutureAudio and @NetGalley for the opportunity to listen in advance <3
I will come back on July 30th and publish reviews on Goodreads, Instagram and (Audible, if available there).
I enjoyed this light summer read while listening to it. But thinking about it afterwards there are several things I didn't appreciate. The story is fairly simple. Sarah has a one night stand with Declan Murphy. A week later she is maid of honor at her best friends wedding in Ireland and she finds Declan is the brother of the groom. The wedding festivities have them interacting all week.
Back in NYC she tries to not think about Declan but again their paths cross. Declan is handsome and a hardworking barman and entrepreneur. His way of flirting is to push and provoke Sarah and I personally don't find that charming or helpful in growing a relationship. Sarah herself is wishy-washy. She has baggage from her parents marriage and dating history that makes it hard to trust and commit to trying a relationship. The obstacle that comes up at the 70 percent point shows how little they actually know about each other. And you realize how few meaningful conversations they have had together.
I did enjoy the story and appreciate that while Sarah states that she enjoys sex, the author chooses to leave the intimacy off the page. The narrator Jessica Regan did well separating the characters and I like the Irish accents. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
What a great romcom! It’s cute, funny and has interesting characters with writing that makes it easy to become invested. This is a light, quick read that left me happy at the end, perfect rom com for me.
One night stand rule is working for Sarah till she goes to Ireland. She met him againat the wedding of her best friend.
Back in New York Sarah tries to forget Declan. But somehow it is diffucult. Is the same for him???
It was such an easy rom-com to enjoy. What would you do if you found someone that suits you perfectly? Love the characters and love Ireland particularly. Enjoy it as soon as possible.
I am so excited!
After being granted to read the ARC of this book and then the audio I knew right then I was becoming a little bit obsessed with the characters. And this has been the best decision ever, to read the book first and then listen to it, the cute accents, the expressions, everything coming to life, love the feeling so much!
Well, seems like I have a new habit for books I like!
