Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Such a beautiful and inspiring short story about how art can help in healing our minds and souls. The story is about this little girl Catalynd who is living a happy peaceful life at a farm in New Jersey with her little family but then, one day, Cat and her mom are victims of a bad car accident that will leave the little girl with two broken legs and her mother suffering from depression. Catalynd will try to help her mom as she could after her brother is at college in Florida but then her family will rent their old barn to an artist named Benton Whitman. Cat and Benton will form a nice relationship thanks to art. Benton teaches her to paint and Cat to understand many things about her family issues.

A story that deals with many difficult topics like mental health issues but the author did a great work in turning it into a beautiful story about hope, love and art. It was a nice read that might help many kids who had to face such experiences at home with their families. It was well written and I liked reading this story. Good luck to the author for her next books.

This was a quick read, Cat (Catlynd) is thirteen years old who lives on a farmstead on Sourland Mountain. She and her mother are involved in a horrible car accident which leaves Cat in a wheelchair with casts on both legs. Her older brother leaves for college and in addition, Cat's family takes in a boarder, an artist named Benton Whitman. Cat notices that with all of these recent changes, her mother seems sad. Cat learns that her mother has a history of depression and she does her best to understand and help her mother with the help of Benton. I like the story but felt more could have been added to give depth to the issues it was tackling. Thank you, Net Galley and Girl Friday Productions for the opportunity to read this story.

Wonderful children's story. Such great images, and colors. Would definitely pick up for a friend's child to gift them!
