This was an interesting little Bible set with beautiful illustrations. I thought the extra questions and thoughts at the end were especially nice for children to think about the stories more.
NOTE: I received a SAMPLE of this book for review.
From the SAMPLE, I Wonder by Glenys Nellist is a sweet introduction to the stories that are in the Bible. The illustrations were lovely. This review is based on the SAMPLE I was given to read by NetGalley. I would like to read the full book so that I can leave a full review. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this sample. (This review is also on Goodreads.)
I received an electronic ARC from Zonderkidz through NetGalley.
This was a sampler of three of the stories. Nellist shares the Bible in a manner for younger readers. She offers affirmation that it is okay to wonder about God and His story for humanity. Each chapter offers readers the Bible story and finishes with "I Wonder" statements and questions. Readers can actively engage with this book, and families can share discussion and growth. Lovely illustrations bring the message to life along with the text.
A beautiful gift book for young families.
I love the concept of this children's Bible, to encourage them to wonder. The text is accessible for kids and the illustrations are lovely, but they portray the Biblical characters as Caucasian, which is factually inaccurate and inadvertently perpetuates stereotypes and racism. So unfortunately, I cannot purchase this for my library or my children.
