This is a perfect fit for readers who crave a lighthearted, feel-good romance with a dash of adventure, a strong-willed heroine, and a swoon-worthy love triangle that will keep them turning the pages to discover if Janine will find her true match on the sun-kissed shores of a deserted island.
I liked the book. One of the better Susan Hatler books. More interesting than a normal romance comedy story. The main character Janine and Jackson are friends. Jackson is her ex boyfriend’s best friend and off limits to each other due to the code don’t date your best friends girl. I liked that Janine is a determined career oriented person. Good book and good series.
Janine Wilson is the general manager of a hotel in the resort of Blue Moon Bay. Concerned at the lack of progress with aspects of the hotel's renovation, she accepts an invitation from her persistent ex-boyfriend Cody to go on a boat trip to an island, suggesting that it will ultimately benefit the hotel.
Also on the boat is Jackson Davis, Cody's best friend, who Janine has developed a crush on. When Jackson and Janine kiss on the island, Cody is upset and disappears with the boat, leaving them stranded.
Despite an uncertain start, city girl Janine is able to overcome some of her fears whilst on the island, and she and Jackson acknowledge their feelings for each other.
Back at the hotel, Janine then has to ensure the renovations are finished before a grand reopening party. This throws up a whole different set of problems, as Janine's stepmother and her two daughters turn up and Janine has to address her difficult relationship with them.
The romance with Jackson is the central focus of the book, however, and this is well-written by Susan Hatler. Janine overcomes her feelings of low self-esteem to make the right decisions for herself (eventually) and Jackson is just adorable.
There are more books in this series and I would be happy to read them.
I received a digital copy of this book from Hatco Publishing, in return for an honest appraisal.
** The book has since been retitled and is now called 'All About That Kiss'. **
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. A good women's fiction romance novel. Love the cover.
I enjoyed this book! It was such a sweet, romantic book. Just what I needed at the time. I would definitely recommend this book!
If you haven’t read a book by Susan Hatler yet, here’s what you’ll get.
An short but adorable romance with likeable characters in a fun setting. And plenty of kisses!!
This cute little story was just what I needed. Something fun and romantic, a little cheesy (in the best ways) and a cute little town I would up and move to today if it existed.
I loved this story. And the trope! Crushing in her ex-boyfriends best friend. Yessssss! Stranded on an island together?! Nothing like sudden confinement to face their feelings for eachother. So much fun!
It was a surprisingly emotional read at parts, and I appreciated that! It isn’t an easy feat to create a connection like that in a short novel, but this author achieved it beautifully.
A few notes on what I would have liked more of.
I loved the connection built between Janine and Jackson while they were on the island- it was perfect. They connected on every level, and that came across, showing them falling in love.
But then they get off that island and back to reality. They even go on a date, but we only really hear about it, we don’t get to go along with them. And when he proposes, well- we have no idea when or how Jackson proposed and I would have loooved to see that adorable moment. Or Janine in Texas?! Please! That would have been hilarious!
I wanted more of their post island romance thrown in there. Showing how their lives fit together in reality.
I loooved the struggle they faced in being together, and the realizations they had to come to. How they had to choose eachother over other aspects of their lives. Beautifully done!
Thank you NetGalley and Hatco Publishing for the complimentary e-arc. All opinions are my own.
A lovely warmhearted story. Janine is a great main character and so you are hoping for her happy ending. Good storyline and lovely characters make this a great beach read
Janine is running an inn at Blue Moon Bay. Her ex, Cody, stops by to say he has an idea to get more customers into her inn. When she meets him, he takes her to a boat, captained by his friend Jackson, who Janine has liked for a long time. At a deserted island, Cody sees Janine kissing Jackson and leaves them stranded.
The characters are terrific, with plenty of banter and feelings that come out. The storyline has great twists and surprises
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Oopsie Island is the sixth title in the Blue Moon Bay series and a delightful story of one woman’s journey from not really believing in herself or her worth to discovering that she’s far more than she’s ever given herself credit for in the past… and she deserves happiness with the man she’s been reluctant to admit that she’s fallen for since he is the best friend of her ex. Now Janine and Jackson have the chance to explore those feelings (on both sides) with the knowledge that what they each thought was impossible is very probable if they let their guards down just a bit.
Everything you’d really need to know before picking up The Oopsie Island can be found in the Cover Description. What isn’t there are the emotions, the kept carefully hidden emotions that both Jackson and Janine have been dancing around for a while now. Oh, sure, Janine’s ex, Cody, does play a part in that dance but also each has a different idea of what their futures hold so going out on a limb and risking those feelings not being returned was enough to keep them silent. Except being stranded on an island by that jerk of an ex does open doors – amidst panic attacks on Janine’s part – to possibilities and to a real, enduring love that could stand the test of time should they be willing to take that risk.
I enjoyed myself in the Blue Moon Bay world. Janine and Jackson gave me a fun, romantic story with a bit of drama, a lot of familiar faces, and the belief that love wins against everything put in its path, even ourselves. I will mention that this world is known to me although I hadn’t read Jackson and Janine’s romance previously. The Kissed by the Bay series got a makeover that included new covers, new story titles, and a new series name – the stories have not changed. So, for full disclosure, I do own a copy of the previously titled “All About That Kiss”.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own – good, bad, or indifferent. I was not financially compensated for this review and no expectation of a positive review was promised.*
One of my very favorite authors. She never disappoints and this one is no exception. Her writing pulls me in a keeps me till the very last page page Turner for sure.
Janine Wilson is a simple girl, really seductive, but with no self-esteem. She has a really good chance to be the manager of the Inn at Blue Moon Bay. She has a lot to do, but decides to visit a business opportunity with her ex-boyfriend Cody. She broke up with him almost a year ago, but he still invites her everywhere. On the trip with them is another guy Jackson Davis. He is best friend of her ex and also the one who makes her heart beat faster. And of course things go wrong. So wrong ... but it’s important to see the positives at all times. Janine tries new things and overcomes her fears.
I loved her story like any story in Blue Moon Bay. It was sweet and bitter. I really liked the surfing part. We need to try and see what can be done. And when everything goes bad, we do our best and in the end everything turns in the right direction.
"If you can't beat them, join them"
I want to thank Netgalley and Hatco Publishing for this opportunity.
Thank you NetGalley, Susan Hatler and Hatco Publishing for the copy of The Oopsie Island. This is my personal review.
Blue Moon Bay is like being home with friends and family every time I read one the books from this series.
Janine and Jackson are so perfect together. I loved every word in this book. The chemistry between them crackles.
Pick up the books in this series you will be so glad you did!
City girl Janine Wilson’s career is taking off but the same can’t be said about her love life. No matter—as manager of the Inn at Blue Moon Bay, Janine’s in charge of throwing a huge party to celebrate the Inn’s recent expansion and doesn’t have time for distractions. Unfortunately, two big ones suddenly show up: her thrill-seeking incompatible ex, Cody, who refuses to accept their breakup, and Cody’s handsome and charming best friend, Texas cowboy Jackson Davis.
Reluctantly, Janine agrees to meet Cody for one last dinner because Cody says he has a huge business opportunity for the Inn. But when Cody takes her on a boat ride to show her his great idea, Jackson is at the helm. Janine has been trying to resist her attraction to Jackson because they have no common interests, not to mention he’s her ex’s best friend. Once they stop on a deserted island, though, Janine doesn’t expect the sparks that fly between them, the spontaneous kiss they share, or what Cody does after witnessing said kiss.
I loved this story and was really worried Janine would get back with Cody, but thank goodness for Jackson being the man who she fell in love with. I must find more of these books to catch up with them, was it really a happy ending?
Well written & worth the read, thank you NetGalley for letting me review this lovely book.
I have read loads of Susan Hatlers books now and they do not disappoint. This was another lovely read, I like all the characters in Blue Moon Bay and love all the stories – can’t recommend these books more for a light, easy romantic read.
I absolutely love Susan Hatler's books and this was no exception. Absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend this to anyone.
The Oopsie Island by Susan Hatler
Another book in The Blue Moon Bay series. Although you can also read as stand alone books.
This one is about Janine the General Manager of the Blue Moon Bay Inn. She is having a few trials and difficulties during renovations of an old wing of the building and time is running close to the opening . She is a great success at her job having moved from the City to Blue Moon Bay but her love life is anything but successful. She wants what her friends have.
Yet another lovely story by Susan. I really enjoyed the characters - Janines journey to find love and dealing with the unexpected trials life is bring her. Light hearted enjoyable read on a lazy day.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Janine feels like she is almost there in proving to her stepmother that she has made something of her life, when she encounters problems with the hotel refurb, which throughout the story she deals with efficiently. Along side this she has to deal with an ex who won’t go away, and then she ends up marooned on an island with the man she has a crush on Jackson. He comes into his own teaching our city girl who has never even been camping how to cope. Once back into civilisation, he has to go back to Texan to help his sister in law on the ranch so she lets him go, both decide they want to be together and we have a lovely sweet HEA.
Janine is running Inn on Moon Bay and is finalising renovations. She hopes it works as her stepmother thinks she can't stick to any job. She's having problems with some of the work when along comes Jackson who changes her life
I have read the three previous Blue Moon Bay by Hatler and this series is the absolute best!
I wished I could have read the 5th book The Christmas Cabin but it happens. I'm a series junkie LoL
I could go on and on here. To keep things short
So The Oopsie Island WoW! Where to start. This book was charming, enticing. 😍
Hatlers writing is freaking Fab like no other words for it. She can keep you tuned into the pages and before you know it you're half way though the book!
Her characters in this series are incredible. Janine and Jackson. Loved them!
She is working hard at the Inn when her ex and his friend Jackson show up.
She has an attraction to Jackson which complicates things and has for awhile now.
I love the small-town, charming feel. It really brings the book to life!
Just read this brilliant, lovely, wonderful book!
Also this can read as a standalone book! I personally have to read books in order! 😊
So now my little message to Hatco Publishing PLEASE bring the other books to NetGalley! 😘😂
