This was one of the first mangas I've read and I thought it was so sweet. It definitely gives off chaotic vibes but sometimes high school sweethearts are chaotic! I wish this novel had a little more closure towards the end but I guess the whole point is to get a reader hooked enough to read the next one, which I will!

A dropped eraser leads to a huge misunderstanding between classmates as Aoki tries to protect his own crush (Hashimoto) by telling Ida (Hashimoto's crush) that the eraser belongs to him. Now Ida thinks Aoki likes him and as the two become friends - it might actually come true.

This was a very cute comedy of errors. The characters are endearing, though I was not a fan of the exaggerated art style.

Thank you to VizMedia and NetGalley for this DRC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this a lot. Chaotic and hilarious. The fun artwork and silly facial expressions were on point when conveying misunderstandings between the characters, especially when the mishaps were caused by one eraser!

It was nice to read about how each character in the love triangle(?) are sweet and considerate of each other (even if they're not aware of their own crushes). It makes everything so wholesome with one scenario after another. Even if Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto, he still wants to support her love for Ida despite his own feelings for her. Then whenever he interacts with Ida, Aoki starts to have feelings for him he didn't realize before. So I'm super curious how this is going to turn out.

The ending to Volume 1 is FANTASTIC by the way. It made me go OMG NO WAY. What a twist! I would like to continue reading this series, please and thank you! A wonderful and warm-hearted start to this series. I recommend this manga to young adults and those who are interested in a boy love high school romance!

Love this sweet mix-up m/m highschool romance manga!

Absolutely adored My Love Mix-Up! volume one from Wataru Hinekure! The characters were fantastic, Aoki is such a silly but sweet hearted young man, and Ida is a more quiet and serious one- they fit together well!

The situations were ridiculous, but the message was so warm-hearted it swept me away into this world. I love that Aoki starts to be honest with his feelings towards the end, and that he was willing to tell the truth to his friend and former crush.

That plot twist at the end was so good! Did not see it coming at all, and really makes the story even more interesting.

Can't wait to read the next volume!

If you're looking for the cute flutters of young shojo romance but queer, this is the book for you! Aoki, the main character, has a crush on his classmate, Hashimoto, who she, in turn, has a crush on their other classmate Ida. Through circumstances, Ida thinks Aoki has a crush on him. Cute shenanigans begin and a love triangle (square?) forms. It has all of the clichés in shojo manga that are sometimes just what you want to read. This is a silly but fun read that is just like popcorn; you just want more! Can't wait for more volumes.

This is a fun one! Finally, a love triangle(?) I can enjoy! The series of misunderstanding that lead to the setup are cute, and all three players seems like kind people with terrible timing, and the uncanny ability to turn everything into utter chaos. (Bonus points for the gender shakeup!.) And that volume ending! Shenanigans, I tell you!

Aruko's art is such a compliment to this series! The expressions, like in My Love Story!! are just fabulous!

Aoki forgets his eraser and frantically asks his friend Aida who doesn't have an extra but next to him Hashimoto has an extra he can borrow. It is revealed that Hashimoto is always very kind to Aoki and he has developed a crush on her. He notices letters scratched onto the eraser he borrows from her. It says Ida...which is the boy who sits in front of Aoki. Aoki drops the eraser upon discovering this and Ida turns around and hands it back to Aoki. Unfortunately, Ida saw his name on the eraser and asks Aoki why and Aoki doesn't want to embarass Hashimoto so he says he has a crush on Ida, which shocks both of them. Aoki is in a crisis now. The funny thing is Ida isn't really that put off by Aoki's confession and decides to befriend him and in the process Aoki begins to develop feelings for Ida. This really confuses Aoki because he still like Hashimoto too. This book was adorable and had a few twists in it to keep me hooked. I'm really interested to see what happens in the next volume.

This is a very silly and sweet little love triangle! Goofball Aoki likes shy Hashimoto, but in a case of mistaken identity accidentally confesses to cool Ida instead. Ida initially turns Aoki down, but decides to take his feelings seriously and take time to consider the possibility while getting to know Aoki better. Meanwhile, Aoki discovers that Hashimoto is crushing on Ida, and determines to set the two of them up, despite his feelings for Hashimoto. But as he starts spending more time with Ida, could it be that he's really falling for him?

The reveal at the end totally caught me by surprise. I'm relieved, because I genuinely like all three of these characters, and I don't want their feelings to be hurt! Overall, this is a pretty gentle manga. The story is funny, if sometimes a little over the top, but the characters are all adorable. I gotta say, I really understand the appeal of Ida! He's quite crush-worthy. I'm looking forward to continuing the story with the next volume! 3.5 stars

This manga was so cute, normally I dont like miscomunication or mix ups as a plot elelemnt but it was done so well in this manga. I also enjoyed the build up of the romance (or atleast the realazation of attraction.) I highly recomend it!

This was so cute. The romance was fun and sweet, and the friendships are adorable. I can't wait to continue with more in this series. The mix-up is just beautiful hijinks, and it has a great tone. My biggest problem is that some of the angry faces (or similar emotions) have weird illustrations.

A fun start to a new manga series. Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto who has a crush on Ida. Through a misunderstanding, Ida believes Aoki has a crush on him and decides to take some time to consider a relationship. Aoki, covering for Hashimoto, goes along with it until he realizes he has developed feeling for Ida. A very gentle story that will appeal to anyone looking for a light romantic comedy with a few twists. The revelation at the end of this volume has me waiting for volume 2.

This is a cute rom-com, full of mix-ups and misunderstandings! I love the art, the characters, and the storyline, and there's even an unexpected twist at the end. I will continue with this series because it was a really good time and I'm so curious to see what direction it will take. I recommend it to fans of romantic comedy manga like My Love Story. Thanks to Viz and NetGalley for a digital copy to read and review.

Aoki, the main character in My Love Mix-Up, is an idiot AND HE MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS. The characterization of the four central characters is surprisingly solid and everyone is just so earnest, which works well for what is an ensemble comedy. I wasn't sure if the plot would be capable of carrying over into a second volume, but it will, as the end gave us a very nice twist that made the misunderstandings even worse for the main character---which made me howl with laughter. (I received a free ARC from the publisher via Netgalley.)

This was one of my most anticipated books of the last half of 2021, and it (unsurprisingly) completely surpassed my expectations! I absolutely loved this title, and the only disappointing thing about it is that there wasn't more! I loved the characters, plot, and artwork, and the ending had such a pleasant plot twist that I cannot stop thinking about it. This is definitely a series that I will continue to read, and I am very much eagerly anticipating the next volume!

What a fantastic beginning to a new series! Packed full of charming, sweet, silly scenes as Aoki and Hashimoto both try their best to navigate through the minefield of having a first crush. The titular mix-up is handled very well, as are the characters' feelings. An absolute delight to read. Highly recommended.
