First, I admit that I haven't read the first Secret Sisters book, but I feel like this one worked well as a standalone. If I was missing anything crucial, I didn't notice it. What I did notice was that Reve and Nina wore me out. I'm not sure which of them was the bigger mess. Dani Collins does make their back and forth worth the journey, and when they're together, they have good chemistry. I did like the sisters separated at birth storyline. I've seen it before but not often, and it does make for an intriguing story. The book is well written, and even though it took me a bit, I did like the characters and ended up rooting for them.

Dani Collins has given us a smoking hot second-chance romance! The chemistry between Reve and Nina is absolutely electric and they indulge in that chemistry in some of the most luxurious locations around the globe. I loved how independent and determined Nina was in pursuing her design career on her own merits and how frustrated Reve got every time she pushed his money away. The tension was a living, breathing thing between them and when they clashed-whew!

So technically this is part of a series, with this being the second book but I feel like it could be read as a standalone. At least, I wasn’t too confused about the events of this book since I didn’t actually read the first one yet prior to reading this one. So take that as you will. If you were curious, it is the Secret Sisters books.

I think I have a thing for closed proximity novels in a sense. And even though it isn’t always a close proximity type of novel, it still had those vibes and I adored it for it. See, the issue was that the paparazzi mistook Nina for Oriel, who happens to be a famous supermodel. The “secret sisters” part starts to make more sense after you find out why they keep getting mixed up. Somehow, wanting to avoid the drama of scandal and being the public eye for something that isn’t even accurate in her case, she ends up ducking out into her ex boyfriend’s penthouse that she happens to be by. Now, Reve does NOT like being a part of scandal either, and yet he will help Nina out of this because that’s just what he wants to do in this case.

We get to find out what’s the deal about Nina and Oriel, who they are to each other and why they only found out about one another recently…. we slowly find out why Nina and Reve aren’t together, even though it seems like maybe there’s a second chance romance in the stars for these two. Things can get pretty heated, and all in all it can be a pretty fun read.

With sizzling chemistry, the drama of the fashion world, and a shocking secret, MANHATTAN'S MOST SCANDALOUS REUNION by Dani Collins is everything you could want in a modern-day romance with that little bit of magic added on top.

When aspiring fashion designer, Nina Menendez finds herself being chased down the street by paparazzi, she isn't given the opportunity to explain that they have the wrong person and that she is not the international supermodel that they think she is, even though she shares a remarkable resemblance. No, instead Nina finds herself rushing into the only building she recognises, that of her ex, Reve, the man she loves completely but who only used her and then discarded her when he was finished.
The last thing Reve needs is publicity and the woman who haunts his dreams arriving on his doorstep but when Nina arrives he cannot help but want to protect her, even though he wonders if it is just an act to get back into his life.
But as they spend time together and begin to unravel the truth about Nina's past, Reve starts to understand that he may have made a mistake, and as Nina's life changes drastically, will he be able to break down the hard walls that he has had to build around his heart to survive, and let her in? Or will he walk away forever?

Fashion, drama, fiery romance, and secrets from the past - this story has it all! The second book in this series, this book can easily be read as a standalone but why have one great romance when you can have two, right? Nina is kind and compassionate and I enjoyed getting to see her shine through her fashion design, as well as become more confident about who she is and what she wants. Reve is a strong, powerful character who was greatly hurt and let down as a child, and I wanted him to learn to trust Nina and believe that she loves him completely for himself.

MANHATTAN'S MOST SCANDALOUS REUNION by Dani Collins is a fabulous romance and I look forward to reading more from this author.

Like but not love. Entertaining but didn't grab me.

This story has some great twists! It is a part of a series but totally a stand alone read as well.

The author crafts a story that is so different from the norm. I love that! Two sisters that don't know the other exists. Nina is chased often by the paparazzi and ends up at her ex's door. Smart choice except he is an ex for a reason and it takes a while for me to understand that reason.

One of the things that got me about this book is that sometimes it felt like we had to dig through to find the reasons they were not together any more and why everything was an issue for Nina. I had a really hard time with the buy in between these two. It seemed he was way more invested than she was and the author kept fighting with herself between Reve being an Alpha and Nina trying to get her business going and not wanting to need him.

The heat factor was great but the author kept stringing out the fact that they were actually good together. I could not figure out why everything became a fight and it got to be a bit exhausting after a while.

I think the story could have been so much better if Collins had a clearer reason for them to not be together so that when they do find the HEA, it is so much more exciting for the reader. The WOW factor is missing for me.

Overall, Manhattan's Most Scandalous Reunion is entertaining, brings us several twists, and delivers an easy read. However, I needed more connection, attraction, and burning desire to really grab me.
