This one was just so-so for me. I think there are others that have done this type of story better. I think this will appeal to those who like this genre and eat up stories like this, but it wasn't my favorite.

I was really looking forward to this book but the characters were really unbearable. While it was predictable the twist had some element of surprise!

Killer Content is about celebrity influencers coming together in the "Lit Lair".

Killer Content is a YA thriller, a quick read, and something that will definitely let you escape. This book is perfect for fans of reality TV (the more ridiculous the better) and definitely for a true YA audience.

Now, I read it, enjoyed the read, even though it was a little predictable and VERY OUTLANDISH (but that's part of the fun). I had a difficult time with the amount of narrators and how they were introduced, as well as the age of the characters (couldn't quite nail this down).

People who love reality TV or TikTok I think will really like this one!

Trendy and fast paced teen read. Fun and relevant for the social media age. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It would be difficult for the older generation to relate to specific parts of the books where they reference Tik Tok trends and Insta news.

I was super curious about this book when I heard it was about influencers.

I love YA thrillers but this one was missing something for me. It felt very predictable overall. I immediately guessed the twist, but maybe that’s just me.

The characters weren’t interesting at all to me. I found them all very unlike able and selfish. Though I do understand this is a YA novel.

I recommend this to teens who enjoy mystery and all things TikTok.

I wanted to pteface this by saying I have never been the type of person who enjoys thinks like tiktok or stuff like Jake Paul/Vine. I enjoy comedy sometimes but I feel like these internet celebrities take things too far a lot of the time. That being said, this was a pretty enjoyable book even though it was about a house full of teenage influencers. The mystery aspect was very well written and I was a little caught off guard when everything was revealed. The characters were very well fleshed out and I just overall enjoyed the story.

DNF. I found this book to be predictable and dull. I didn’t think any of the characters were likable at all. I wasn’t interested in the “mystery”. I couldn’t get into it at all and had no desire to try that hard after the first 20% or so of social media drama.

Killer Content has very interesting plot that the centers the life of TikTokers/ social media influencers. However, when one of the famous influencers die everyone in the Lit Lair could be suspect. The character development is good. I like how the characters were introduced in the story. It’s scary that someone could do such an extent to cover up something. I realized that the world of the influence could be very dark. The reason I only give this book 3 stars is that it took me so long to finish it. After all, in the middle of it, I kind of predicted the story. So, it kinda lost my interest halfway. Still, I enjoy this one.

this book was a fun easy read, but the characters were obnoxiously annoying and snobby and the twist was very predictable. even though it wasn’t anything outstanding, killer content was still a mostly enjoyable read.

Thank you to netgalley for providing an e-galley for review. Killer Content by Kiley Roache on the surface seems like a fluffy whodunit for the tiktok age. Read a little deeper and you see that there's a lot more to this murder mystery. The dichotomy between the adults who investigate this murder and the teens living it and how social media fame drives people to do things. Speaking of social media, the difference between what is projected on screen for 30 secs and what is reality is so vastly different and everyone forgets that.

Everyone wants to be social media famous, but will they kill for it? Killer Content examines how people portray themselves on and behind the camera. While this theme is a major topic in young adults the execution was not there. The characters were superficial and the plot did not dig into the depth of what social media can do to young adults. Instead, it went for overused drama and stereotypes. Nothing new was added to the conversation of social media.

This book was absolutely fantastic. I've already added it to our list for order this year and will recommend it to students.

While I did enjoy this read, I did find it to be pretty predictable. I liked all the references to current pop culture and the toxicity of social media.

I ended up DNFing this one half way through because every single one of the teens in the book drove me nuts. To me they all were spoiled brats.

This was a fun read! Perfect to tuck into your bag for beach trip or jaunt to the pool. The concept was so intriguing!

I'm okay with books exploring the destructive nature of fame and the motivations that might influence a murder. And an influencer house is an excellent setting for exploring those ideas. My issue is with the mystery. It absolutely pushes the limits of beleivability. Add in characters that are not especially likeable and only halfway developed and it's sort of exhausting and eye-roll inducing.

I must admit I just feel like I wasn’t the right kind of audience for this book. There were sooo many references to TikTok trends and stars and while I’m mildly familiar with them a lot of these references went over my head. I thought the idea of a house of influencers who end up with one of them dead was an interesting idea but I found that the execution was lacking for me.

The police procedurals needed a lot of work here especially since the twist was very easy to work out. I also didn’t particularly identify or even like any of the characters and that made it much harder to care if any of them went down for murder. Overall this just wasn’t my “cup of tea” and lacked a lot of what I liked about high school murder mysteries.

Gwen, Cami, Sidney, Kat, Beau e Tucker são 6 adolescentes tiktokers que moram juntos em uma casa. Todos eles têm milhões de seguidores no aplicativo, uns por dançar e outros por fazerem piadas e usam um ao outro para ter mais engajamento e assim conseguirem mais seguidores. E tudo ia às mil maravilhas, até que em uma noite todos tem uma grande briga com Sidney e, dois dias depois, a garota aparece morta na piscina – e todos os cinco tinham grandes motivos para acabar com a vida dela. Então a grande pergunta de “Killer Content” é: quem foi?

Bom, eu não sei nem explicar meus sentimentos por esse livro, porque eu simplesmente adorei. Eu saquei já de cara o que teria acontecido ali, logo nos primeiros capítulos do livro, mas mesmo já tendo essa “certeza”, ainda assim não sabia como tudo de fato tinha ocorrido e o que teria levado aquele momento, até porque conforme o livro vai passando, nós temos uma visão do ponto de vista de cada um dos habitantes da casa em algum momento e todos ele, absolutamente TODOS, tem motivos para querer Sid morta.

E, mesmo já imaginando que o final seria qual foi, ainda assim eu amei cada segundo da leitura porque, apesar de ter alguns personagens que é difícil de criar empatia (Tucker, seu fuckboy, estamos olhando pra você), tem outros que não tem como não torcer para não ter nada a ver com o quadro geral da situação.

É muito divertido passar pela cabeça de cada um dos personagens e ver como, apesar daqueles que parecem não ter a menor noção de tudo na vida, como a Gwen, todos eles tem seus problemas e seus motivos para quererem estar ali na casa e continuar fazendo um grande dinheiro com cada um de seus vídeos e com as suas publicidades.

O livro também tem uma certa representatividade: Cami sempre deixa muito claro como o corpo dela foge dos padrões impostos pela sociedade e ser uma personagem lgbt, mas a representatividade não é muito aprofundada em momento nenhum, sendo simplesmente tratado como algo natural, o que convenhamos, deveria ser assim em sua regra e imagino que foi algo que a autora quis ao não colocar isso “em cheque” na situação. Era algo que apenas estava ali, como tudo na vida.

Minha personagem favorita de longe é Kat. Desde o primeiro pov dela eu me encantei completamente, assim como me encantei com o relacionamento dela com Beau – friends to lovers!!! -, e eu confesso que posso ter torcido um pouco demais para que nada disso atingisse ela, mas não irei falar se acontece isso ou não.

Além de tudo isso, o plot é MARAVILHOSO, falando bastante inclusive sobre hoje em dia o quanto as coisas se desenvolvem nas redes sociais e como muitas pessoas vivem de aparência – e também o quanto as pessoas podem ser canceladas rapidamente. É muito divertido ficar tentando decifrar o enigma por trás da morte de Sid e a forma como tudo se resolve no final, é apenas para fechar com chave de ouro um livro que é muito gostosinho de ler.

Se você gosta de livros assim de suspense, eu super recomendo “Killer Content”, ele definitivamente entrou pra minha lista de livros favoritos.
