ARC copy-This was a great YA Mystery/Thriller. Preston has another great book on her hands. I enjoyed all the characters and the premise of the death meme. Very relevant in our times. The killer looking to get his revenge. I thought I had the killer picked out several times, to be wrong each time. The ending was awesome. Love when there are twists. Some of the things these kids do in this book is just dumb and defines all the stereotypes of the horror genre. Don't go out by yourself with a killer on the loose.
This book was wild. Something that I had believed I knew the ending of, but was absolutely wrong. Natasha Preston you have done it again!
First things first. I really like Preston's books. My students love them and I find it hard to keep them on the shelves in my classroom library.
This book focuses on teens who all respond to a meme about what their death fear would be. What is the worst way to die? Of course, in true teen horror fashion, teens who repost the meme with their fears start dying in the same ways that they had posted.
I had this at a solid 4 stars until the last paragraph. Yeah, that's right. That last paragraph just kind of ruined the book for me and left it completely unfinished.
Still, I think teens will love this, the latest of Preston's books.
It starts with a social media challenge-- post what you think would be the worst way to die. Soon, teenagers start showing up dead... by their worst fears.
This was a quick read; I honestly couldn't tell if we were supposed to know the killer the whole time (it was so obvious that I can't imagine we weren't), but it was still interesting. I definitely wanted to know the ending, and there was at least one surprise at the end.
It didn't follow the typical YA thriller troupe with the love interest, so I liked that. The dialogue and writing were a little off at times, though. And the characters were.. not the brightest. It was frustrating, but overall, a fun read.
This is a story about fear.
This book was not for me, but if you like YA thrillers or have enjoy wattpad style thrillers it may be for you!
Thank you so much Netgalley & Randomhouse Children’s for this eArc.
Actual rating 2.75. This actually was one of the better books I have read by Preston because the story didn't deviate from the plot. I was surprised there wasn't a romance because it seemed to start off that way and I was dreading the instant love. The mystery was the highlight and though I had pinned the bad guy from the beginning, it was interesting to see Izzy's journey to figure out who was killing her classmates. The characters weren't the most intelligent and the story had many instances where the dialogue was odd, but I didn't see the ending coming so that was a plus.
I got this arc from Netgalley, these opinions are me own. I love a good mystery and the plot for this one was so good! It was really fit for todays world! A meme goes out asking people about the worst fear for death and then people starting dying the way they feared. Izzy attempts to figure out who’s doing but with so many suspects it won’t be easy! Natasha Preston did a great job of keeping the reader engaged, I could t put it down! Another thing I liked was that the perspective of the killer, though you don’t know who it is, added a more intriguing touch to the book! And the ending, I don’t think I’ll recover from that!! This book was so good, can’t wait to read it again when it comes out!
Fear is hunting students and they have made it so easy for him, posting their fears on social meadow, practically advertising how to kill them! Izzy is one of the few who does not post her fear but she continues to find herself in the middle of the action. She wants to forget about it but her mind desperately wants to make sense of whatever is happening in her small town. This was a great read and my heart was racing at the end!
As always I loved this book by Natasha Preston, one of my favorite authors since she started writing scary books instead of love stories.
After a meme is posted online about what the scariest way to die is, teens start dying the exact way that they responded to the post.
On the downside, I did not like the ending, well, really just the last page. It leaves it open ended.
Maybe she will write a sequel?
This was SO GOOD. Natasha Preston never disappoints with her thrillers! This one left me wanting so much more! I’m really hoping for a sequel.
Natasha Preston never disappoints! As a young adult author, she hits the nail on the head! She is a go-to read!
WOW. I was kept guessing from the beginning to the very end of the book. Preston is a master at her craft. This YA thriller is definitely her best yet.
I'm really over the little cliffhanger comments at the end of every chapter. They're short chapters, you don't have dangle possible danger in front of me like a carrot. I don't even like carrots.
