What a fun tie-in to the One Piece universe! The characters' personalities shone through in the illustrations that accompanied the recipeis. The recipes were not difficult to follow, and the example pictures were beautifully shot. I worry that some of the illustrations and photos will be hidden in the spine due to the layouts, but otherwise the design and layouts were very appealing.
This is a cool idea, and will likely be popular with long-time One Piece fans. I will caution that some of the ingredients will be quite difficult to find unless you have a well-stocked Asian grocery nearby (we live fairly rurally and unfortunately do not).
(A very possibly very biased review because One Piece is awesome, but also the book is actually cool)
I started reading One Piece a couple of months ago.. 68 volumes and a Luffy tattoo later, I am obsessed with this manga and now understand why so many people say it is the best manga ever written. Because it is.
So obviously as soon as I saw a Sanji cookbook was coming I pre ordered it. It doesn't come out until December in the UK unless I'm mistaken, and I CANNOT wait to get my hands on it, especially now that I've actually had a look through it thanks to whoever the lovely person who approves arcs for VIZ is.
Not only do I want to cook 90% of what's in the book, but it's also filled with amazing illustrations and fun little anecdotes from the manga. Manga/anime food always looks so delicious, and I can't wait to try and make it myself.
Also, I actually love how the food is presented in the photos! Sometimes in cookbooks the food just looks so fancy and you already know whatever you make will never look close to that. But here the photos are both lovely and look super realistic/ easy to recreate.
Highly recommend to any One Piece fan, because who wouldn't want to learn how to make some of Sanji's famous dishes??
