Erica never disappoints and this book is no exception.
Lovable heroine and up tight hero from different aspects of the social spectrum.
Enjoy the twist and turns of their romance and how they break the barriers of society to find romance and love .
Absolutely gorgeous
This is my fair and honest review, voluntarily given and in my own words. Absolutely delightful story! Very different premise. Yes, it is a romance however, the characters and the back story are quite unique. It is witty and irreverent and just down right a good read!
This book is delicious. Our heroine is tenacious and clever and has Plans. Our hero is buttoned up so tight that his only social life is his weekly parties (where he manages much more than enjoys them). This book is chock full of Respect between our hero and heroine. They treat each other as equals and it is refreshing.
I really enjoyed reading this story, it was a rollercoaster of emotions. he found his soulmate . I'm glad they got to have their HEA after all they went through. I highly recommend this book!
Always in control, Julian is thrown by a woman, Unity, who wants to learn about his private scandalous masquerade parties. Unity wants to control her own destiny by starting a club that has non scandalous masquerades. Julian learns that he must give up control if he is to find love. I received an ARC from NetGalley and WebMotion for my honest review.
Loved it! Regency romance at its best! The cover and blurb was fun, but it’s the author that had me grabbing this fantastic read.
What did I like? This was such a fun and easy read…. Julian is the Duke of Lambley known for his weekly soirées of debauchery. Unity is a intelligent woman who strives to build something great and become her own boss. This was fun to watch the tensions between the two ignite. Five stars!
Would I recommend or buy? You don’t have to read the whole series to love these books. Each are easily stand alone! This was a steamy mixed race romance. I loved it and would easily recommend to others!
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!
I enjoyed this a lot because it's got a resourceful, independent, heroine, a scandalous yet rigid hero who attempts to plan and control everything, nice dialogue, some lovely mushy moments, an interracial romance that defies societal prejudices... I liked that the duke doesn't sweep in and save the heroine as she was quite capable of saving herself. She teaches him to plan spontaneity which was a clever touch.
I have liked several other Erica Ridley books and the writing style flows nicely as usual.
Steam level: One actual sex scene and lots of talk about casual hook-ups.
Content: Traumatic loss and untrustworthy family relationships in the main couple's past but the general angst level is low.
.
I received a Netgalley arc for free and this is a voluntary review.
The Duke of Lambley gives a masquerade ball once a week. Unity Thorne would like to get in to see what it is all about and maybe do it herself for a living. It takes her three tries to get to see the duke to present some of her ideas. He has been doing this for years though and thinks he has it perfected. The fact he would even give her a chance to see what she can suggest is amazing. They are definitely attracted to each other. She does not fit his perfect idea of his duchess but maybe he can learn something new. It is a fun story and Erica Ridley has brought together the unlikely pair in her fun way.
Lord of the Masquerade, is a wonderful story of two underdogs that claw their way to the top. Julian needs everything to be perfect. Unity needs to be the best at everything she tries. Together they are unstoppable.
I couldn’t put the book down end finished it in two seatings. Yet again Erica Ridley provides an adorably sweet story that is difficult to put down. Hands down my favorite author when I want a quick, happy, and grinning book.
This book is really witty and maddening.
A know it all Duke gives his heart to a equally arrogant woman. Unity didn't think herself his equal but she truly was.
Erica Ridley has done a marvelous job with this novel.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily
I really enjoyed this! Erica Ridley is so good at creating characters who are strong individuals with flaws and then matching them so they bring out the best in one another and inspire one another to be better.
Here we have Unity, determined to become a self-made woman despite her losses, and Lambley, who insists on controlling every minute detail in his life. Together they learn to loosen up (I LOVED Unity's idea for "Planned Spontaneity Days") and let go of some of the details.
Lambley reminds me strongly of Mr. Darcy here because he takes what Unity says to heart, learns from it, and changes his behavior accordingly. That is what makes him truly swoon-worthy.
It was a warm, cozy, delightful read and I loved every minute (as always - I have yet to meet an Erica Ridley book I did not like).
*Thanks to Erica Ridley, NetGalley, and WebMotion for providing an e-arc for review.
