This book is very accessible to beginners and those wanting to add a little flair to a well loved piece of clothing or to personalize a handmade or store bought item as a gift. The instructions for each stitch and about placement are easy to follow. The designs are simple and elegant. A lovely addition to a public library collection serving a craft community and a great catalyst for making well loved things newer!

I have always been big fan of embroidery and so to pique my skills in it more I did learn to how to did it by myself. I wouldn’t say I am a expert right now but I know basic things in that where I can manage small stitches if I need to. This book helped me gain core knowledge on stitching and the needles that needs to be used for diverse purposes. This book is for those who have zero knowledge on stitching and don’t know where to start.

Some pretty ideas for embroidery, stitch instructions are included. However the ideas were very similar, maybe use of different patterns on the surfaces?

This is my new thing and I’ve been so inspired by the ideas in this book. My daughter and I love thrift store shopping and I love embroidery and this is the perfect creative idea to combine the two.

The full color illustrations and step-by-step instructions are clear, concise and easy to follow. The book also includes tips on choosing the right supplies and instructions on how to transfer patterns. From start to finish, this was a great book and I’ve added many items to my idea book.

This is a lovely little book with some great embroidery ideas! It's definitely not a novice book as some of the instructions are quite complex!
There's a big focus on knitting, with some beautiful patterns included. I was expecting more on how to amend your existing wardrobe rather than knit more clothes!
Overall some lovely embroidery and upcycling inspiration!

Wardrobe Embroidery offers not only embroidery projects for clothes bought,, like jeans or shirts but also for hand knit garments. I especially adored the knit sweaters with floral embroidery.

I'd recommend the book for slightly advanced beginners upwards. Embroidery techniques are explained, but I'd say you need a bit of experience with thread tension to not ruin your most recent hand-knit jumper.

I am very much a beginner embroiderer and I thought this book was very much beginner friendly. I likes it had instructions with every stitch paired with an example. I liked how focused it was on reuse and sustaniability. I liked it brought up different kind of materials and good tips for it. I really liked the patterns ans i though they were very usuabale. I also liked the inspiration at the end and the links.

I highly recommened for a beginner embroider or someone who has some experience!

This book was provided to me by Zakka Workshop and #NetGalley for my honest opinion.

I found so many new ideas I can’t wait to try. I wouldn’t thought to embroider my own sweaters, jeans now I have an idea of how too!

Oooh...some really pretty embroidery to spruce up and make a real difference to your outfits. I liked all of them.

About half of the book involved knitting patterns, but even though you don't knit, you could still use the embroidery designs on your existing jumpers, for instance. This really inspired me to look at some of my boring or holey cardigans to give them a new life!

I'm finding that Zakka Workshop books are really great. I have yet to be disappointed in any of their selections. They obviously make sure their books present the best looking crafts.

The photos are beautiful as always!

As someone who is confident with embroidery, I was looking forward to this book because I think it would be a great addition to the shelf of anyone at any skill level. I think it's a really smartly put together guide and I very much liked the variety of patterns and the lovely images. I very much appreciated the depth the author went into explaining the supplies that you would need the methods of transferring the design onto the fabric, and the best ways to get started, especially as a beginner. My major gripe with the book is that it's a bit misleading. There's a large section dedicated to knitting as well as embroidery, but the book doesn't really let you know that that's going to be there until you get into it. So if you're not a knitter, then you're really unable to use about half the book. to add to this size inclusivity in the knitting community is becoming a much greater issue and these patterns don't really appear to be terribly size inclusive this is something kind of important and something that should absolutely be considered by both the author and the publisher going forward.

This book provides ideas for decorating clothes with embroidery. It also includes several interesting knitting patterns that can also be embellished with embroidery. The final section of the book features a gallery of garments that are very inspiring.
I particularly liked the final gallery of garments and some of the knitting patterns were interesting. But the instructions were basic and in my review copy they weren't complete. I would have liked to have seen more photos for each project but overall this is a nice inspiring book.

I can only give the book three stars because the patterns are not included in the Kindle version which is a great pity. This is perhaps a good example of it being better to buy the paper version of the book.
Otherwise the book looks visually very beautiful with inspiring photos and garments. The basic tools and stitches are well explained and the knitting patterns for the clothing are included. The style of the book is modern and a long way removed from the old ways of mending. It inspires a look through the mending pile to make something individual and beautiful out of what would otherwise no longer have been worn.

As a crafter, I was very excited to see this title available. I’m relatively new to the world of embroidery, but I’m an avid knitter and love seeing how people use embroidery to both embellish and mend their clothing. This book offered a ton of inspiration on how to both embellish for fun and also embellishing to upcycle/mend.

The book begins with a list of necessary supplies you’ll want to have on hand before starting, as well as a photo glossary of stitches you will need to know before beginning your stitching. Quite a bit of depth went into detailing how to transfer the designs onto your garments, which was nice since transferring is something is something I’ve never done before. I also appreciated the use of DMC thread since that is readily available in most big box and local craft stores. The stitch photos were clear and easy to follow, but there were some formatting issues with photos being in the wrong order. That definitely led to some confusion.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that a good portion of this book is knitting patterns! I loved all of the sweater patterns, which seemed pretty classical, and how the author used them to further showcase her embroidery designs. My only complaint is that while they were beautiful they were not very size inclusive and would not work for a lot of people.

I also really enjoyed the inspiration gallery at the back of the book - wow! What a beautiful showcase for this authors work and some inspiration for all of us aspiring embellishers at home.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy of this book. I can’t wait to start upcycling/embellishing my closet.

Thank you Net Galley and publisher for giving me an advanced copy.

This is really interesting book for anyone wanting to embroider on clothing; the embroidery stitches re nice and clear and the project ideas are great even for a beginner. I think I’d start with the bag, and then some jeans.

I’m not so keen on the knitting patterns but it gives great ideas for use on upcycling your own.

This book starts with a simple equipment list. It takes you through eight achievable stitches and then finishes with kitting patterns and embroidery embellishment. There’s quite a few patterns that I fancy trying out!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

I really liked this book ! I am a beginner in embroidery and this gave me a lot of idea of what do you with my old clothes.
There is a nice part about upcycling and in my opinion is something that we should think about, and this game me idea to just upgrade old clothes or giving a second life to clothes from second hand shop. The book gives you some idea of patterns and a nice explanation of the different stitches and how to realise them. I found it quite easy to understand and follow.

I am not a knitter but there is also a nice knitting part, and that gives also some patterns and ideas.

My only cons is the format that was not really easy to read through netgalley app. One page per view would be better. I guess is mainly made to be read on a paper version.

I recommended it !

I'm a sucker for this type of book. It has multiple entry points depending on the reader's level of experience and interest. For instance, I have no experience with knitting, but I have done several small embroidery projects and this book inspires me to grab an old t-shirt and make it like new. Upcycling is very important to Millenials and Gen-Zers, so it would appeal to a wide audience. The author does a great job of including tools and materials as well as photos of the various stitches. One suggestion would be to include QR codes for short videos of the author performing a particular stitch. I absolutely love the Dress with Flower Meadow pattern as well as the T-shirt with Wildflowers.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing an early read of this book!

An absolutely beautiful guide to using embroidery for upcycling and redesigning your wardrobe~

This book is a wonderful guide to embroidery for either beginners or people who are more experienced, as well as giving an insight into both hand embroidery and knitting and how they can be used in conjunction with one another in order to create an amazing finished piece.

The patterns are clear and offer a wide range of styles and accessories such as hats. towards the back of this book, there was a few photographic examples of other uses for hand embroidery on clothes and accessories which act as inspiration and allow the people to get more out of the book.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in knitting and/or hand embroidery.

* A big thank you to Netgalley and to the Publisher for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review*
