It was the cover that appealed to me first with this book, but having read a couple of Kerry's books in the past and enjoyed them, I was in high hopes that it'd be the same again especially as the blurb sounded really good.

I thought the storyline was a great one and had plenty of mystery and intrigued to keep me turning those pages pretty quickly to begin with. I wish I could say that I thoroughly enjoyed this story right to the very end but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I think with this kind of story there was plenty of potential for twists/red herrings but sadly that didn’t happen and so in my opinion I thought the story became somewhat flat in places and also some of the reactions of the main character just weren’t believable at all.

I also thought there were some loose ends left unfinished within the story, so I felt somewhat unfulfilled in that regard. Perhaps that was the authors intention though, to let us the readers come to our own conclusions.

Someone knows what she did, and they aren't going to let her off easy...

Reeling from the guilt of a split-second decision that can't be undone, Jennifer is an emotional wreck. She soon finds that the only thing worse than knowing what she's done, is finding out someone else knows. The only way to keep her secret from getting out is to do whatever her blackmailer tells her to do. The unknown sender's demands seem to escalate in nature, but Jennifer will do anything to protect her daughter...
This novel wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. I found myself wondering what I would do in Jennifer's shoes, as I firmly believe that none of us know how we will react to a situation if we have never experienced it ourselves. I was on the edge of my seat a few times, just wondering what would happen. One of my predictions for the story was right, but many were way off. I recommend this novel to anyone who loves a suspenseful story.

Another brilliant book from Kerry. One you cannot put down. Great story line of an accident and two people injured and the people involved. Lots of twists and turns along the way.

I picked this one up because I loved the premise of it, and fortunately this book was fast paced and very intriguing. Jennifer did something wrong, that's what we first read, and that hooked me in. I was anxious to know what she'll do next. The book tells a story that's quite different from the thrillers these days, and the end was surprising. It also gives you people to doubt on, and plot deviations you do not see coming.

It unfortunately missed the mark for me though. If you are a beginner to thrillers, I would HIGHLY recommend this to you because it's both fast paced and the twists are good. For me, the ending was surprising but not shocking as the book claims. What I am still a lil puzzled by is the title of the book. I do not understand why it's called so (I felt like the contents of the book and the title didn't go along so well). Still, this is just my personal opinion :)

I've already said this but I'll just say it again. I'll definitely rec this to someone who's started reading thrillers or would like to start. Readers like me who've read quite a lot of thrillers might find it a lil off. A 3/5 star read for me :)

I am a huge fan of Kerry Wilkinson but this one was not my favorite. There was suspense and twists but I didn’t find the normal thriller aspect that I expected. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.

Here's an author I can not recommend enough! all his books I have read have been brilliant reads. However, his latest book The Perfect Daughter by Kerry Wilkinson was really good at the beginning and had me gripped., with lost of twists and turns and then, I lost interest! I found this book just an okay read.
Usually I jump for joy with Kerry's book and recommend them. But This latest book wasn't for me. It was missing something. Sorry Kerry.

Big thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Kerry Wilkinson for my ARC of The Perfect Daughter in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me gripped early on but then it lost some steam and I got bored with it. I’ll still read more from this author in the future.

“I know what you did. Now you’re going to do something for me.” Everyone’s worst nightmare come true.
As single mother, Jennifer is struggling to keep things together, especially where her teen daughter is concerned. One day in a matter of seconds, everything in her world flips upside down and she has to deal with the ramifications of that-especially since someone clearly knows what really happened even though she was sure no one did. Now she has to deal with the fallout and the guilt that is making her fall apart as she keeps receiving texts that tell her that her secrets aren’t exactly secrets and if she doesn’t follow instructions, she won’t be the only one to suffer.
This is a well done edge of your seat thriller that you think for sure you have figured out until the last nerve wracking gut punch twist. Well done! Jennifer suspected everyone around her as the killer, and though I predicted who it would end up being, that didn’t end up affecting my enjoyment of it at all
Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. I was very invested in finding out who was the black mailer. However, if I could I would reach into the book and slap Jennifer, the mother, because of all of her wrong choices. Kerry Wilkinson had me guessing till the end. I would definitely recommend reading this.

Before starting this I had read some very mixed reviews and it isn’t usual for me to do this prior to reading as I prefer to make up my own mind about how I feel about a book. Well despite this I found this a compelling read, one which I started in the morning and had finished before dinner the same day. What amazing writing!

Jennifer is a mum who lives with her teenage daughter and is fairly recently divorced. One rainy night she receives a text while driving and looks away from the road. She hits what she thinks is a dustbin but when she stops she sees that it is a woman, one she has known for some time and recently argued with. She drives away as the place is deserted. Racked with guilt she desperately Google’s the accident and stalks the Facebook page. Almost immediately an anonymous message is received “I know what you did”.

What a fabulously well spun story and the tension continues to mount. I really didn’t guess until right at the end who was the blackmailer and found the plot really interesting and believable. I would highly recommend this if you are a lover of a psychological thriller.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Perfect Daughter by Kerry Wilkinson is a psychological thriller that had my heart in my mouth as I plowed my way through another excellently written book by this author.
Jennifer is late to pick up her daughter, Katie from college. It's pitch black and the rains pouring down, she quickly glances at her phone and feels a thud on the car. Thinking she may have caught a wheelie bin she goes to check and from this moment on she is keeping a secret. She begins to get texts from an unknown number saying "I know what you did." In order to protect Katie she does everything they ask until the messages with their demands begin to speed up until Jennifer realises she really has to make a decision.
Kerry Wilkinson is among my top authors. Every book never lets me down. He is so skilled in his craft that he has the talent to bring the deepest, darkest fears of us all and it feels so real and terrifying. In 'The Perfect Daughter' he has done it again. I always wonder if his next book will be as good as his last and he always smashes it out of the park.
He has created a chilling and jaw dropping story. The twists and turns of the plot take you to places you wouldn't expect, but then again this is Kerry Wilkinson! The suspense is exacerbated by the red herrings that are thrown into the story. I was invested in Jennifer's issues and thought these characters were a marvellously flawed set of people. I find the more flawed the more interesting the person. This definitely added more to this book. I always love a Kerry Wilkinson book but hate it when I have finished it too. Rather a double edged sword for me that.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy of the book.

Jennifer Hughes is a 40-year-old private tutor. She is the mother of teenage daughter, Katie. Jennifer’s husband, Bryan, has left her for another woman.

Jennifer is driving on a dark road in a huge rainstorm to pickup Katie from sports practice when the car jolts and comes to a stop. Thinking she has hit a wheelie bin left on the roadside by someone, she stops to look. Down in the gulley, she sees a woman sprawled on the ground not moving. Gasping, she realizes it’s the same woman she just encountered in the grocery store parking lot when she told her that she saw her son bullying someone. At the time, the woman’s response was a snarl back at Jennifer saying her own daughter, Katie, is not perfect. Once Jennifer and Katie arrive home, Jennifer is terrified knowing she left the woman there. That’s when the anonymous texts start saying someone knows what she did and demanding that Jennifer do something for them.

As this story moved along, I felt that Jennifer was a weak person and was aggravated for not immediately calling for assistance and admitting her role in the accident. That was awful. So, when the texts came in and the weak one couldn’t stand up for herself, it reminded me of the old saying “Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.” My mother taught this to me very early in life to impress upon me how we must always be honest. I guess Jennifer’s mother forgot to do this. But, I digress. I was surprised who the anonymous was but the reason for these actions was rather pathetic. Place the blame for yourself elsewhere is a cop-out. I have to add that Katie’s father, Bryan, is a real loser. Having read several of this author’s books, I must say that this book is not high on my list of favorites. But, I do hope readers will see for themselves what they think.

Kerry Wilkinson explores how far a mother would go for her beloved daughter in his compulsively readable new thriller, The Perfect Daughter.

There is nothing that Jennifer won’t do for her beloved daughter, Katie. After she had been deserted by her husband, Katie had become Jennifer’s entire world. The two of them absolutely adore one another and nothing and nobody is going to come between them – not even a shocking secret that could destroy everything. Jennifer refuses to dwell on the past – until one night when she receives a shocking text that makes her blood run cold. Jennifer can no longer run away from her past sins and as she is now firmly in the blackmailer’s sights, must do their bidding – or else…

Jennifer has no choice but to obey. She cannot risk her secret coming out because it could completely and utterly destroy the life she had built for herself and her beloved daughter. Jennifer has sacrificed so much for Katie and she will go to the ends of the earth to ensure that her deepest and darkest secret stays firmly under wraps. Jennifer must dance to the tune of her blackmailer – and when one of her windows is smashed in the middle of the night, she quickly realizes who is behind the anonymous messages.

The person blackmailing her is someone she used to trust. Someone who lives in the very town Jennifer and Katie live. Someone who will do whatever it takes to wreak their revenge. How much further will Jennifer have to go? Can she keep her secrets dead and buried? Or is it already far too late for her?

Kerry Wilkinson is a master at bringing our deepest and darkest fears onto the page and in The Perfect Daughter, he has once again penned a chilling, shocking and spine-tingling thriller with twists and turns that will leave readers with their jaws on the floor! Kerry Wilkinson really knows how to get under his characters’ skins and in The Perfect Daughter has created a cast of flawed, desperate and complex protagonists which kept me engrossed until the last page.

Kerry Wilkinson delivers yet another hard to put down thriller with his latest novel, The Perfect Daughter.

Jen is late to pick up daughter Katie. It's dark, the road is unlit and it's raining hard. A moment's lapse in concentration is all it needs to change both their lives forever. To protect Katie, Jen must withhold the truth. But someone knows what happened and is about to take advantage of that knowledge.

Well written and suspenseful, there are many red herrings along the way. I wasn't sure who was hounding Jen or why. Everyone, it appeared, was a suspect in the small community of Prowley. It was left until the very end of the story for them to reveal themselves. As for Jen herself, she wrestled with her conscience, but the need to protect Katie was paramount. There were some pretty awful characters too. I found Jen's ex-husband Bryan particularly dislikeable and his new partner Dawn wasn't much better, adding to Jen's problems. In putting the need to protect her daughter before anything else, Jen sadly made a bad situation even worse.

The way the book ended surprised me. I tried to work out how it would all play out and was quite surprised at the ending. It left me wondering what happened afterwards - but sometimes that's a good thing. It means you have invested in the characters and enjoyed the story. Highly recommended.

I would like to thank Netgalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for an ARC of The Perfect Daughter in exchange for an honest review.

The Perfect Daughter by Kerry Wilkinson is a psychological thriller.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:   (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Jennifer is late picking up her daughter Katie.  The rain is pounding, and it is pitch black.  She hits something, or someone.

And so begins her nightmare.  If she admits to what she did, she could end up in jail for the rest of her life.  She can't leave her daughter.  Katie is her world.

Jennifer starts to receive text messages from someone who says they know what she did, and they want her to do something for them to earn their silence.

If that isn't enough, she's trying to deal with an ex-husband and his girlfriend, and now her daughter is acting a little strange.

My Opinions:
I wish I had liked the main character.  She bothered me from the beginning.  I kept thinking that I should feel sorry for her, but I didn't.  She was a selfish woman, always thinking of herself, and not as concerned about her daughter as she should have been.  As well, her choices were just wrong.

I can't say I was surprised as to what happened.  All the "twists" seemed inevitable to me.

On the plus side, the book kept my interest from start to finish, even when I was disappointed with the character and plot.  It was also a very fast read.  That abrupt ending was probably the best thing of the book, as it provided me with the opportunity to give it my own ending.

Overall, the book was good, just not great.  I will continue to read Kerry's books, because he is a talented writer, and his books are always entertaining!
