What a grippingly, unputdownable book. I was hooked right away. Jennifer lives with her daughter after divorcing her husband. She is driving to collect Katie from football practice when she is distracted for a couple of seconds........ Do they prove fatal? Suspense and drama from beginning to end.

The Perfect Daughter is a good read of revenge, lies and guilt and some nasty characters.

Jen driving through a rain storm hears a thud , gets out, sees someone lying on the road and she quickly gets back in the car.

Can you live with yourself Jen?

Guilt is powerful.

Ah someone has seen her and is now sending demands by text.

Jen wasn't the nicest person after all who could do this but you still want to see who knows what?

The pages turn by quickly and what an ending it is.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a page turning read.

When going to pick up her daughter. Jen takes her eyes off the road for a second to heck her phone and feels like the car hits something. She gets out of the car to check but can't see anything so continues to pick up her daughter. Later on there are reports of a hit and run. Did she cause it? Will she confess? Will she be caught? This book will definitely keep you wondering and is a real page turner

I usually enjoy Kerry's books but this one fell flat for me. I found the thrills dull and I just didn't like this one. I will however continue to read Kerry's books in the future this one just wasn't for me.

My thoughts and opinions are my own and only my own. Thank you to Netgalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this story and give an honest review

This was a new to me author.
I have to be honest. At 15% I put the book down planning to DNF it as I couldn't connect to either the characters or the plot, but for some reason I picked it back up and kept going.
For me personally I should of stuck with my original decision, but I hate not finishing books when I know how much work goes into them.
This wasn't a bad book per say, not every book is for everyone, for me to enjoy I need connections or thrills and both fell flat for me. By the end you were also left with more questions than answers.
May just be head space I'm in and I'm sure many will enjoy.

One night while driving to pick up her daughter from football practice, Jennifer hits something in the road, at first she thinks it’s a bin, but when she learns the terrible truth she makes the devastating choice to flee the scene.

It’s hard enough trying to act normal and when the messages start arriving it gets worse, ‘I know what you did’. Now she has blackmail to contend with as well. Would it just be easier to confess?

I didn’t enjoy this as much as previous books by this author. It didn’t lend the right amount of suspense and much of it felt unrealistic. Even the synopsis which describes a close relationship between mother and daughter and them ‘curled up in front of the tv the messages start’ but in reality Jennifer and Katie have the opposite of a close relationship with Katie locked in her room most of the time and monosyllabic most of the time.

Too much of the story was far fetched and disjointed for me to really enjoy this one. But based on previous books I’d definitely read anything else kerry writes in future.

Rain pounds on the windscreen in the pitch-black evening. She knows this winding country road like the back of her hand, dodges the potholes with ease. But then she hears a crunch. A thud. She slams on the brakes.

Since Katie's dad left it's just been the two of us. But one night, as we're curled up in front of the tv, the messages start. I keep my phone away from Katie so she can't see the terrifying words: I know what you did. Now you're going to do something for me....

Jennifer made the wrong decision in a split second and has regretted it ever since. Guilt now consumes her every waking hour. She thought no one had seen her. But they had. And now she's being blackmailed by someone, but who?

Kerry Wilkinson knows how to tell a great story that's easy to read but gripping at the same time. Jennifer suspects everyone of being the blackmailer. I did guess correctly quite early on who they were but it doesn't spoil a good story for me. I liked all the characters in this book, they were well developed and believable. This is a tense and thrilling read and I could not put it down. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #KerryWilkinson for my ARC of #ThePerfectDaughter in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a long-time fan of Kerry Wilkinson and I love the DI Jessica Daniels series. I’ve read a few of Wilkinson’s stand-alone crime novels too so am thrilled to have received a proof of the latest one from Bookouture.

Jennifer is in the supermarket carpark when she sees a larger boy picking on a smaller one. She intervenes, the smaller one runs away and the bigger one’s mother appears. It’s someone Jennifer knows vaguely as they were at school together. There’s a slight argument, witnessed by passers-by and each woman goes her separate way. Later, Jennifer is driving to collect her daughter from football practice. It’s dark and raining, she looks down at her phone and collides with something. She stops to get out of the car and sees the woman she had an argument with lying in a ditch, her limbs at unnatural angles. She knows she should call an ambulance, but what if the woman is dead? People saw them arguing, what if the Police then think she hit her on purpose? She gets back in the car and drives to collect her daughter. Not long after, the text messages start arriving. Someone saw what she did and – if she wants her secret to remain hidden – she’s at their mercy.

This book hooks the reader in straight away and builds the suspense steadily. It’s pacey and I particularly enjoyed Jennifer’s first-person narrative, where we are privy to her justifying her actions to herself. And they need justification. Yet despite the fact she left someone for dead, she is a character the reader can empathise with. The story has some great twists, and I did not see the end coming at all. It’s an enjoyable thriller with well-rounded characters and an intriguing moral dilemma. I was gripped to see how far Jennifer would go to appease her blackmailer, which made this novel a page turner.

First, I don't understand the choice of this title.

Second, I really got the I Know What You Did Last Summer vibes here. Jen is on her way to get her daughter on a dark, rainy night when the unthinkable happens. She is faced with a choice that will change her life no matter what; drive away or turn herself in.

Choice made and now anonymous messages begin to filter in that they know exactly what she did.

The pace here was somewhat stagnant; I didn't really feel on the edge of my seat with this one. Just waiting for things to be revealed and the ending left a lot to be desired.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me the copy to read for review.

Kerry Wilkinson has easily become one of my favorite authors and his new novel The Perfect Daughter is just as good as I would have expected. It answers the age old question "what won't a mother do for her child?" and it keeps you on the edge of your seat until the chilling conclusion! Highly recommend!!

When Jennifer is involved in a hit and run accident she makes a decision which has consequences for her and her daughter. This novel has lots of stories within one, blackmail, family angst and issues of drug taking.
I felt there were some issues in the book that didn't seem fully resolved and that the ending seemed quite rushed.
Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review

Another great read from Kerry Wilkinson,Jennifer finds herself in trouble when she is involved in a hit and run while on her way to pick her daughter Katie up from football practice and drives away to complicate matters the victim was an old school friend who she been arguing with the day before in front of witnesses. To make matters worse Jennifer starts to get threatening text messages saying they know what she has done , and unless she does as they ask they will go to the police and tell them what Jennifer has done. With twists and turns a plenty once again Kerry Wilkinson has penned a great thriller although I have to say the ending was a bit sudden and left me feeling a little flat.Don’t get me wrong it is still a great read and I would recommend the book to anyone who enjoys this genre.A great 4 star read.

Jennifer made a horrible decision. One that she will regret but try to hide and the guilt consumes her. Someone knew what she did and tries to blackmail her. This person knew her every move. She didn’t know what to do until she didn’t have a choice. I enjoyed the tension leading up to finding out who knew her secret. I had a hunch but was wrong but very surprised! This was a great read.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read "The Perfect Daughter" in exchange for my honest review.

This was another fantastic read from Kerry Wilkinson. I always look forward to his books because I know they will grab you from the first paragraph and not let you go until the very last one.

The story takes place over a week in the life of Jennifer Owen. She lives in Prowley, a small town where everyone knows, everyone else's business. She lives with her daughter Katie since her husband Bryan moved out. One night she is late picking up Katie from practice, she hears a text come through and glances down at her phone - at the same time she hears a crunch - thinking she hit a bin. She gets out of the car and realizes that she hit someone. not just any someone but someone that others have seen her arguing with.

Then she starts getting anonymous texts telling her they know what she did. They start asking her to do things. All the time she is acting odd - returning to the scene of the crime.

In the end her whole life hinges on 2 seconds. So much can change in 2 seconds. The final twist is one that I did not see coming. There are so many wonderful red herrings thrown in this story, that when the true plot is revealed, you don't see it coming.
