This is a tense psychological thriller which really makes you question yourself. What would you do if you did the unthinkable but thought no-one would ever find out. This is what Jennifer has to weigh up. Surely her entire life can't go up in smoke because of a moment of carelessness.
I really had no idea until the very end of the book who Jennifer's blackmailer was. I was absolutely dumbfounded especially when it came to light how they knew so much. Thiis book will keep you reading well into the wee hours.

Jennifer and her husband Bryan divorced and their daughter stayed with her mum. So when Jennifer realizes she late to pick up Katie from the sports centre shes in a bit of a rush..
Its a dark wet night, knowing she shouldn`t but when her phone pings Jennifer takes her eyes off the road, just for a second, then it happens.
A bump, shes hit something or someone.
She stops to investigate.
A woman is lying in the ditch, her leg looks broken , there`s blood. What to do ? Drive away? There`s no-one in sight! Report it?
She needs to get Katie!
Things go from bad to worse when the next day she gets an anonymous text "I know what you did" and it`s only the start.
This is a tense addictive thriller that kept me guessing, numerous suspects present themselves, the question is who is the blackmailer and will Jennifer come clean or do something even worse.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the chance to read this as an ARC

This is why they say you shouldn't use your phone while driving.... You'll end up not only hitting and maybe killing someone but to top it off someone will start blackmailing you.... If only you hadn't looked at that dang phone!!

The Perfect Daughter had a somewhat familiar storyline (I kept thinking of the book/ movie I Know What You Did Last Summer while reading this book) but the author does a good job of making it new and relevant.

It's a psychological thriller with twists & turns that will keep you entertained until the very end!

Thank you to Bookcouture and Netgalley for this ARC !!

Kerry Wilkinson could write a book about Boris Johnson’s hairstylist’s qualifications or an illustrated guide to Justin Trudeau’s sock collection and I’d read it! Wilkinson has the ability to write a five-star, fast-paced, tension filled, quick read that leaves you emotionally wrung out and psychologically exhausted.

Single mother, Jennifer Owen confronts the mother of a teen she witnesses bullying another teen in the grocery store parking lot. Despite knowing the mother from childhood, the incident doesn’t have the desired outcome. The following evening, on a dark and windy, rarely travelled country road on the way to pick up her daughter, Jennifer takes her eyes off the road for a few seconds to glance at her phone. Before she knows what’s happened, she’s aware she’s hit something…or someone. A quick investigation reveals it’s the same mother from the parking lot. She’s in the ditch. Her leg is at an odd angle. There’s blood. Did she hit her? What would you do - Drive off? Confess?

“I know what you did. Now you’re going to do something for me.”

When the mysterious texts start appearing, Jennifer wonders if she made the right choice. Then her life starts eroding. Piece by piece. Can she dig herself out of her predicament before it’s too late? Maybe someone should have reminded Jennifer of the saying, 'When you point on finger, there are three fingers pointing back at you.'

This five-star compelling thriller highlighting how far a mother will go to protect her child needs to be at the top of your list this Fall.

I have read many of Kerry’s books and have enjoyed every one and this was no exception. A very tense storyline all the way through and considering the whole book was set over just a few days he has written it remarkably well to keep the reader engaged. I loved the characters with several under suspicion and wanted to know who was sending the mystery texts. I sort of guessed the ending but it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the book. Can’t wait for the next book. Highly recommend this author.

It is no mean feat to make a period of few days fill a whole book, but this author has managed it brilliantly.

Jennifer’s husband, Bryan, left her so now it’s just Jennifer and their daughter, Katie, living together. Katie has a boyfriend, Richard, who doesn’t have much to say for himself.

One dark, wet night, Jennifer drives to fetch Katie from the sports centre and after taking her eyes off the road for a split second, she hears a thud and realises she’s hit something. She stops, gets out, and has a look around – as much as she can on such an awful evening – and can only see wheelie bins so assumes that she must’ve hit one of them.

Then she starts receiving blackmailing texts, and then discovers that Katie is also keeping a secret so Jennifer can’t say anything for fear of ruining Katie’s future.

There were several characters who could’ve been the blackmailer, and I bounced from one to the other (and back again) before settling on the correct one but only just before they were revealed. The story really kept me guessing and I devoured it in a very short space of time.

You could cut the tension with a knife for the marjority of the book.

Guilt really can be all consuming and Kerry Wilkinson has done an excellent job of evoking that fear and anxiety through Jennifer as a character. It's not just all about the accident, 'The Perfect Daughter' perfectly caputres the difficult family dynamics when parents have separated and there's a teenaged child involved.

My only complaint is that it was a bit 'one note', 90% of the book is just focused on Jennifer and her guilt over what happened and despite the intrigue of who was messaging her, it got a bit 'same-y'. Bit of a let down with the ending.

The Perfect Daughter by Kerry Wilkinson.
Jen is on her way to pick up her daughter from the sports pitch on a dark wet evening and accidentally hits a woman with her car. She thinks that the woman is dead so she drives away without reporting this or getting help.
The next day she receives a text message from an anonymous caller saying that they know what she did.
Some twist and turns in this book but I had already guessed the ending.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Jennifer takes her eyes off the road for just a second, with devastating consequences... And then she gets a text from someone claiming they know what she did, and they want her to do something for them to keep quiet. Jennifer will do anything to protect herself and her daughter Katie, but how far will she go?

A thrilling and tense story where everyone is under suspicion and we are kept wondering just what will happen to Jennifer and Katie. I couldn't put this down until I had finished it, very much recommended like all of Kerry's books.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

The Perfect Daughter was a quick enjoyable read. Single mother Jennifer Owen commits a terrible mistake; on a dark rainy night she hits a woman and leaves her lying in a road side ditch. Dead or alive..Jennifer is not sure. Unfortunately, soon afterwards Jennifer begins to get anonymous texts from a stranger claiming they know “what she did” and she is forced to commit more and more dangerous acts to ward off police involvement What follows is a psychological thriller involving several people in her small English village and random sub plots. While I thought the premise interesting I did not find the book terribly suspenseful and I thought the ending rather abrupt. This is the first novel I have read by Kerry Wilkinson. I will try another in the future to see if maybe this is just not one of his best.

" I know what you did. Now you’re going to do something for me...."

Can you imagine getting a message like this? Single mother, teenage daughter, let the fear seep in for a minute.

The Perfect Daughter, is an edge of your seat psychological thriller that you will never be able to prepare yourself for. Kerry Wilkinson is a force to be reckoned with and an author that will captivate you no matter what she publishes. Kerry Wilkinson, made me an instant fan and I will forever have her added to my auto-buy author list.

The Perfect Daughter, was addicting to say the least. The plot was compelling, I was instantly drawn in as the opening scene is a hit and run. Talk about getting off to a "killer" start .

I dont want to give away too much as I am sure this is going to be a fan favorite, what I can tell you is that you will not be disappointed! Five Stars!

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with the opportunity of reading this book in return for an honest review. I have not read this author before and found the style of writing quite easy to follow - previous reviewers state how fast paced the book was whereas I found it quite easy going I was certainly not on the edge of my seat in anticipation. The storyline was interesting and it came to a fair conclusion but somehow I felt disappointed.

The Perfect Daughter by Kerry Wilkinson is another addictive read from an author who unfailingly finds himself at the very top of my TBR. Once again, I was drawn in from the start, and could not stop flipping pages until I did my best to unravel this twisty, well-crafted mystery.

Jennifer is driving one night, enroute to pick up her teenage daughter, when she collides with something in the dark. Assuming that she has hit a rubbish bin, she is horrified to discover that it was, in fact, a woman, one who now lies in a ditch, unresponsive. If Jennifer calls for help, she might be sent to prison, but how can she leave her daughter, who is on the cusp of writing her final exams? Deciding to drive away, she leaves the scene, but is further rattled by an anonymous message on her phone: I know what you did.

While this premise is possibly a familiar one, there are enough twisty elements placed strategically throughout the narrative to keep you guessing until the final page. Jennifer is such a morally dubious and unreliable narrator, making her tremendously fun to read. Recommended. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

You are driving. The weather conditions are bad. You stop focussing for just one little second and that's when disaster strikes. What would you do? Confess and face the music or act as if nothing happened and drive away?

Guilt eats away at you, but why would you worry? Nobody was around so you can start to relax, until you can't... Seems like someone knows about your secret and is working hard to turn you into their lackey. Who is doing this to you? And then suddenly you don't seem to be the only target. Time to act...

You often notice other people’s children’s bad behaviour, but you often turn a blind eye when it’s about your own offspring. And when someone points a finger, you have a lot more to deal with.

This author really knows how to take you on a journey over roads that keep twisting and turning until you certainly don't know where you are anymore.

By turning yet another page you slowly but surely arrive where you want to be. Finally everything will be revealed... Was this what you were expecting? I totally did not see this coming.

This is a story that makes you want to keep on reading because you so want to find out what is going to happen. And then there is that last page... I loved it and I hated it at the same time. ;) Find out for yourself and I would really like to know what your feelings are. :)

Anyway I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. 5 stars

Thank you

The Perfect Daughter has a good premise, and the story kept me turning the pages--
but the abrupt ending left me with more questions than answers. I'm a reader who likes loose ends tied up at the end of a story. In this novel, readers are left to wonder/resolve/assume 'what happens next' without the necessary Epilogue. I wish I could be more specific, but can't do that without numerous spoilers.

The book started with a bang opening, a hit and run. During most of the first half of the book I am so stressed out somebody is going to discover what Jennifer did. I really liked how the very first scene is important in the story later. This was a fast paced fabulous thriller.

A psychological thriller by author Kerry Wilkinson. I enjoy reading Kerry Wilkinson books, they are addictive, good plots, not over complicated and generally enjoyable reads. This book had me gripped early on and I was enjoying it but I felt that it failed to maintain the same suspense throughout, leaving me fluctuating from a 3 to 4 star rating.

The book opens with a hit and run leaving two casualties fighting for their lives. Following the accident the story is fast paced, lots of twists and turns, blackmail and threats. Not the best novel by this author but still a good read.

I would like to thank both Net Gallery and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
