Love everything about this series, I cried so hard in the original film, I read and watch everything that involves Baymax, even though I’m a little older than the target audience! lol. Really enjoyed this and love the art
Big Hero 6 is always full of big laughs and lots of heart. This collection does not disappoint in any way. It holds up to the movie very well. All the characters are portrayed very well and new ones are added . Hiro Hamada, like Spiderman before him, has to balance the pull of family, friends, school, and being a hero fighting supervillains all at the same time. Luckily he has his brother’s robot, Baymax, to help him, and his best friends Go Go, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred (all geniuses, excluding Fred, but he has his own value) to stand beside him ever step of the way. Unfortunately, he’s not the only little genius and his competitor may or may not have a crush on him. Also the mobster he angered in his bot fighting days has not given up the grudge against him. In fun, enjoyable, delightful art and prose, comes more adventure from San Fransokio to enjoy, and I loved minute of it. Great for kids and adult Disney fans.
There are three stories in this collection. The stories, as I understand it, were originally aired during the tv show's run. I had thought that this collection would be original stories, but as I did not see the show, I wasn't disappointed.
The comic's artwork is absolutely packed with energy. Images seem to explode out of the panels, and the characters are running, pushing, smashing, crashing....
Issue 188: Hiro is paired with a student who, previous to Hiro's enrollment, was the youngest student at the school. She's not very friendly, but has a crush on Hiro's alter ego. The gang is also fighting a pair of superheroes who trounce the gang repeatedly.
3.5 stars.
Failure Mode: A blobby villain the gang dubs Globby destroys multiple paintings, and Hiro struggles to create an original concept for a project.
3 stars.
Baymax Returns Part I: Hero's first day at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology is a little stressful, but Hero finds a disk with Baymax's specifications and code on it, allowing Hero to begin to rebuild the healthcare robot.
3.5 stars.
Though the stories were fun but not riveting, the Big Hero 6 team dynamics are the best part of these stories. Their banter and support for each other, both in school and fighting superheroes, is what made me love the them and the movie.
Thank you to Netgalley and to Yen Press for this ARC in exchange for my review.
Loved it. I loved the film, and this really captured the adventure and heartwarming feeling of the movie.
A nice series of short stories for those interested in Big Hero Six. I enjoyed the different plot lines, and seeing the banter between all members of the superhero group.
The first story with Hiro shadowing another prodigy his own age could have expanded to showing their connection about being younger than everyone else and not having gone through the same social experiences yet. The second story on art heists was fun and entertaining.
The last short story with Hiro rebuilding Baymax I think should have been put first for continuity reasons.
From my understanding, this book follows the animated Big Hero 6 TV show. I've only ever seen the movie, so this was all new to me. It seems that each of the three chapters follows a completely unconnected TV show episode. It was definitely weird. Chapter 3 should have been Chapter 1, as it was literally Hiro putting Baymax back together after he was destroyed in the movie. The chapters also left off on cliffhangers, without resolving anything, which felt weird. It was definitely nice to see more of Hiro, Baymax, and the gang, but I definitely think I'd prefer watching the actual show.
I read this as did my 3 children ages 11, 9 and 7. All of us enjoyed the book as we are huge fans of the movie. We cannot wait for more of the series to come out and read more of this series, and we hope it runs for quite a long time. Baymax is amazing.
The illustrations were wonderful and much appreciated by my family. The story line was easy to follow and splendid.
This is a wonderfully written and illustrated graphic novel. I enjoyed the images as they complimented the story. I loved the movie, and I loved the graphic novel!
Just a treat to read.. than k you for the opportunity to read this graphic novel.

Big Hero 6: The Series, Vol. 1 is an entertaining tie in to the animated Big Hero 6 show. This anime graphic novel features three short stories with Hiro, Baymax, and all their superhero friends as they fight to protect the streets of San Fransokyo. The order of the short stories is not in chronological order, so start with the last one if you are a fan of chronological order like me! The last story takes place right after the Big Hero 6 movie. These comic stories are fun, full of humor, and also feature some tough emotional moments as well.
The short stories are great. They feature great themes for children about fitting in and doing the right thing. The artwork is also awesome. The illustrations are in black and white and are perfect adaptions of the artwork from the Big Hero 6 cartoon series. The anime style of art fits in perfectly in the world of Big Hero 6 and enriches these tales even more. I think children will really like this graphic novel. The art and dialogue are perfectly geared to kids and big kids to enjoy.
If you like The Big Hero 6 movie or the cartoon series, you should read this volume and volume 2. Hiro, Baymax, Aunt Cass, and all their friends sound and act like they do in the film and television series.
These books did an excellent job adapting the Big Hero 6 universe to print without losing the voices and heart of the characters and most importantly what makes these story so enjoyable to the audience.
Stay Awesome and keep reading!

I loveeee Big Hero 6 so much. It is one of my favorite Disney movies and now books! The characters and story are adorable and I love this graphic novel. Amazing art and story. I love that it connects to the movie and tv series. 😊
It's almost exactly like the cartoon series that is on disney+ however the art and story telling is only slightly different and still holds up pretty well. It's still the same cute series that I adore and who doesn't love baymax?
Thank you to Net Galley and the Publishers for the chance to read this title!!
This was one of the first graphic novels i have read and I enjoyed it!! Big Hero 6 is huge hit at our house and I truly enjoyed this storyline!! I would totally pick up this and more volumes for my children and for the school library!
A fun tie-in for a fun movie and show, but it didn't offer any new stories. The adventures were straight from the show and didn't give any new stories.
I received this ARC copy in exchange for an honest review from Yen Press on Netgalley.
The format of my copy was a bit messed up and wasnt in the right order I think so it was quite hard to read and understand. But from what I could review of it I loved the graphics and the style of the graphic novel, the characters looked great.
I gave this 2 ⭐️ as I couldn’t really tell what was happening due to the formatting errors.

It's been a while since I saw the movie, but reading this manga felt like I only saw it yesterday. This one starts almost straight away following the events of the movie.
My biggest negative is the order of the chapters. It felt like the last chapter in this manga should have actually come first as it would have made the story flow better.
I loved all of the little individual stories in this one volume! I also love how they are no stories and this book isn’t just a repeat of the movie. I love these characters and it was so much fun to follow them along on new adventures!
Very fun with cute art to boot, Would definitely include this in our library since graphic novels and manga are excellent ways to get students who might not be readers, reading. Baymax and Gogo are two of my favorite characters.
I really liked the movie, but also thought this was interesting. Who dosen`t love Hiro and the gang?
Thank you NetGalley and Yen Press for an advanced digital copy of Big Hero 6: The Series, Volume 1.
All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I have yet to watch the show. I do love the movie, and it was great to spend a little more time with these characters in a book. I like the ideas for the chapters themselves, but they feel like they aren’t in chronological order. The plot isn’t really deep or complex. However, I do like how each of the plots mainly focus on how Hiro tries to adjust himself in an all new environment. He had a lot happen in his life, and now he is the youngest in the college he’s attending. At the same time as school he is still with his group of friends facing new villains and protecting the streets of San Francisco.
Overall, I did really enjoy reading more about Hiro, Baymax and the others. If you are a fan of Big Hero 6, this is definitely worth a read.
A great way to enjoy big hero 6 further than the film. The characters were excellent and exactly what was expected. I really enjoyed this.
