I loved this book even more than It Happened One Summer! It was heartfelt and more than just a romance book. The growth of both characters was phenomenal and we all could use a Fox in our lives.
This book is much more than a romance book. We see such complex characters especially Fox. We truly see him grow into this wonderful man who appreciates Hannah so so much. We also see Hannah helping Fox become this man, someone who deserves Hannah and who sees his self worth.
I also have to bring up the spicy scenes which are out of this world. 🔥🔥 I live for the spice in romance books and when it's more than just spice but has an actual storyline UGH makes it that much more exciting and captivating.
I loved the storyline and all of the characters so much! Tessa Bailey is definitely becoming a favorite romance author for me!
Really loved this book! The depth of their friendship from the former book “It happened one summer” created such a lovely romance for “Hook Line and Sinker.” I think the writing was funny and the romance perfect! A must read.
I know this is a super lateeee review. But just wanted to come on here and say of how great this book is and how great of an author Tessa Bailey is; definitely go check this book out and check out any book by her :)
Tessa Bailey has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I was highly anticipating Hook, Line, and Sinker as the follow up to It Happened One Summer, and Tessa and her characters did not disappoint! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time as Hannah and Fox worked their way through friendship and more. Their starting banter is what makes them the ideal couple to fall in love with. They know what they both want, yet but are too stubborn to admit their feelings towards each other. But with time they both learn that their attraction cannot be ignored and give in to experiencing a true connection with each other. Once again, Tessa Bailey delivers a fantastic read that I happily recommend to others interested in this genre.
LOVED Hook, Line, and Sinker. This was the perfect follow-up to It Happened One Summer. This story picks up where Brendan and Piper's story left off. Hook, Line, and Sinker focuses on Piper's sister, Hannah and Brendan's first mate, Fox. Hannah is down to earth and music loving. Fox is a known ladies man. Until Hannah. The sweet gestures, like buying a record player, made me fall in love with Fox! This was such a sweet love story and of course it had a happily ever after!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I live for a pining hero. *dreamy sigh*
I loved this book! Tessa Bailey's usual brand of banter, sweetness and steam made for the an addictive, unputdownable romance. I could not get enough of the connection between Fox and Hannah.
Hook, Line and Sinker felt like the perfect friends to lovers.
Ugh. Hannah and Fox are so stinking cute! Loved how Bailey handled relationship building head on. Plus if you're a music nerd, Tessa Bailey says: you're welcome.
Hook Line and Sinker is the 2nd book in The Bellinger Sister series by Tessa Bailey. I’m assuming that it is also the last book in the series since there are only two sisters. This book takes place right as the last one ends. I would recommend reading It Happened One Summer (you can read my review here) prior to reading this book, as Hannah and Fox’s dynamic is really started here.
Hannah and Fox have been texting non-stop since she left Wesport 6 months ago. Hannah is working as a production assistant to her director crush, and convinces him that Wesport will be the perfect place to film. With Piper’s guest room full, Hannah ends up staying with Fox, and the two spend the whole time trying not to bang.
This was a slow burn romance that could have used a Red Bull. It was frustratingly slow at times, which is why I knocked a star off. Overall a cute, feel good and happy romance. I liked it MUCH better than It Happened One Summer, and i find Hannah much less insufferable that I did Piper.
Tropes hit: Friends to Lovers, Slow Burn, Forced Proximity.
RED HOT READ ALERT: this book is sexy sexy. Don’t be fooled by the cutesy cover, it has major blush potential.
I love Tessa Bailey. This story was cute but I liked It Happened One Summer better. Hannah was likable and Fox was damaged and cute but I connected more with Brendan and Piper's story.
Fantastic book! I really enjoy this author and the characters really draw me in. Can't wait to read the next one!
Hook, Line, and Sinker is the 4th book I’ve read by Tessa Bailey. She’s a repeat author for me because I enjoy her books as quick and easy romances reads. I do feel like they lack depth, but also it seems like there intentional and part of the reason they are easy reads.
I enjoyed the storyline with Hannah and Fox and loved that it was a follow up to Piper’s story.
Great summer read for romance fans!
I absolutely love this series. Tessa Bailey is one of my favorite authors for a good steamy read with all the feels.
This book blew me away with all the emotions involved. Both characters were complicated and the heroine helped the hero get through the parts of his past that were keeping him from a relationship. There was witty dialogue and chemistry that flew off the pages. I love this world that Tessa has created.
I feel like it’s pretty much impossible not adore the characters in this series- even when they’re kind of out-of-touch like Piper in Book 1, or incredibly damaged by toxic masculinity and society’s hypersexualisation of handsome boys and men like with Fox, in this book, this author creates something angsty and beautifully broken out of characters that on the surface could be perceived as flaky and sort of vacuous.
The premise of this rom-com-ish but angsty romance is that from childhood, Fox has been told he will be a heartbreaker and a massive success in sexual exploits much like his ain’t ish father. As a result, feeing the need to live up to society’s expectations and also getting burned the one time he tried to buck that weight, he’s a commitment-phobic womanizer. A commitment-phobic womanizer who is best friends with sweet but lacking in confidence, Hannah. This genesis of this friendship is mentioned several times in this book but makes much more sense and makes this a richer read if you’ve read book 1 in this series (Piper’s book). Everybody loves Hannah and feels protective over her and Fox has been warned to keep his filthy reputation away from everyone’s favourite little sister (Hannah).
I liked that there was a lot of growth realised by both characters. Hannah finds her inner leading lady and begins to believe in herself and her worth, while Fox begins to heal from years of low self-worth and the damage being hypersexualised from a young age made on him. I think sometimes this was angstier and more love triangular than necessary- especially in situations where a single conversation would have solved the angst and would have fit in the narrative as Fox and Hannah have excellent communication and were quite open and honest with each other. I think another weakness of this was that even though we clearly knew and had affection for Piper and Brendan from the first novel, the supporting characters somehow didn’t pop as much as they did in the first book. That said, this was a really solid romance that took me on an emotional journey that felt deep and real and heartfelt and that really tackled a male main character’s emotions and society’s normalization of sexualisation of young boys and men with a lot of nuance and heart, and it’s not something I’ve read thematically before in a romance. Recommend if you’re looking for angst with some laughs.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Avon Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this charming love story between a notorious player and a music-obsessed woman trying to become the leading lady in her own life. Sweet and steamy—the perfect romance!
Reading Tessa Bailey's books have always been one of my favorite ways to relax, and this book might just be my new favorite!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of Hook, Line and Sinker by Tessa Bailey. All opinions are my own.
I love a good rom-com. Add in Tessa Bailey? Sign me up!
This was the sequel to another book Bailey and while I enjoyed the first one more, I did think this was a cute, fast-paced read.
ABSOLUTELY recommend! Another fantastic book in the sister series by Tessa Bailey. It's got spice, it's got romance, it's got passion, it's got . . . literally everything. Obsessed is an understatement!
I loved It Happened One Summer SO MUCH that I was worried this one wouldn’t compare, but it delivered! I want to bundle Fox up and hold him close and physically fight all the people who ever hurt him. For shame!
The way Bailey addressed toxic masculinity and how encouraging intimacy between children way too young can be detrimental was fantastic. I don’t know that I’ve ever read another romcom that addresses that. And as always, her characters were complex and wonderful and you could feel their love and insecurities leaking out of the pages. This one was a slower burn than the first, but don’t worry - you’ll get to the 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶!
I will buy literally anything Tessa Bailey writes at this point.
I see a lot of myself in both of the main characters in this book. I was really looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. Ready for what Tessa Bailey publishes next!
