I loved this sapphic romance! This is the third book in the series and I've loved all of the books so far. I typically don't like the miscommunication trope but it worked for this book. I thought the story was cute and felt the chemistry between the MCs. I would highly recommend this book!
All the feels. This series is just so lovely. Would highly recommend if you love and want a feel good romance. I just loved it so much and I need more from this author as this was delightful to read.
Count Your Lucky Stars is the third novel in the Written in the Stars series. I have really enjoyed reading these books and have become attached to the characters. And if I'm honest Margot has become my favorite character. I couldn't wait for her to get her happily ever after! So much so that I admittedly kept putting off reading this one. I recently finally bit the bullet and I'm so glad I did. No disappointment here!
Margot has made it loud and clear that she does not do relationships. Casual hook ups are her specialty and no feelings are hurt. Unfortunately, her friends have all found their happily ever after's and she is starting to feel all alone or like she is in the way. She tries to keep herself busy helping plan the dream wedding for her friends Brendon and Annie. Suddenly, a blast from the past - her childhood friend and first love Olivia - and Margot's whole world is flipped upside down.
It has been ten years but neither Olivia or Margot have forgotten each other. The first time cross path is so good! You could just tell there is alot of unresolved history between them. There were so many sparks and that was just from the initial conversation and eye contact. Then they find themselves living under the same roof and that is really when their chemistry shows.
Even with the chemistry between them both Margot and Olivia have their reservations. they each gave their hearts to their bond before and wound up broke hearted. Plus, there are still misunderstandings between them which affect their ability to commit. Alexandria Bellefleur does such a good job writing these characters. The way their dynamic is written is both spicy and heartfelt and I love every minute of it.
The dynamic between all the friends is also so well written. Even though there are two other books in the series, you can easily understand these friendships. I loved how thy welcomed Olivia into the group and never made her feel like she was just the wedding planner. And they were one hundred percent behind Margot - supporting her and also not afraid to call her out. Everyone is so accepting of each others queerness and are a hilarious group of friends.
Count Your Lucky Stars continues the bright path which Alexandria Bellefleur has created with her other romantic comedies. The characters are real with flaws and sincere emotions and very easy to get attached to. Especially Margot - I just loved her evolution as a person. I was very happy as a reader with the way everything was put together. I look forward to seeing what this author comes up with next.
Abandonment issues? This one's for you. I have a hard time finding sapphic reads that satisfy my need for good representation and good writing, and this one did the trick. This was my favorite in the series so far. It was truly a lesson in why putting others needs before your own can prove to be detrimental. I loved this book and would recommend to friends.
So unfortunately, i quit this book about 30% in. I just really wasn’t connecting with the characters or the romance, which is also how i felt in the first book in this series, so i just felt like i wasn’t going to get anything from this. A cute setup, with the wedding planner, and the forced proximity with them having to become roommates, but this was just not connecting with me.
The story itself was also great! Sexy and great chemistry, I like Olivia and Margo’s dynamic, though we didn’t necessarily see what they were like as friends only since that all happened prior to the story. But they clearly know each other well despite the huge gap in time. I liked the conflict in this book because nothing was unnecessarily dragged out to keep the story moving. It made the past miscommunications a bit more bearable. For a reason I can’t put my finger on, this isn’t my favorite of the series, but I still think it was a fantastic book.
Really enjoyed this sapphic second chance romance novel! Margot and Olivia were both such relatable and loveable characters and I was rooting for them to get their happy ending from beginning to end. I loved watching them rediscover their friendship and try to work through the lingering romantic feelings while figuring out how to make it work.
My only complaint is that the conflict that broke them up in high school was really just a case of poor communication--which is kind of frustrating and feels like a weak conflict. But I was able to look past it since there's so much else to love about this book!
Readers who enjoyed the first two in the series will enjoy this one, but it can also easily be read as a standalone. I will say that this one has a slightly different vibe from the previous two since it features a second chance romance where the two characters have already had a relationship together.
This was a pretty enjoyable book. I enjoyed the story and romance and I am always a sucker for second chance romance. Definitely a solid read.
I’m officially obsessed with this series and everything Alexandria Bellefleur writes. I read these books a bit out of order so I got to see the wedding featured in this one before the developing relationship, but oh my did it get me excited for that one. I loved this one as well, former kind-of lovers finding each other again, mild jealousy, some steamy scenes, absolute adorable-ness. My only complaint is the heavy reliance on past and current miscommunication (my personal least favorite trope, but I can respect those who love it). My biases toward miscommunication aside, I absolutely would recommend this book to anyone looking for something cozy and hot and involves characters having to confront their own flaws.
The couple of this book were childhood friends-turned-to-lovers but the relationship soured when one of them married another person. The two reunited after one of them became the wedding planner of the other's friends' wedding after ten long years apart. Things has changed for both of them, and they ended up becoming roommates after unforeseen circumstances left one of them homeless. At this new environment, the two must face what drove them apart before they can walk towards a future together.
This is the last book in the Written in the Stars series. Featuring the snarky friend from the previous two books as a main character of this book, this contemporary romantic story is about second chances for childhood friends-turned-roommates living in Seattle. The love interest has her life changed ever since she took that step that takes her away from her best friend. I enjoyed the secondary characters as they give the story some depth and entertainment. However, the romantic connection of the main couple didn't make that huge impression that the other couples from the previous books gave me. Therefore, this is my least favorite book in the series. But I still enjoyed the author's writing style and I'm still looking forward to reading future books from the author.
**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions and thoughts in the review are my own.**
A pan romance in the PNW? There couldn't be a book more up my alley. I was ecstatic when I saw the synopsis for Alexandria Bellefleur's latest in the (fave) series, and man did it not disappoint. 10/10 recommend.
I was excited to read about Margot's HEA and to revisit the other couples!
The chemistry between Margot and Olivia is amazing, plus this has the added bonus of forced proximity (I love the roommate trope!!). I am generally not a fan of the second-chance-romance, but this one is great and I would highly recommend!
This book is SO GOOD. This whole series is great overall, but this might have been my favorite. I adore Margot so much and Olivia was a great character as well. I really liked this second chance romance, the complexity of the characters, and the appearances from the main characters of the previous books. The steamy scenes were also really, really good. Overall I was very pleased with this one!
I absolutely loved this one! Character growth! Tender platonic friendships! Bisexual rep! Spice! A cat named cat!
This was honestly such a fun read, and even though I haven’t read the other two in the series (anybody else a serial requester of ARCs without realizing they’re part of a series 🙈?), I didn’t feel lost or like I was missing information.
I also really appreciated the little details such as making talking about STI testing a normal and even a box sexy part of having a new sexual partner.
This book totally met and even exceeded my gosh expectations and I’m absolutely going to have to read the other two in the series ♥️
Count Your Lucky Stars is pure Sapphic perfection! The third and final book in the series,(and let me say I'm going to desperately miss this world 😭) we finally get Margot's story.
Margot, who sometimes feels like the fifth wheel, is playing Best Woman in Brendan's wedding. Shes stunned when they meet the wedding planner and realizes exactly who she is. Olivia. Her high school best friend. The one woman she spent a glorious sexy week with right before Olivia disappeared to another college and they never spoke again. She's back and divorced. And needing somewhere to stay. And of course Margot can't help but offer her spare room. Thus begins the forced proximity we used to love each other story of our dreams!
Margot and Olivia's story is perfection! They have explosive chemistry and an unbeatable simply pure love for each other. Not only is their current relationship explored, but were also given glimpses into the past that reveal exactly what happened to them before. The cherry on top is were given the finishing stories for Brenden and Annie and Elle and Darcy. I love every character and I love this series. My only complaint is I'm absolutely heartbroken to see it end.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Thank you to Alexandria Bellefleur, NetGalley, and Avon and Harper Voyager for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
If I'm being honest, this was a bit of a lackluster conclusion to this series for me and I am BUMMED. I really appreciated how sexy this was, but the plot of the book as a whole I just found to be a bit... boring??? I can't put my finger on what exactly it was about this one that didn't quite click for me, but I think it had a lot to do with this book feeling really long. Plus, as the book went on, I feel like the suspension of disbelief was just a little too high for me to enjoy this as much as I was hoping to. Overall this wasn't bad, it was just... pretty dang underwhelming for me. I will definitely still read more from Alexandria Bellefleur in the future because I do love that her books are always extremely queer, but this one in particular just wasn't quite the right fit for me. Womp :(
CW: divorce, cheating (not between the main couple)
This is the third book in the Written in the Stars series. The series just keeps getting better and better. This can be read as a stand alone, but would be better enjoyed as part of the series. This was such a fun, easy reading, and steamy story. If you haven’t checked this series out yet, I recommend it!
Simply a cute second chance sapphic romance book. The characters were pretty good, and the story was realistic enough to be enjoyable.
I am Margot, and Margot is me. I loved this book so freaking much. Margot is so freaking funny, I was cracking up the whole book. This second chance romance mixed with forced proximity and a little best friends to lovers is everything we needed. Margot and Olivia’s history made this such a sweet romance. The vibrator cat scene had me in tears!! I loved this happy ending and Margot and Olivia’s chance at love. This book has my whole heart!
Count Your Lucky Stars is queer excellence. It's estranged best friends to lovers, I don't know what else you could possibly want. the characters were amazing and the romance was infectious and felt real and relatable
