This book started off perfectly. I was hooked with the premise. When it should have built up to a great story, it’ started unraveling into something completely different. There are so many things that don’t make sense with the plot. Why didn’t they investigate more? Why didn’t they look for more evidence? How did this woman break into a house without anyone knowing? Why didn’t she do anything after she found out the truth?
What about the poor guy who just wasted away 10 years of his life for nothing? Was there no sympathy for him? What about the coffee shop?
The main character is not someone you feel sorry for, she comes across manic and selfish.
This book can be better.

Memory is known to be fickle. What you know now may not be the truth as it happened. This is the premise of CATCH HER WHEN SHE FALLS. Her boyfriend was convicted of killing her best friend, but so many years later, she wonders if what she saw and heard was the truth or just the truth as she saw it? A twisted tale as this young woman must figure out if she is responsible for the wrong man going to prison.

The right kind of read. Engaging, had me interested from the first few chapters. I needed this book to cleanse my palette, so to speak. The writing was enjoyable and it just flowed. The characters were as should be. I wouldn't mind visiting this world again.

When Micah was a senior in high school her best friend Emily was murdered by Micah's boyfriend Alex. Micah wasn't aware that Emily and Alex were seeing each other behind her back. He was tried and found guilty, in part due to Micah's testimony, and is currently in prison. Micah has since started dating Alex's best friend Ryan and owns a coffee shop in their hometown. She thinks she's getting past this tragedy, until she starts getting threats.

I had hopes that this book would be good, but it just wasn't. Micah was very paranoid and extremely self-centered. She yells at patrons of her coffee shop and kicks them out because she believes they are talking about her behind her back. She's obsessed with a true crime website (similar to WebSleuths or Reddit, I assume) and their take and comments about Emily/Alex's case. I wasn't intrigued by any of the characters. I wasn't pulled in by the storyline. It just wasn't for me.

This was a great read. I had a hard time putting it down and was left with a bit of a book hangover afterward. Definitely recommend.

I absolutely adored this propulsive thriller. I read A LOT of thrillers so it’s unusual that I’m surprised by one, but this definitely kept me guessing! I’m excited to see what the author comes up with next.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my review copy!

I am an avid thriller reader, and like to think of myself as pretty good at figuring things out early on. This one had me guessing, though! I was continually wondering where the twists were going to take me as we followed the mystery of what happened on fateful night. I would recommend for sure!

Sadly I’m dnfing this one 21% in. It’s not grabbing my attention. I’ve picked it up and put it down multiple times over several months. I will definitely try more from this author. This book just wasn’t for me.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an arc copy in exchange for my honest review.

I love a debut so I was excited to get approved for Catch Her When She Falls. It took me a bit to get into the story but once I did, I enjoyed it. Would definitely read more from this author.

Catch Her When She Falls by Allison Buccola starts off with the intriguing premise that Micah's boyfriend killed her best friend.

What follows from there is a bit jumbled with the time shifting and a bit of an unevenly executed story.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Not very engaging, dragged along quite a bit. If I was one to not finish books, this probably would have been a DNF.

I wasn't fully invested in this novel until 3/4 into it. However, at that point, I was ready for it to end. It just dragged along and the ending was disappointing.

This one was just ok for me. I thought it moved sort of slow and the I had trouble identifying with any of the characters. I felt like it was ok, it was good enough that I didn't DNF but it was just ok. I think it was me and not the story though, the writing was very good and cohesive.

Unfortunately, this book wasn't for me. I couldn't connect with the author's voice and was not able to get through the entire book

Catch Her When She Falls is a murder mystery that caught my eye right away but then lost my attention pretty quickly. Was it a bad book, no, I just felt like something was lacking, depth to the characters? Something in the writing? I don’t know what was missing in it for my to feel engaged because this is the type of book I usually fall hard for but I just wasn’t into it, but that being said, others may love it. Give it a try if you like a good “who done it” mystery.

Such a twisty debut. A uniquely unravelling story that moves a bit slow for my taste, but I liked how the main character is framed — questioning everything around her! Timelines made me go back and forth, it wasn’t confusing for me cos I liked how engaged I was with the story. But yes, like many other readers said, could have been a 50 pages shorter. This is Allison’s debut, so I’m going to give it to her - well done!

Thank you Random House via Netgalley for the e-arc.
