This was such a fun, laid back story about a Millie and her dog bear moving to Summer Island to take over her Aunts Inn after she passed. Of course sprinkle in some romance, some ups and downs, some hurricanes and lots of tlc to an run down Inn and you have yourself the perfect summer book. Highly recommend picking this one up!

A lovely romantic read as we follow Millie who inherits her great aunts inn and decides to pack up her old life and move with her dog bear to set the inn up once again,
When told her newly inherited house can't be run as an inn she fights with determination and grit to fix it up and prove everyone wrong despite the rules and regulations, she makes a lot of new friends who all fight her corner and she is determined to keep her aunts legacy going, she hears story's of her aunt who was much loved and respected by the whole community
Can she get the inn up and running despite the obstacles she faces?
Wonderfully written and a lovely storyline, I'm hoping there is a follow on to this book as I would love to know what happened with great aunt Mildred and Henry and also what follows with Millie, Alice and Braxton

This was a charming and delightful read from start to finish. This is a wholesome romance set in South Carolina. Our main character inherits her Aunt's Bed and Breakfast. She decided to pack up her life in Chicago and start fresh by taking over her Aunt's property that holds so many memories. Upon arrival, she finds that it is not in the condition she expected. She is met by her neighbor, an ex-pro golfer, who has a much deeper personality than he let on.
This was just a joy to read. It was full of a sense of community and lovely characters. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a wholesome romance, old and new.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This book description is very much what you see is what you get. That is not a bad thing, as it is nice to pick up a book and not be blindsided by material you were not expecting, but it also can have the downside of being borderline predictable. This is one of those books that is a nice easy read, maybe on a beach much like Summer Island, where you can have your heart aflutter while not worrying about raising your anxiety levels too much. The characters are nice and well rounded, it doesn't feel like the love was forced, but it also feels like quite a few other books I have read before. Does this mean you shouldn't read it? Nope! I would even read another book about this same world (I want to know more about Tessa!), but this wasn't one of those books where I was on the edge of my seat because I was so worried about what would happen next. I could tell there was going to be a happily ever after. Bonus though - this was a very clean, PG rating book, so huge HUGE bonus in terms of romance book.

So if you are looking for a fun beach read with a HEA/HFN, this is a good book to pick up. 4/5

An engaging romance. While I have read similar stories recently, this one tugged at my heart. The usual extras of a child and a dog added a nice touch. I could certainly see this as a Hallmark movie.

Millie Leclair quickly became one of my favourite characters. This book was so wholesome, so full of empowerment but yeah so delicately touched upon the pains of tragic and heartbreaking events that make people who they are.

Being left her great aunt Mildred's Inn in her will was the fresh start Millie needed to take control of her own life. What she found when she got there was not the easy transition she hoped but Millie was determined and passionate about keeping her families legacy alive.

Regular setbacks hit Millie before she can reach her dreams, with new friends, new passions in a new community can Millie beat the odds and reopen the Seascape Inn like she hoped?

Now add a handsome ex pro golfer with a whole lot of baggage, caring for his coach and his two year old to the mix what could possibly go wrong and alter Millie's solo plans to a life of freedom and tranquility?

Braxton Channing had his own demons to battle with, his own set ways to push through and a grey cloud following him that needed some light. After the accident, is his new neighbour someone that could help push through this or was this too much to add on to a already complicated life?

I love how the author intertwined her great aunts mystery love letters into the story with the whole community owing some experience or wisdom from Millie's Great Aunt Mildred. But this comes with high expectations of Millie.

I loved the festival scene, I loved the vivid description of the reno and I loved the new allies stepping up for Millie along the way challenging the dreaded HOA.

This was a beautiful story that kept me on my toes with hope, full of empathy and feeling as determined as Millie was portrayed.

*thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

When Millie Leclair’s great aunt passes away she inherits the oceanfront bed & breakfast that’s been run by her family for years. With not much to lose she heads to South Carolina to run it, but unfortunately it’s not really business ready and needs a lot of work. On her first night there she runs into former golf star and single father, Braxton Channing, where they don’t really get off on the right foot. Moving to Summer Island ends up being a bit more than Millie bargained for.

This was such a cute feel good read, perfect for hanging pool side. I adored the setting, Summer Island just feels like the place to be and I really enjoyed the town dynamic. Everyone was so nice and helpful and I loved that sense of community. I loved Millie, she was fun and determined. I just loved her commitment to the inn & making it better! And Braxton!! I loved him so much! While he started out as a grump he’s actually so sweet and caring and has been through so much. I loved learning about his layers. The romance in this was so cute, and definitely more on the slow-burn side but I loved it. Their banter was adorable and it was just an all around enjoyable read.

I really liked this book from the very beginning, but felt like it ended just a little abruptly for my taste. I'd love to see a sequel or even prequel about Mildred's life. I really enjoyed the combination of stories and the switching between points of view in the book. I also would watch a film adaptation of this because the idea of a beautiful B&B on the ocean just lends itself so easily to being a feel good film.

I just adored this book, the setting was idyllic and so beautifully described that I could picture it perfectly. It’s a sweet romance with gentle humour and a powerful uplifting message that fighting for love and our dreams is always worth it. I couldn’t put it down and will definitely be re-reading this book for another visit to Summer Island.

Thank you so much Rachel Magee for sending me a free ARC copy of this book. I love everything about this book. its a great summer read . The cover is so perfect in everyway: it's cute, its very inviting and very cozy. one of the main things that caught my eye with this book is the adorable picture of the dog on the bottom left corner. It totally reminded me of my own dog Simba is the same breed as the dog on the cover lol.

Quite possibly my favourite book of 2021 so far. This book is perfect for a summer read - the setting is warm, inviting and makes you want to step into the pages of the book. I’m jealous of Millie’s new life circumstances and I either want to be her or be her fictional best friend.

This book has everything: beachside talks, weekend festivals, book club chats with new friends and a hurricane that could ruin all of the hard work Millie has put into restoring the inn ! It would make a brilliant Netflix movie or series and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Sherryl woods / Robyn carr books.

A sweet romance set in a small beach town in South Carolina. Millie inherits her Aunt Mildred's oceanfront Bed and Breakfast and she doesn't hesitate to quit her job and pack up her life in Chicago and move to South Carolina. She plans to start a new life and run the B&B. When she arrives though she finds the B&B in terrible shape and in need of many renovations. Millie decides to jump in and do as much of the work as she can herself and contract out the remainder with her declining pot of money.

The first person Millie meets in town is her new neighbor, Braxton Channing. He is an ex-pro golfer and a widower with a two-year-old daughter. He's also the President of the local HOA and becomes a thorn in Millie's side with his long list of rules she will need to follow.

I enjoyed this light romance and the sense of community in the small town. I would recommend this as a beach read or a quick read.

Thanks to Entangled: Amara through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on August 23, 2021.

As a fan of both HGTV renovating shows and a good romance between neighbors, this book ticked both boxes. I really enjoyed this book! The writing was great, the small town setting was believable and the spunky, fun loving main character was relatable. This book had a lot of heart and kindness and was the perfect summer read. I loved the friendship that blossomed into love as well as the side stories about Mildred's love letters and Henry's alzheimers. Beautifully written! Thank you to netgalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC.

All in all I enjoyed this PG romance by Rachel Magee. The plots been used before, woman on her own fixing up an inn then meets guy, falls in love, all ends well, but her characters were likable and believable, especially her spunky main character. And the side plots of Alzheimer’s and the hurricane were done well. In fact sometimes her writing style reminded me of Susan Mallery.
An enjoyable quick summer romance read.

I simply loved this one so much. This is my first read of Rachel Magee and all I have to say is sign me up for more. I love her writing style and how she kept me pulled in with her words. You will have some good giggles, you may tear up and you will have those swoon moments. Millie is adorable. I love her nothing can stop me attitude. She is willing to do what ever it takes to keep the family legacy alive even if it means breaking the bank and going up against the HOA. She is so sweet and caring and fits right in with the rest of the characters of Summer Island. Braxton will pull at your heart strings from being a widowed single father of adorable Alice and taking care of his mentor Henry how can you not fall for him just a little right there. He comes off as grumpy and a little angry at the world but as you get to know him and everything he carries around you will just love him so much. You see such a lighter side in him when it comes to Millie. They have a wonderful slow build relationship that will steal your heart so. I love Millie and Braxton together so much. This such a sweet romance to fall in love with. I could not put this one down.

Thank you Entangled and NetGalley for this super amazing ebook!

The Inn at Summer Island by Rachel Magee was fabulous.
I couldn't stop reading this mesmerizing story.
Once I started I couldn't stop!
The writing for this book was refreshing and there were plenty of times that I had that stupid smile on my face because of how lovey the characters were. Amazing story!
This is one seriously well written book that will grab your attention from the start and will carry you through a delightful story with equally delightful characters.
Very much recommend

I received an advance copy of, The Inn at Summer Island, by Rachel Magee. I found this book to be ok, if a little boring.

Millie leaves behind her struggling life when she inherits her great-aunt's B&B in the Lowcountry...but soon finds even more struggles when she arrives. The house is in disrepair and the HOA is hot on her trail. She learns the rules have changed and in order for it to remain a inn, she'll having to fight the HOA, and it's president - her handsome neighbor, Braxton, an ex-golf pro.

It's a fun, summer read - the storyline is easy to follow and a little predictable, but there is a hurricane thrown in the mix that messes out the best of plans. Sometimes people aren't all they show, there is more lurking in the past that you have to dig for.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review,
