Archie became anxious and impatient for his Christmas gift, so of course, he went searching for it. What he found was a magical adventure. That took him on a journey beyond his wildest dreams, where he met magical folks and other mythical beings.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I listened to the audiobook while following this ebook and I loved it so much. This is a new favorite. The book is so well written with some amazing and enchanting illustrations helping the readers to immerse themselves in this fantastic world created by Guyon. The adventure of Archibald starts when he found a strange globe at the old mansion of his late grandmother what happened next is for you to discover by reading this wonderful story of a peculiar boy who find himself in another strange world where magic exists and where young witches lives fighting against some odd creatures called the Morodors but it is not all about Archibald's story because there are some mysterious hidden family secrets that will be reveald to our hero and it won't be the end of his adventures.
This story is a mix between Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia with a more captivating plot. I loved the world building, the characters are so well developed, smart and funny, also I loved the strong female characters that you just dream to be like them when you're a little girl. This was a great work of creativity that will see a future success that's for sure.
I had requested this assuming it was a picture book, but it turned out to be a 350 page novel. I hence opted for the audiobook too and will be giving the complete review on the audiobook page.
The illustrations placed on the pages and within the text are really neat and interesting. For me the plot was not grabbing me to continue on and finish it. For a number of people this book can be a great adventure read.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Archibald Finch and the Lost Witches is an amazing middle grade read that turned out to be so much fun!
In this book we follow Archibald who falls into a world different to our own. I thoroughly enjoyed his adventure and the creativity of the story and the monsters brought to life through it.
I wasn't very keen on Archibald at first but he soon began to grow on me.
This book was so hard to pull myself away from and the illustrations dotted through it are absolutely stunning!
I also found so much humour within the pages of this book which the target audience will absolutely love!
What a great all rounder book this was!!
This was a fun adventure story targeted to middle school age readers. There are a couple minor missteps and it ends on a cliffhanger--not cool. Otherwise, it's very engaging. Archibald could be pretty annoying but I loved his sister, Hailee. The audiobook narration was very well done. The black and white artwork in the book are worth checking out, even if you listen to the audiobook.
Sadly I had some troubles downloading it and couldn´t read it by the time it was archived. In spite of it, it does sounds like an incredible story that I would love to check out in the future!
This book was the perfect adventure I didn’t know I wanted to read. An old manor, a mystery globe, witches and two investigating teenagers, I got sucked into this story the same way Archibald got sucked into his own adventure.
This is the kind of book you read snuggled into a blanket, with a cup of tea. This is the book I wish I had read when I was a kid and it made me nostalgic of those times.
The illustrations are enchanting and make it so easy to get lost into this world and the inventiveness of the language was exquisite, it felt like a piece of candy melting on the tongue.
As a girl, I would have wanted nothing more than to be a witch in Gristlemoth and I would have wanted to be friends with Maven and Faerydae.
I can’t wait to read the sequel, but more than anything, I hope we’ll soon get a French translation because I can’t wait to have all my students read this wonderful story.
