This series is my new favorite! The plot is so entertaining and it is so easy to get lost in the story. The characters are amazing and I laugh throughout the book. Eagerly awaiting the next book!

Once again, Jesse Q. Sutanto has poor Meddelin in a hilarious and potentially dangerous crisis. Not only is she getting married, but her wedding vendors are actually a mafia family!
I didn't enjoy this book quite as much as Dial A for Aunties because I felt like it really tested my ability to suspend my disbelief. The aunties are still hilarious and doing The Most ™ (those fascinators!) but I just had a hard time with some of the plot lines. I also struggle a bit with how Sutanto writes the romance between Meddy and Nathan. It feels very flat and almost entirely physical. I know this isn't really a romance but I wish there had been a bit more elaboration on their feelings for each other so there could have been a bit more tension when Meddy is running around during her wedding trying to keep her aunties in line.
This was still a fun romp and the aunties were funny and cringey and I felt so bad for Meddy. I would recommend it for anyone who really loved Dial A for Aunties.

I didn’t realize this was a sequel when I requested it and hadn’t read the first installment. But that fact did not prevent me from enjoying the book. It was a laugh a minute romp as Meddie, her mom and her aunts try their best to rescue her wedding from an expected crisis involving their wedding planners. While Meddie and Nathan, her betrothed, are both of Indonesian descent, Nathan grew up in a family that totally assimilated into the prim and proper British culture. Calling Meddie’s family prim and proper is the opposite of how anyone would describe them. Meddie and Nathan decide to hold a destination wedding in Oxford and Meddie’s crazy aunts and mother learn all the English slang they can in anticipation of their trip to England and what results is hilarious as they “cheerio, luv, and dog bullocks” their way through the day as they try to fit in. Trying to imitate the British accent and manner of speaking with their broken English is a riot. All the characters in the book are well drawn, from Meddie’s crazy family to Nathan’s staid one and Nathan’s parents’ reaction to Meddi’s mom and aunts is spot on. About three quarters of the way through the book, however, the situation became a bit ridiculous and unbelievable. Still overall it was a good read. After the welcome unexpected surprise that was book 1, I could not WAIT to read more from Jesse Q Sutanto and was thrilled to WIN an advance reader's copy from Berkley + Shelf Awareness from their Spring Women's Fiction giveaway - as SOON as I received it I just HAD to read it!

As always, I'm a total sucker for any book set at a wedding, and this one brought all the best shenanigans from Meddy + her aunties, at her very OWN wedding and it could not have been more ridiculous and entertaining.

What I loved about it was knowing that it could be read as a stand-alone title as well, but brought all the familiar aspects of the first in the series that I enjoyed. The family relationships, the look into families, and all their similarities and differences that make each person who they are combined with the LOVE that truly brings them all together just makes me smile throughout Sutanto's books.

Full of drama and humor, plenty of twists and turns that just get better and better with every page, FOUR AUNTIES AND A WEDDING was a delightful, fun read that I really enjoyed, 4.5 stars from me. I'm already looking forward to seeing where this crazy family takes their flair for disaster and mischief next.

OH, Meddy, my sweet summer child, you are far too sweet and trusting for the scenarios that come with your family.

We follow as Meddy is getting married to our darling Nathan, and they have decided to get married at Oxford. After choosing venues and hiring "family" organizers, everything is going to be a blast.... then they realize the organizers intend to blast someone, and we join Meedy in a worldwide adventure.

This book begins with the same ridiculous charm that this author always does perfectly. The cosy comfort that made reading funny and sweet. I was happy to see Meddy getting her dream, and although I wanted more of a backbone with her family at HER wedding, I did love that strong family tie.
Also, this book showed discrimination; Meddy's family tried hard to be respectful and learn more about British customs, and although they were all wrong, they tried. On the other hand, Nathan's family didn't grasp the whole language and culture barrier between the two Asian/English families, which pissed me off; they just dismissed or lashed out at them without trying to understand that they were TRYING!

Unfortunately, like the first book, I had a problem with the repetitiveness of the kidnappings and the miscommunication between Meedy and Nathan, and I was mad for Nathan. I know she couldn't tell him, but either lie better as lives are on the life OR look him in the end and say, I know this is strange, and I'm being weird, but I cannot stress how much I need you to trust me, their relationship is strong to go on.
I won't be continuing with the series if there is more, as I don't think it has more to offer, and I don't want to hate the series. I believe it has reached the limit of ridiculous charm and my limit of repetitiveness.

Wow. This book was wild. I smiled, I laughed, I cringed, I laughed some more but I would expect nothing else from this sequel. The aunties were a little too nutty for me at times that it began to feel on the unbelievable side. But it’s all in good fiction fun so I can’t complain.

This is a very fun book and suitable sequel for Dial A for Aunties. It reminded me how lucky I am to have a somewhat close extended family and generally was an entertaining and heartfelt read.
I recommend it to people who are willing to suspend their disbelief and enjoy comedic drama as it unfolds in front of them.

I still love these big-hearted, but utterly ridiculous characters but sadly I struggled through this sequel finding the plot really dragged in the middle and was underwhelming at the end.

Nathan and Meddy’s Oxford wedding is an over the top Indo-Chinese affair that goes completely awry in the most ridiculous ways. I really hated how much Meddy kept lying to Nathan and that he didn't seem to get more upset than he did.

Overall this one just didn’t have quite the same magic as Dial A but I’m still going to be first in line for book 3! Much thanks to NetGalley and Berkely Books for my advance review copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Aunties are back! While this is a fun read, I felt parts of it were silly and far-fetched. The Aunties were charming in parts, with their desire to speak in British dialect and wear outlandish Fascinators, they also were portrayed as silly over-generalized characters in parts. I was rather annoyed that Meddy kept leaving her wedding reception to tangle with the mafia and never let her husband in on the mess they were in. All in all it was a fun, light hearted spoof of a romance, but I found it got tiresome at the end.

Have you read “Dial A for Aunties?” It was so good right? Well this is the next in the series, comes out 3/29/22.

If you haven’t read the Dial A yet, def read that first. If you don’t, I think you’ll be lost.

This one started off soooo strong. In the first 20% I thought it was gonna be better than the first! Laughing, hooked right away. I was thinking we were off so strong. But then after 15% it kinda leveled out for me. It was ok but it was super wild and all over the place. It’s really hard because the first in this series was amazing and I was holding it to that standard. Ya know?

I think this book ends setting up for a third…so we’ll see!

The aunties were back and they were a HOT MESS with faux British accents and Komodo Dragon fascinators. The first 23% of this book were un-put-down-able. I loved it. I read all 23% on the 52 minute flight from LAX to Oakland, CA and I laughed out loud...loudly...four separate times! I was so excited that this was picking right up where Dial A For Aunties left off.

My biggest fear with this release was that it wouldn't be able to hang with Dial A and for the beginning of the book I would have argued this was better than the 1st. Then we arrived in England for the wedding and the wheels fell off the bus and we went careening around Oxford and I can't say it was pretty.

Was this still enjoyable and fun? YES! Did I love the aunties? Double YES! The problem for me...it felt too forced in crazy shenanigans that weren't necessary to the overall story line? I mean the mafia? Insert baby eye roll.

Meddy needs some serious boundaries and that's coming from someone who has a loud family that knows everything and I love it. But to basically miss your entire wedding for these random shenanigans and a Mom and Aunties who classify everything as an "emergency"? Yeah guys...this fell flat for me around 24% and never really righted the ship.

I did enjoy it, but nothing can compete with the magic of the first installment of this series.

If you read Dial A for Aunties you'll recognize the characters and their madcap antics. This time, the aunties and Meddy try to thwart a plot to ruin Meddy's wedding. A nice escape read that had it's funny moments, but (for me) failed to live up to they hype set by the first book. What didn't translate to a novel, though, would make a funny movie, and I'd be surprised if this series hasn't already been optioned.

I love the "aunties". They are sweet, funny, smart, and determined. They are wedding planners by trade but when their niece Maddy and Nathan start planning their wedding in London, Maddie insists that they be guests, not plan her wedding. Another "family" appears, also Chinese/Indonesian, to be the wedding planners in the Aunties' place. Misunderstanding and chaos ensues. From finding out the new family is "mafia" and plans to kill someone at the wedding to kidnappings, to chaotic dinners, to dragon wedding hats, this story is a crazy, entertaining romp all the way through. I will definitely read anything written about Maddie and her crazy aunties.

I was so excited to pick up the sequel to Dial A for Aunties, which is one of my favs of the year! Similar to my last review of Finlay Donovan Knocks Em Dead, I didn’t enjoy the sequel as much as the original.

If you read Dial A for Aunties & thought those aunties were a handful, you have no idea. The hijink in this one are wild, y’all. It was a little too much for me.

I still laughed a ton & will read anything Sutanto writes, but the level of absurdity was next level and I found myself rolling my eyes just as much as giggling.

Nathan, Meddy’s fiancé, is the most patient person & I wouldn’t have been the same in his situation. I just wanted to shake him!

It’s definitely still worth the read and it was nice to dive back into the crazy aunties’ world, especially when you add in the mafia & a new, fun location!

Four Aunties and a Wedding is out March 29, 2022.

I didn’t really LOVE the first book, Dial A for Aunties, but I thought I would try again with this ARC of Four Aunties and a Wedding. The conclusion I’ve come to is that both these books would make hilarious movies.

Four Aunties and a Wedding is more of the same over-the-top antics and hijinks. Setting aside the fact that I’m not of Asian descent, I do still have some crazy ass relatives and I get how annoying and loveable they can be. The craziness gets a little boring after a while, though, and I wished for more of an actual story.

I’m sure many readers will love this book. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. I give it a solid 3 stars and thank Berkley and Shelf Awareness for making this ARC available to me via Netgalley.

After enjoying Dial A for Aunties so much, when I saw the ARC available on NetGalley I knew I had to request it! Meddy and Nathan are getting married and the Aunties follow them to England for a dream wedding, with lots of hilarious shenanigans just getting there. The Aunties convince Meddy to hire another family to be the wedding vendors and Meddy quickly become close with the photographer, Staphanie. Once in England, between preparing for her wedding day, introducing the families, and trying to respectfully tame her family antics, Meddy discovers that Staphanie and her family are actually mafia and they are using her wedding to take someone out! Staphanie blackmails her to keep the wedding going, threatening to take them to the police. What follows is Meddy and her Aunties trying to protect everyone at the wedding from mafia vendors and absolutely hilarity ensues. The sequel is heartwarming and a joy to read! I already recommend Dial A for Aunties to everyone I can, but I’ll definitely eat adding this to the list too.

Amazing book! I would highly recommend this book to my customers and patrons. I would recommend other books by the same author as well.

This follow-up to Dial A for Aunties is equally ridiculous and entertaining. Meddy and her college sweetheart Nathan are getting married in London, and her over-the-top mother and aunts are about to meet his reserved family. Plus, the wedding vendors they booked might have another agenda for the trip (murder?!).

It was fun revisiting these silly characters in this sequel. I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the original, partly because the aunties' behavior gets even more out of control and it stressed me out, but it was still a very funny and enjoyable read.
