This series is one of the first that truly made me want to travel to a setting. Character driven (human and 4 legged), fantastic setting, light romance, fudge, AND murder mysteries.... WIN WIN!!!

Fantastic series. One of the first Cozy series I started way back when. Highly recommend!

Fudge shop owner Allie McMurphy never expected her maid of honor duties to include clearing the groom of murder...

I will take any excuse to revisit Mackinac Island, the car-less, fudge-filled island in Michigan, and these sweet mysteries are the perfect getaway vehicle. The mysteries keep me engaged and I enjoy the storyline that continues from book to book. This title is later in the series (#9), so, while you don't have to read the other titles, it does enrich the experience.

The book is a fun, cozy mystery with mouthwatering fudge recipes, great descriptions of the island and of course, Allies pets, which all give great color and background to mystery itself. Throw in a handsome police chief and an equally handsome bed and breakfast owner who are both interested in Allie, and we get to see how she works through her doubts and questions. I really enjoyed how this book is filled with just the right amount of detail to paint vivid pictures of all the surroundings on the island. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I always enjoy reading a new book in this series because I feel this is one of the better cozy series out there. The storyline is always well written and moves along at a fast pace. The characters are likable and realistic. There are plenty of red herrings to keep the reader engaged and seriously, Mackinac Island and fudge?!! It's a winner!

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Tourist season is just starting on Mackinac Island and the McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop is going to be very busy. Allie’s best friend Jenn is back in town and she has two weddings lined up with the guests filling the hotel. One of those weddings is her own and she has ticked off everything on her to-do list. The one thing not on her list was MURDER and having her fiancé Shane named the police’s prime suspect has really fudged up her plans. Everyone that knows Shane knows he would never kill anyone but he’s not talking and neither is Allie’s tentative boyfriend Rex. They want Jenn and Allie to leave the investigation to them but the entire town knows there is no way that is going to happen.

I was so happy to return to Mackinac Island. It really is an idyllic setting that I have always wanted to visit. For now, I have to settle for Ms. Coco’s delightful descriptions for a virtual vacation.

The characters in this series have really worked their way into my heart. Allie is happy all the renovations are complete and soon the outside will have a fresh coat of paint and guests will be filling all the rooms and tourists will be popping in to buy her fudge. She is also excited about Jenn’s wedding and wants to be sure everything is perfect for her. True best friends, they stick together through thick and thin. Their guys are being pretty shady in this installment but think they have a good reason. Newlyweds Frances and Douglas, they are so cute together. They are truly rocks that Allie can always lean on. They really seem to be unflappable no matter the crisis.

With Jenn’s wedding taking place soon Shane’s family is staying off the island, but her family and Allie’s parents all check in to the McMurphy. I loved that Allie’s mom and dad came for the wedding. They are so supportive of everything Allie is doing with the hotel and fudge shop. Plus they were needed when the scheduled plans went awry. They too remained calm under pressure and allowed Allie the time to do a bit of sleuthing along with her maid of honor duties which are vast when the groom is accused of murder.

Ms. Coco has created such a genuine group of core characters for this series. Truthfully most of the people we meet have good hearts and are willing to help anyone in any way they can. It wouldn’t be a murder mystery without a bad apple or two but she hides them very well until all the clues are mixed together and fall into the right place.

The mystery she has penned in Here Comes the Fudge really tugs on the heartstrings because you want Jenn and Shane’s wedding to go off without a hitch. Allie does turn to a group she knows hears all the gossip on the island to try to get to the bottom of the crime. These ladies are a hoot but they are a fantastic source. The author does an excellent job of twisting things up which means Allie needs more than the seniors can tell her to find the real killer. With plenty of misdirection, I had eliminated the true culprit and was surprised by the very exciting ending.

Romance in this story has an interesting twist too. Allie has a new admirer. . . yup and Rex is not happy.

I can’t forget the fudge recipes. I think I gained 5 pounds just reading them. Peanut Butter and Chocolate Fudge, oh, dear, so easy to make, I am in big trouble.

Here Comes the Fudge is a strong example of a perfect cozy mystery and a Perfect Escape. A strong family element, true friendships, and lovable pets, all brought together with a captivating mystery, plenty of humor, and a smidgen of romance. I loved it!

The next book in this fun series, A Midsummer Night’s Fudge is being released on May 24. I will be reading and reviewing it soon!

This is book 9 in the Candy-Costed Mystery series and can be read as a stand alone but the wedding being planned is for re-occuring characters from previous books. Set on beautiful Mackinac Island it is a great tourist guide. You just need to remember that there are no vehicles on the island. Jenn and Shane are going to be married before the tourist season gets into full swing until Shane is the chief suspect in a murder. Allie and her friends need to solve the crime quickly so the wedding can go forward. I enjoy this series and has me looking into vacationing in the area. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Here Comes the Fudge is the latest installment in Nancy Coco's Fudge Shop Mysteries, set on picturesque Mackinac Island. I've always enjoyed these and this one is no exception.

Allie is trying to make everything perfect for her best friend Jenn's wedding... and as usual, things go awry. But she never dreamed she'd spend the days leading up to the nuptials trying to clear the groom of murder.

It's been enjoyable to see how characters have grown and how relationships have progressed through the series. This one seemed to go a little deeper on some of those and still give us a page turning story, 4.5 stars to this great mystery.

I didn't realize this was the ninth story in the series, but I enjoyed it without having read the others. Like any great cozy mystery, there are several red herrings, interesting twists, and the ending is a good one! I'll have to catch up on the others in the series. Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for an advanced reader copy of this book for an honest review.

Set on beautiful Mackinac Island, you get a glimpse into the life of full-time residents on the historic island. In addition to the enjoyable cozy mystery, there are delicious fudge recipes throughout the book. Love this series.

A fast paced novella with quick and easy fudge recipes mixed in to sweeten the story. A groom who isn't talking, a cop who has poor timing, a fellow B&B owner with sparkling eyes, and a fudge-maker/B&B owner who will not let her best friend (aka the bride) down. As if not sharing intel on a murder is going to stop Allie McMurphy from getting involved. Undaunted and undeterred she sets out to make sure the bride and groom get there happy ever after. The story takes place over a week and a half and I was tired for her just after the second day. Up before the gulls caw making fudge for the store and online sales then changing gears to run the family hotel and then there are the maid of honor duties. How did she have the energy to be a sleuth? Oh, and a little romance was thrown in as well. The story kept pace and had plenty of mystery all the way up to the end. Now to make some fudge and brownies from the yummy recipes found between the chapters. la with quick and easy fudge recipes mixed in to sweeten the story.

Here Comes the Fudge by Nancy Coco is book nine in the A Candy-Coated Mystery series. It can be read as a standalone as Ms. Coco does a great job getting you up to date.
The well written Cozy has everything you want in a story. There are plenty of twists and turns, family, friendship, humor, cute pets, a possible love triangle, and a wedding. You also get fudge recipes sprinkled throughout the story.

HERE COMES THE FUDGE is the ninth book in Nancy Coco’s “Candy-Coated” cozy mystery series. Mackinac Island, Michigan has a cozy small-town vibe, but things get very weird and very horrifying quickly. The story opens with good friends Allie and Jenn discussing Jenn’s rapidly approaching wedding. The author lures you into a false sense of security before that peaceful feeling is blown to smithereens. It’s like something out of a thriller. Jenn grows anxious when she can’t get ahold of her fiancé, and it turns out that the reason she can’t reach him is because he is found in highly suspicious circumstances at a crime scene. For longtime readers of the series like myself, we experience the same bafflement and disorientation that the readers do. I love the story crafted by Nancy Coco that mixes cozy charm with bigtime thrills.

Usually, a murder opens a book in this series but, in this case, the mystery surrounds the violent attack near the start of the book and the identity of the attacker. I was very frustrated with Jenn’s fiancé Shane. Shane is a crime scene investigator, recurring character, and basically all-around good guy. The doubt that creeps in about his character is only exacerbated when Shane refuses to explain to his fiancé and friends how he found himself in that alley with that injured woman. Everything is eventually explained to everyone’s satisfaction, but it’s frustrating how long Shane stays silent and refuses to give his fiancé more info. It’s as though Allie must work against the person she’s trying to clear of a crime. Very unusual but makes for a compelling story. When a man is murdered, the stakes become even greater. Like so many of my favorite other mysteries, understanding the past is critical to understanding what’s going on in the present. Allie’s Historic McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop is like another, albeit silent, supporting character.

HERE COMES THE FUDGE is a superb bit of suspense worked into a classic cozy mystery. There is somewhat of a resolution for the romantic flirtation between Allie and officer Rex Manning. Rex is ok, but I’m kind of rooting for the charming man about town, Harry Winston. Allie’s bichonpoo Mal, as always, provides comic relief and the cute factor to cut the tension. I look forward to Nancy Coco’s “Candy-Coated” cozy mystery.

It's spring and it's time to return to Mackinac Island and the McMurphy hotel. I like this series but found that I didn't enjoy this one as much as previous ones in the series. I think this is because I didn't like some of the choices that Allie made. It was an interesting mystery and the book is an easy read. Also the fudge recipes sound very yummy!

Princess Fuzzypants here: This is another series that always delivers an entertaining read. The McMurphy is all set for the new season and it is going to be a wedding destination for Aliie’s best friend Jenn. As the Maid of Honour and Innkeeper, it is her job to make sure everything runs according to plan. She is well on her way to accomplishing this. That is until she discovers a body in an alleyway, another injured party and the groom standing over both of them with a dripping knife. Now the biggest question is whether the groom will still be free to say his vows.

Neither Shane, the suspect, nor Rex, the detective are very forthcoming about the crime or whether Shane is a suspect or not. Naturally the rumour mill is running full tilt so Allie and Jenn believe they need to figure out who committed the crimes so the wedding will go off without a hitch. In spite of her best efforts the fates are not with the happy couple and after some thrilling moments, they do discover the killer. Unfortunately, he discovers them first. It is going to be a race against time if everyone is going to come out of this alive.

Lots of fast pace action and suspense, these books always make me want to take a trip to Mackinac Island to stay at the McMurphy. Highly enjoyable, I give this five purrs and two paws up.
