Effie's family and her life seem to be falling apart - her parent's are divorcing, her dad has an new girlfriend, and now her family home is being sold and she is not even officially invited to the final party. Effie decides she is going to sneak in to the house to retrieve a piece of her past. While hiding she discovers things about herself and her family. Can she find a way to reconnect her family?

So[hie Kinsella continues to be my go-to author when I need a good laugh. The Party Crasher had me in stitches at times. It's a light, funny, heartfelt book that will warm your heart.

I hadn’t read a book by Kinsella since Shopaholic but her writing is as fun as I remember. This book follows Effie whose family home is being sold. Effie is devastated and refuses to go to the goodbye party…until she remembers she’s left her beloved Russian dolls in the home. Effie has to find a way to get her treasures all while learning more about her family and reckoning with her own past.

I enjoyed this one and while the set up was a bit slow for me I liked the deeper moments in this lighthearted romp.

A cute light read to curl up with on a weekend afternoon. The story was fun, engaging, and fresh. Light enough to plow through while trying to distract yourself from life.

Such a fun read! Effie's dad and new fiance are selling the old family home, and Effie is not happy about it. When the new fiance throws a Goodbye House party, Effie refuses to attend, even though she MUST retrieve her Russian Dolls before the house is sold. Adventure ensues, and Effie learns a beautiful lesson in love, and "moving on".

This is a well written story, though a little slow and light at first. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and was well satisfied with the ending.

Years back, I was a big Sophie Kinsella fan and would read every book that would come out and then a few of her books more recently didn’t peak my interest and I thought she sort of lost it—I was absolutely wrong because this was Kinsella writing like she used to! Loved it! This book was witty, funny, and entertaining with just enough real emotion and feeling to keep you into it from the beginning all the way through the end! Really enjoyed this one!

The Party Crasher is a good book, by a fabulous author....but selfishly, I was hoping for this to be a really good book, dare I say a fabulous book, by this wonderful author. Sophie Kinsella has made a name for herself with her quick wit and humor, especially with her beloved Shopaholic series. Her latest book, however, lacks a bit of the luster and flair that her loyal readers have come to expect from her characters and storyline. That being said, The Party Crasher is still fun, easy to read, and delightful in its own way. The theme of family loyalty and love during a bittersweet time in one family's life, is thoughtful and sweet and will please readers who are wanting a weekend of light reading. Sophie Kinsella's books are always an enjoyable read. A bunch of emotion crammed into one woman who has to figure out how to handle it. In this case, it's all about a childhood family home being sold, a divorce, dad's girlfriend, an ex-boyfriend and other family ties. As a child of divorce, I loved it! I think there are some feelings about divorce, especially for adult children, that she hits right on the head. Plus, there's a bunch of uncomfortable family scenes, a super stubborn protagonist and a happy ending.

The perfect happy quick read with lots of laughs and lots of heart. A long time fan of Kinsella, I always grab her books and know that I will fall in love with the characters and this one didn’t disappoint. Effie was a wonderfully relatable character and I adored the family aspect of this book!

Sophie Kinsella ‘s latest is a fun and lighthearted read. The book takes place over the course of a few days, and you’ll read it just as quickly (or quicker!). Per usual, Ms. Kinsella’s supporting characters are well-developed, and easy to welcome into your life. I enjoyed escaping into this book!

Sophie Kinsella will always hold a special place in my heart, I was 18 when my sister first shared Confessions of a Shopaholic with me. I've been hooked since and her books will always feel like going home. As you can imagine i was thrilled to read this book and review. The party crasher was witty, poignant and loving. Focusing on what we perceive to the actual truth and the power of family and leaning on those you love when you need them the most. I already miss the family relationships in this book ♥️

With its light and fun premise, The Party Crasher strikes the right balance between being serious and using humour. Crashing a family party and being privy to what people are saying about you is the perfect premise for a rom-com.

Once again, Kinsella's supporting cast is just as strong as her main characters. Effie is a bit clueless at times, but she is far from frustrating—she is endearing and enchanting. Although Effie overhears some hard truths and shocking secrets, she ultimately learns the most about herself.

If you are looking for an adorable rom-com, look no further. The Party Crasher is a humorous and heartwarming novel about family, set against the backdrop of the most fabulous party you’ve ever snuck into. Thank you, Sophie, for another gem!

Sophie Kinsella is one of my favorite authors. She has been for many years. Her book are light yet filled with laughter and love. "The Party Crasher" is just as good as all of her other novels. Definitely worth the read if you are wanting a book that makes you laugh, cry and just want to hang out with the characters.

If you lived the Shopaholic series, you’ll love this. Unfortunately, I don’t. This book fell in the annoys me category, Which is a shame because, except for our heroine Effie, I liked everyone else. She was quite selfish thinking only about her feelings. And she had a tendency to jump to conclusions a lot. The story, minus her craziness, was quite heartfelt and entertaining. I did enjoy the comical moments though!

Sophie Kinsella really knows how to bring the drama while still keeping things light and humorous! I rolled through The Party Crasher in a day. The whole main story takes place within just a few days, with a majority of it during a "house-cooling" party set at Effie's (the main character) childhood home that her father and his new girlfriend are selling. There's been some animosity between Effie and them, which means that Effie isn't invited, then is passive-aggressively invited to the party. She declines to go, but then realizes that a prized possession of hers is still at the house. Hijinks ensue, former loves come back up, Effie sees her siblings in a new light, and overall, a nice ending comes about.

If you're a fan of Kinsella's writing, then you'll love this book. It had heart, growth, family drama, and a sweet ending. Pick it up if you want a swift read that will make you smile!

The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella is quick witted, endearing and exactly what you would expect from this author. The narrator Effie, the youngest in the family, is forced to learn that not everyone is perfect and that relationships are not always what they appear on the surface.

Effie was devastated when her parents marriage fell apart two years ago. Since then, her father has taken up with a woman that Effie doesn't trust causing a rift between the two that she doesn't understand. Her older siblings have their own problems to deal with and don't have the energy to solve all of Effie's problems for her now that she is in her thirties. And then there's Joe, the love of her life and the one that shattered her heart. The final straw, however, is that their childhood home has been sold and it's time to say goodbye to old memories.

I'm a fan of Kinsella and love the way she writes. It's so easy to relate to her characters as they think and feel the way most people do about life. Looking forward to her next novel.

Effie and her siblings are the grown children of a recently divorced couple. Her dad, Tony, has a flashy younger girlfriend who is "assisting" him with selling the family house. There is a "house cooling" party to which Effie is marginally invited. Effie wants to retrieve a special childhood memento, but does not want to attend the party. She dresses in black to conduct a stealth mission during the party and hilarity ensues. A funny, light read!

I really enjoy Sophie kinsella books. She’s been a favorite author I’m of mine for a very long time. This one left me wanting a little bit more but it’s deff in my top 3. Highly recommend

Kinsella continues to be one of my favourite writers, her heroines are always flawed, likeable and always get up to crazy hijinks! Her books always make you think about life, the future with a sense of humour and hope.

I've long been a fan of Sophie Kinsella and was excited to read The Party Crasher. I'll admit it took me a few chapters to really get into the story, but once I did, it did not disappoint. Effie is still reeling from her parents' divorce and the introduction of her dad's new girlfriend when she learns that they will be selling her childhood home. Her father's girlfriend decides to have a "house-cooling" party in order to send off the estate with one last hurrah. Everyone is invited... including Effie's ex... everyone except Effie. When Effie decides to "crash" the house-cooling party to confiscate some of her belongings before they're sold, hijinks ensue.

This was a quick and funny read, but there was still plenty of substance. The characters were dealing with relationships, familial bonds, and learning to be truly authentic. If you like Sophie Kinsella's tried and true style, this book will hit the spot!
