There's a lot going on in burnout lit right now, but Malesic's book is the best thing I've read on the subject. He chooses unusual and very apt people and groups to illustrate his points. And most importantly, he shares his own personal story which makes it compelling, relatable and authentic. He is a recovering academic, but he is not elitist in the slightest bit. He is the opposite. It's not academic or jargony. It's an entertaining, propulsive read. It's not "self-helpy" but rather "us-helpy." He makes a strong case for the need for us, humans, to do things differently and envisions ways that we, as a society, can do so.
