Stellar sequel! Loved the twists and turns. Definitely went some places I wasn’t expecting, which was great. Can’t wait for the next book.
I love the world that Andrea Stewart built in The Bond Shard Daughter and I appreciate the relationships that she explored in The Bone Shard Emperor. I feel that this novel suffered a bit from trying to focus on too much without giving the reader enough information about the history of the Empire. I love how the book moves between characters from chapter to chapter but I felt the order at times could have been adjusted to better support the plot.
This is such a unique story and there are many supporting characters that I hope have a larger role in the final book of the trilogy. I will definitely read it to see where the story goes.
I love this series! The new novel take up the action really fast and we find ourselves reading about those characters and this world that we love so much. The plot is solid and the overall storyline is as good. Very good, totally worth the hype and praise it received! I recommend it!
Overall, I really enjoyed this! As with the first book, the world building is incredible. It's just enough to transport you without feeling like you are so bogged down in mythology, history, etc. that you can't keep track of any of it. I also loved that some of the more minor characters from the first book were developed more. Plus, sassy Mephi is always great. I like the relationship between Jovis and Lin but wanted it to be developed and delved in to more. It wasn't super believable for me unfortunately.
this wasn’t as great as the first one but i still really enjoyed it and loved the story! andrea’s writing is so good
What a fantastic follow up to The Bone Shard Daughter. With the same POVs as book 1 (thankfully, I’m not sure I could have kept track of any more), in The Bone Shard Emperor we see the paths of those characters intersect and merge in such a satisfying way. We also learn more about Mephi and Thrana, though with still many more mysteries to uncover. All in all, a thoroughly engrossing sequel.
