Eerie and surreal. This gave me the shivers. This is not my usual go to genre but I’m glad I picked it up.
Filled with suspicion, breakdowns in communication and misunderstandings. I kept changing my mind about who the liar was, but I did guess correctly. The story held my attention throughout.
It's obvious a lot of research has been done into the medical side of the plot. The usual twists and tension I've come to expect from the author is also in abundance. A good read.
The book features mainly on a little girl that has a renal disease. This causes a lot of tension in her parents' marriage, and this make it an entertaining read. A lot of secrets exist between the parents as well.
The Liar's Child by Sheryl Browne was another fantastic book and I've just loved all of Sheryl's books especially as was fast paced throughout with great twists and turns that just had you sitting on the edge of the seat. Sheryl has a way of bringing into the book.
I can highly recommend this seres of books they have been Brilliant!
Big Thank you to Netgalley and especially Bookouture for my ARC for an honest review. I can't thank you enough.
A book of misunderstandings which caused the twists to happen, when actually it could have been solved had the Kay and Matt sat down to communicate properly. But luckily for me, the author used this lack of time to have the conversation the beginning of a thriller with twists and turns. I could guess one of them but the rest were definitely astonishing. Kudos to the author for great research on chronic renal disease.
A fun read with an fiery ending.
This book was full of suspense. It was very well written with alot of medical research done to back up the storyline. I found a couple of the characters to be frustrating but it was a great book that I would recommend.
Full review to come on Goodreads and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
Great read. So many twists and turns to unravel all the way through. You could picture yourself in the hospital with the characters. A very interesting storyline regarding paternity. My heart went out to Poppy.
Not the best. These people, for a happy marriage, really don't know how to communicate which made the entire book an eye roll for me.
The book is a nice addition to my very few section of already read thriller books. In addition to this, the story was very well told that it did not gave me a hard time digesting every detail.
I loved this book it had me hooked from the start. Really well written and keeps you wanting more right from the first page. I would highly recommend this book.
One of those frustrating far fetched books where you know how to resolve the issues you are reading. Silly, unbelievable, annoying characters you want to bang heads together, but gripping nonetheless!
Kay is a devoted mother to her five year old daughter Poppy especially after losing her first baby. She is married to Matt who is a hard working paediatrician and works long hours. All is not perfect with their marriage but they have to put that to one side as Poppy is suffering from a life threatening kidney disease and they are aware that she may need a transplant. But Kay is harbouring a dark secret which she hopes will never be revealed. When Matt’s brother Jason returns, who happens to be Kay’s ex boyfriend, Matt has to face all his angry feelings due to their past. When Kay meets Poppy from school one day she can’t believe her eyes when Olivia, Poppy’s new best friend looks just like a twin of Poppy. Kay starts to think that Olivia must be Matt’s child from a secret relationship but she wonders if this is true that Olivia could be the one to save Poppy’s life. We see Kay and Matt’s marriage begin to fall apart as they are both hiding secrets from their pasts and suspect each other of having affairs, so the plot deepens and thickens. This is a tense and compelling read, full of family lies, deceit and secrets. An additive book, full of twists and turns and one I couldn’t put down.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This book is the best. From the start I was gripped and couldn't stop reading. It's a very simple book actually. It follows the lives of a happy family - Matt and Kay and their 5 year old daughter, Poppy. Poppy is ill with what seems to be kidney problems and the parents have to check whether they are eligible donors.
Suddenly, Matt finds out that he doesn't have the right blood type and he starts getting suspicious. Meanwhile, Kay meets a new student who she feels harnesses bad energy though she can't figure out why.Matt begins to think his wife is having an affair with his brother and she feels he is the one having an affair.
Then, a new character comes up. Olivis who looks exactly like Poppy. How is it even possible? Are they sisters? I enjoyed reading this suspense which seemed to ramp up in every chapter. The author did a whole lot of research on Poppy's sickness and i must say, that is commendable.
"She’ll do anything to protect her daughter…”
I love Matt and Kay. They're so loving and caring, especially how Matt adores helping others. I had my suspects from the start and I wasn't wrong. Though I didn't like how Matt jumped to conclusions about Kay. For goodness sake! She is the love of his life. Why can't he just sit down and talk to her? Because of that he almost lost her. Thank God things changed.

This is an exceptional drama with lots of secrets, and mystery to keep the reader entertained.

Much thanks to Netgalley, Sheryl Browne and the publisher for this ARC copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Liar’s Child. It was moving, addictive and really left me on edge! The story is told through the eyes of Kay and Matt. The loving parents of Poppy who has health problems. Questions occur when Poppy comes out of school one day holding Olivia’s hand. Olivia is Poppy’s doppelganger! Kay has questions for Matt, leading to insecurities in their marriage. Secrets and lies come flying out everywhere! It’s a really addictive read, drama by abundance, secrets, lies, families the whole lot! You will be eager to finish to find out the ending! Love it!
I loooooved this book as it started. LOVED it! I loved the slow burn of a mystery and trying to figure out who did what to who and what happened… and then 60% in, my interest was super peaked but there wasn’t much else happening and I felt like I was falling flat. It felt like my excitement had been hijacked and was being held for ransom. I wanted more! Also, the characters bothered me. The fight between that couple drove me up the wall. Sure, I am relatively certain when your child is so sick that your patience is limited… however, Matt is really a jerk to Kay and Kay gives up too easily. Also, she “flew up the stairs” at least three times. That’s too much of an expression in one book.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am a big fan of Sheryl Browne. Her books never disappoint and this one is no exception. Recommended.
The Liar’s Child by Sheryl Browne was a great book.
Matt and Kay have a happy marriage and a five year old daughter named Poppy. Lots of twists and turns with secrets and lies throughout it left me guessing what would happen next.
The Liar’s Child is a five-star read that explores the Young family and the extended family dynamics. Browne tests the familial bonds to see how strong they are, especially when the family is under threat.
