Great read and art. My hero academia never disappoints. It action is great and waiting for the next volume.
ARC From Netgalley.
Highlights:
- Deku and Bakugo step in to help Endeavor fight Shigaraki
- Mt Lady is giving everything she's got to try to hold Gigantomachia back from reaching his master... all while the rest of the League of Villains ride on his back.
- Midnight plans to put the giant to sleep, but is beaten down. She instructs Momo to create a sedative that should stop his rampage. The heroes fight back against the League and the giant, but it takes the arrival of Red Riot (Kirishima!) to get the pill into Gigantomachia's mouth.
- Aizawa is still managing to hold Shigaraki's Quirk back from him. Shigaraki thinks he will win as he shoots a Quirk-Destroying drug into Aizawa's leg. Quick thinking from the teacher, as he cuts off his own leg to save his Quirk. Shigaraki is able to attack Aizama, and the teacher finally closes his eyes, allowing the villain to super regenerate.
- Gigantomachia is able to shrug off the sedative and lays down a huge path of destruction.
- As Shigaraki is about to Decay everyone, Deku finally manifests Float, and when used in combination with Blackwhip, he is able to hold the townspeople out of danger.
- The fight between Deku and Shigaraki continues, and as Deku starts to lose stamina, Bakugo jumps in front of him, protecting him from a lethal blow. WIll he survive it?
Volume 29 of My Hero Academia lands the reader in what is the first actual field combat experience for most of the Class 1-B UA students in the story. We also get to see some pro heroes we met briefly in previous volumes in action. Some details may be lost to readers who are picking up this volume on a whim, but the action can be enjoyed in media res. For those who have been following the preceding 28 volumes, it's good to see little pieces of the story coming together as we approach what is supposedly the conclusion of My Hero Academia. (I received a free ARC from the publisher via NetGallet.)
