The Truth About Secrets
By: L.P. Dover

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Always meant to be!

In yet another amazing book from L.P. Dover we get a front row seat of lost lives. Clara and Zac were high school loves with huge plans for forever. Due to cruel circumstances they’re both left absolutely heartbroken. When both return to their hometown at the same time twelve years later pain, anger and sadness need unleashed. Can these two find it in there broken hearts to have a long overdue conversation or is it too late? The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shocking moments. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

Authors Blurb: Clara and Zac thought they were headed for their happily ever after, until a break-up slathered in betrayal left them both jaded and vindictive.
Twelve years have passed since they left Wyoming, and during that time Clara found her calling at a prestigious PR firm in California while Zac moved to New Orleans to join his Broussard cousins at River Enterprises. They thought they could forget each other and move on... until a local charity auction in their hometown of Snowy Creek sets Zac up for the ultimate revenge. If he wins, Clara will be at his mercy, forced to work for him for one full week. Tantalized by the sweet taste of revenge, he eagerly ups the ante to claim his prize.
But what starts out as a week of filthy manual labor and bitter rivalry leads to a shocking revelation. Someone has been plotting for over a decade to keep Clara and Zac apart. Can the pair band together to uncover who? Or will their rift from the past continue to ruin their chance at a blissful future?

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

The Truth About Secrets, Revenge has never tasted so sweet, L.P. Dover

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General Fiction, Romance, Women's fiction

Gah, bl!!dy Women's Fiction again...there is no place for that in 2021 IMO!

Well, this is a short novel, and I'm not a fan of those, but I didn't know before I started....I'm guessing its around 150-170 pages and for me that means the story gets rushed, too much crammed in. The humour was fun though, made me snigger, so that redeemed it a bit.
Its not a novel I could dislike, a good premise, exactly the kind of thing I want to read but...it was very cute and sweet rather than the depth and drama that I enjoy. I'd guessed one part very early though the other was a surprise! Characters were likable in the main, and felt real.
I did get somewhat puzzled over the chemo Clara's dad underwent. He was pretty sick and yet didn't seem to be in hospital but at home. The effects too, hit him very quickly, and when they talked about IV fluids at home I was shocked, that would be hospital here. Granted its 25 years since I had chemo but I was in hospital for it, and was tested constantly. Anti sickness meds given for when I was home, though it took a few days to hit. I think a bit more realism here would have helped, or maybe its just the US and UK treatments and aftercare are very different? If that's so, my apologies.

Stars: Three, a cute read but a bit light for me.

The Truth About Secrets is about Zach and Clara, who are high school sweethearts who have planned to live together and attend the same college.

While Clara is away with her best friend in Paris, she receives some devastating news. While trying desperately to speak to Zach about the situation, she is left with no response from him in any way. She is devastated once she realizes he has gone to college without her ending their relationship, so she decides to stay in Paris a little longer.

I really liked this book. Both characters were great and I was totally involved in their relationship from the beginning.

A second chance at love for these two, Zac and Clara were very serious as young adults and planned to move away for college together. While vacationing in Paris, Clara had the rug pulled out from under her when she receives a text message from a friend and then cannot get ahold of Zac, at all. Then the end, relationship over that meant everything up until then. I'm overly suspicious so immediately had thoughts, but also would have tried harder to reach Zac.

12 years later, Zac and Clara end up in their home town at the same time. It seems both of these two have different recollections of the past and both are hell bent on revenge.

Dover's writing it's interesting and entertaining, but at the same time makes you wonder what truly happened. Unfortunately, as suspected, there's more to break up that is heart shattering for Clara. Zac and Clara are just two characters that are meant to be together. I love the writing style, the discovery of the past, and their coming together in an inevitable love.

Clara is way more forgiving than I would have been, but with the situation with her father I suppose that puts her in a different perspective. Enjoy the book.

How sweet was this book??

I literally started this book today and just finished it, I genuinely couldn't put it down! Each chapter was super interesting, the story just flowed so easily and you wanted to keep going and going. I loved Clara and Zac's relationship and just the characters in general being pranksters while also being super stubborn.

There's two parts to this book, the fun and playful beginning where they hate each other and there's all this banter going on, which is fantastic, then there's the revelation part of the story where it gets sweeter and more heartfelt, and I think both parts are super well balanced in this story!

I highly recommend it!

3.5 stars - I enjoyed this read but found the heroine’s forgiveness of her mother and friend hard to swallow. Obviously, she’s more mature or Christ-like than me. Because if I’d been lied to for 12 years by people I emphatically trusted, it would likely take years, not weeks, for me to forgive them. Otherwise, this is a very good read.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5⭐

The Truth About Secrets is a fast-paced, funny and at times emotional story. That reunites childhood sweethearts Clara and Zac after 12 years and lots of heartache, due to miscommunication, childhood insecurities and a bit of meddling. But when Clara returns to her hometown and is faced with her one true love and the truth about what really happened when she was on holiday in France everything changes.

And it was an enjoyable, sweet and chemistry filled romance. That was packed with likable and memorable characters. And I honestly couldn't put it down.

Would happily recommend.

I kept reading this one… enjoying it… but I knew I had read it before. Couldn’t figure it out.
Well now I have… this book was previously released as ‘Early Revenge’. My second read through was just as good as my first time.

These two were meant to be from the beginning... too bad life got in the way and tore them apart.
This story is about young love. A great love... until it wasn’t. 12 years pass and they are back in the town they grew up in at the same time. Fate?!?! Can something come of that? are they getting there second chance at love? What happened 12 years ago?
You’ll need to read this one to find out.

Zac and Clara were amazing characters. I enjoyed reading there story. Ms. Dover does an excellent job of bringing this world alive and making you believe you are there.

I highly recommend this one!
