Rockton is a manufactured town in the Yukon, hidden from any who might come looking for it. The residents are people who are hiding from the consequences of actions taken in their real lives or trying to reset the lives they no longer can tolerate. They pay a premium to stay in Rockton for an extended period but must work to earn the privilege of staying. There are a few permanent residents. Eric, Casey, April, Will and a few more that enforce the rules. This is the backstory. This is book #7 of the series. Each is an excellent stand alone but the reading expeience of Kelley Armstrong's books is something I would not want anyone to miss. Her books cover all genre so you'll find something to love, no matter the series you pick.

The Rockton residents who pay to spend time there, pay dearly. The council, a faceless entity, is supposed to vet those who want to hide there, but it seems those with violent pasts are now Rockton residents.
Detective Casey and Sheriff Dalton run a tight ship in regard to how they oversee Rockton. Not everyone knows that the town is going to be shut down, but Casey and Dalton hope to start their own version, one with much better oversight.
Rockton residents closely guard their secrets of why they are in Rockton. Dalton knows, but he recently suspects that what the council has told him about residents...isn't true. Someone hangs a sign in the town announcing the reason deputy Will Anders came to Rockton. Casey and Dalton investigate as revealing the details of a person's former life is a violation of Rockton's rules. They uncover several cases of blackmail which lead to murders. The council doesn't want this to interfere with shutting down the town, so they threaten Casey if she investigates. How can she let the murder go unsolved? Now that the council has ordered them to shut down the town and start shipping out residents, Casey is on the clock as she hurries to find answers.
Another highly entertaining entry in the Rockton series, The Deepest of Secrets doesn't disappoint.
Thanks to St. Martin's Press, Kelley Armstrong and NetGalley for this ARC.

I have really enjoyed this author in the past. I have not read any books from this series but thought I would give this book a try. I really enjoyed it! This book seems to be the end of this series so I guess I started at the end. Detective Casey Duncan is a great character and I enjoyed the story. *This book was given to me for free at my request from NetGalley and I provided this voluntary review.*

Rockton is closing. The word has not yet become official, but the handwriting is on the wall. Everyone is jumpy and the inhabitants are divided into those who support Casey and Eric and those who have their own agenda.
This is an exciting bridging book to the new series. A wonderful read.

Strong ending to the series, stoked for the spin-off. I love the characters and the world. Armstrong's mysteries are sometimes overly complicated but always engaging.

I always enjoy my trips to Rockton. Kelley Armstrong never lets me down when I get there. It always feels like I’m back amongst friends and helping them untangle new problems.

This time a secret is exposed and it could have deadly consequences for the exposer and/or the exposed. As Casey is trying to solve this problem another one pops up and she realizes time is not on her side.

How can these people she has grown to trust be the ones causing the problems?

I can’t wait to see where we go now!

I think this is my fave of the whole series. The writing was tight and the plot was fast-paced but didn't feel rushed. It did feel like it could be the last book in the series but I sure hope not!

The town of Stockton is deep within the Yukon in Alaska, it's built for people who need to start over or hide from their previous life. They have to sign a contract saying they will live there for a minimum of two years. There is no electricity or modern conveniences in the town. Detective Casey Butler and her boyfriend Sheriff Eric Dalton know that the council which runs the town is set on closing it down. People's secrets start being revealed which causes a lot of chaos within the town. I liked that the book has very solid characters and that the ending was unexpected. Overall it was a great read and now I want to read the other books in the series too. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy.

In what I assume to be the final installment of the Rockton series, The Deepest of Secrets, readers are dropped right back in where they left off--only with a new twist. Yes, the town is still in danger of being closed by the council and the residents are just as ... unusual ... as ever. Now, though everyone is turning on one another. A handful of troublemakers have realized that not everyone who has been brought to Rockton under the guise of getting away to safety is someone who rightfully deserves it. Casey, the town's detective, and her husband, Dalton, the sheriff, realized this long ago, but have kept it under wraps. Now, with everyone fearing that their deepest secrets will be brought to light--or lead the to be blackmailed--all sense of community has dissolved. Then the bodies start appearing ...

Though I have loved this series, I didn't love this finale. It seemed a little jumbled and forced. However, it is a must-read for Armstrong fans and it does tie up all of the loose ends, if a bit weirdly and abruptly.

Unfortunately, I have lost interest in reading this series and so I can’t say much about this final installment. I just struggled to connect to the characters after 7 books. May revisit in the future,

Absolutely phenomenal. My ultimate favorite series from mrs. Armstrong. If I had to go off the grid i would definitely choose rockton even with all the drama.

*Will be posted on September 7th

I'm not even sure why I'm surprised that each book is just as good as the last haha. I always wonder how Kelley Armstrong is going to bring something new to the table and I'm never disappointed by her awesome twists. The Deepest of Secrets is no different!

This time around, Casey and Eric have to deal with danger from within their community. Someone is going around revealing residents' secrets. panic quickly sets in and people turn on one another. It becomes a race against the clock to find the person responsible before someone gets hurt. At the same time, Casey and Eric are still holding out some hope that they can keep Rockton from shutting down.

I think it was an interesting twist having the residents' backgrounds finally come out! It was a nice break from jumping straight into murder. Not only that, but it brought a new set of challenges for Casey when the community stopped trusting its law enforcement.

The story had a good place. Things really picked up after Will's house was broken into. I think it made it clear that these people could be dangerous and upped the stakes. I also liked that the book checked in with a lot of side characters and that we were able to see how much they'd grown throughout the series (Diana, Jen, and April especially).

The ending of the book was so intense! It was more action-packed than I thought and I found myself on the edge of my seat. It was honesty shocked by the way things ended with the council even though part of me saw it coming. It was what I was secretly hoping for (I just didn't think we'd get to see it). I'm dying to see what happens in the next book!

I'm a little obsessed with the Rockton books, and I don't want to share any spoilers, but I need a new one. I need to know what's next! As always, Casey and Eric face mind-boggling hardships against an already bleak backdrop, but Kelley Armstrong has this amazing talent to take some of the most innocuous elements and intertwine them in a rich tapestry to tell the most intense edge-of-your seat stories. She does it once again in The Deepest Secrets, and I hope I get to find out what's next.

Kelley Armstrong remains a master at building tension, and mystery in an environment unlike any other I can imagine, or have ever seen in my life. It seems like it should be the perfect place, set in the wilds of the Yukon, but there are things more dangerous than the wilderness in the small town.

Over the course of these books I've become so attached to the characters, even those who are less than savoury and perhaps that's why I approached this book with a sort of reluctance, not wanting to let go of Rockton.

Casey is still as amazing as ever, determined to make things right, even when everything is going horribly wrong, with Eric, steadfast and sometimes stoic at her side. The two of them complement each other wonderfully, even in the seventh book of the series they never feel stagnant.

The surprise for me in this, the latest book in this series is how much I've come to enjoy Phil, who has really grown as a character throughout his appearances, and the last chapters even had me cheering him on.

While this was a farewell to Rockton, I can't wait to see what happens next and hope for an interesting next chapter for these characters.

Also, as if I didn't have major fears being buried alive before...

The Rockton series is one of my favorites! I love the setting, the characters and just the premise itself....a town hidden in the Canadian wilderness where people in trouble go to disappear for awhile. It makes for great suspense novels!

The Deepest of Secrets by Kelley Armstrong is the 7th book in the Rockton series. The town of Rockton's secrets are being revealed. The town is unravelling with everybody afraid their crime will be revealed and the council shutting the town down.

This was the weakest of the books in my opinion. It had no pull to make me want to read it. I still enjoyed this world and will still pick up the next book but this one was lacking that spark. I found the killer to be obvious. The tension that’s normally with the council was just lacking and I was wanting more planning for their contingency plan.

3.25 stars for being fine but just lackluster. I will round down because I finished it and it did not make me hate the series or lose complete interest. Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Kelley Armstrong for the free copy. This was an honest review.

In the secret community of Rockton, residents with secret pasts are tucked away in the Yukon wilderness. When those secrets get out, residents turn against one another and Sherriff Eric Dalton and his girlfriend Casey try to keep the peace---until one of the residents is murdered.

The books in this series are like potato chips---airy and light and I can't stop reading them. Armstrong is great at ratcheting up the tension while somehow keeping track of a not-small cast of characters, many of whom are somewhat untrustworthy and all of whom have complicated histories. Like the other titles in the Rockton series, this one is a fast read full of suspense and action.

This 7th in in Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series is set in an isolated Yukon community established in the 1950s as a for-profit refuge for people running from their pasts.

The series lead is Homicide Detective Casey Duncan, whose lover is Rockton Sheriff Eric Dalton. As this episode opens, someone has begun revealing what led community members to their town. There are threats and escalating attacks.

As we expect, Casey does figure it all out, but then the Council lowers the boom with plans to dismantle Rockton. What next for Casey, Eric, et al?

This is the newest installment in the Rockton series following Detective Casey Duncan. If you haven’t read them already, go back and start with the first (City of the Lost). In this book, someone spills the tea about a prominent member of the community, to cause distrust, fear and outrage. While dealing with that, there is a murder to investigate. Which is very unfortunate, not only because of their limited resources, but also because now they are walking on eggshells around the people who are a hairs breath away from outright rebellion because they no longer trust the people in charge of their safety. There is murder, betrayal, and fun glimpse into Kelley Armstrong’s humor (which wasn’t very seen in the previous novels of this series).

I really enjoyed this one, I hope there are more books to come! Every time you think it’s over, it’s not. A great addition to the Rockton series.
