After a successful novel, Finlay must come up with another worthy plot! What will she come up with?
Well someone wants her ex husband out of the picture permanently and posted a want ad for the service. Finlay must compete with another interested party while trying to keep her family safe!
It was great seeing what would happen in book 2. Characters from book 1, Nick and Vero are back and make the book that much better!
Will Finlay save her ex husband and figure out who wants him gone?

This was the second book in the series, and I feel like it really was on the same level as the first one, which I find rare!
I will definitely be continuing this series, but more because I feel too far in to stop now than because I am actually enjoying them.
I found the plot of this one… frustrating. There’s only so many times someone can luck out of a situation before you start to get irritated, and I think this was cutting it close to that limit.
Overall, a decent read and enough to keep me going with the series, but not my favorite.
For you if you like: a mystery that’s revealed throughout the book, a large cast of characters, a main character who has no idea what she’s doing (me core), and messy situations.
Not for you if you don’t like: plot that requires a lot of luck to make it happen, cops who turn a blind eye to friends breaking the law, characters making dumb mistakes that really should have more consequences than they do.

Thank You NetGalley for an advance copy. This is the second book in a strong series about single mom Finlay Donovan, who fumbles her way through mishaps and crime scenes, while always remaining relatable and funny. She is definitely related to Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum. The series is stronger because of Finlay’s close relationship with her nanny and best friend, Vero. The second book was a strong sequel and well worth reading. I recommend this book if you are looking for something entertaining and light.

This is the second installment of the Finlay Donovan series and picks up where the first book left off. For those who don’t know the series Finlay is a newish single mom of two young kids and at some point a woman mistakes her for a hired killer rather than the mystery writer she is. Her sidekick is her nanny who has secrets of her own and the two of them solve crimes and run from the Russian mafia.
I find these books cute and fun and a nice palate cleanser, this was probably my least favorite of the four that I read and the most forgettable. I think this one went a little off the rails (more so than the others) and just became silly at points. You have to read it to understand the next however and if you want a fluffy book that has mysteries then this series may be for you.
Thank you to Minotaur Books and NetGalley for the ARC to read

Another 5 star read! I just cannot put these Finlay Donovan books down. It was just so humorous and unpredictable! I absolutely love how wrong Finlay is the whole time just to ultimately figure it out!

The adventure continues and Finlay and Vero keep getting in over their heads. I love the chemistry/friendship between these two. They are a real team! The mystery & conflict keeps you turning the pages and the rest of the secondary characters are fun to follow.

Another great Finlay Donovan story! Love reading about all the crazy situations her and Vero get into.. definitely a fan of this series!

3.5 Stars
Finlay is back as an accidental hit-woman in the sequel to Finlay Donovan is killing it. In this installment, Finlay is trying to figure out who has put a hit on her ex-husband while also trying to save him.
The humour, suspense and twists in the novel kept me engaged and wanting more. I really enjoy Elle Cosimano’s writing style. Even though the events and plot can be a little too convenient at times, if you can look past that and enjoy the story for what it is, it is such a fun read.
I like that we are left with some mysteries at the end of the novel. What is Vero hiding? And what will happen with Detective Nick and Finlay?
I would definitely recommend this to a friend. It’s a wild, humorous, cozy mystery that will leave you wanting more!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to review this book.

I enjoyed this one more than the first. There’s not a lot of backstory to establish since most of these characters have already been introduced. Finn and Vero’s mystery solving makes more sense than accidentally killing two people and collecting huge bounties.
I’m hoping there’s more Detective Nicholas Anthony because he’s one of my favorite parts of this series. The boy is smooth as hell.
Definitely recommend for a quick cozy humorous mystery romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Couldn't wait for the next Finlay Donogan book after being introduced to her life in "Finlay Donovan is killing it." Loved seeing how her and Vero got into even more crazy scenarios and see the romance heat up!

4.5 stars. Though not as powerful as the first in the series (mostly because the shock appeal does wear off after you've learned a bit of what to expect), the sequel in the Finlay Donovan series still packs a punch. The banter is just as witty and Finlay is still just a bit off her rocker. There is a need to have some suspension of disbelief in these tales and just ride the wave. The story is super fun and fast-paced and somehow the grit of the situation still comes off as just goofy and funny. Hired assassins? Dangerous mob? Death threats? Somehow not daunting, just entertaining. It's a feeling I'm not sure I've quite experienced outside of this series and it's really making me like mysteries again. This series continues to be a good time and the ending wraps up well enough to feel solid while still leaving a nice bit of cliffhanger. At this point, I'm not sure I'll get tired of reading any of these books.

This story keeps getting better and more complex but in a hilarious and great way. I love the innerweb of characters, more solving of the mystery but yet not at the same time. Was almost expecting the story itself to have a second plot, but the fact that it continues on from where book 1 leaves off was perfect. Sometimes the second book in the series doesn't live up to or seems to be too much of a filler book, Knocks 'em Dead was not that type of book. Looking forward to the continuation of this series.

I really enjoyed the first book in the Finlay Donovan series, however what made the first book work really well was that it all just snowballed from a very simple mistake. This time around things are done with intention and unfortunately it loses some of its charm, mainly because Finlay makes some really idiotic decisions when she has two young children relying on her.
I get that she wants to protect their father, but putting herself at risk the way she did just seemed wildly irresponsible. Showing Stephen the evidence and talking to him would have been much easier, but alas, Cosimano wouldn’t have had a book if that occurred.
There's a few spots where things should have been edited some more, (mainly the arson at the farm being listed in the list of transgressions that FedUp made, considering that was already attributed to someone else.) I also found the recap at the beginning to be a little repetitious.
All in all it’s a fun story, and I’m still going to read book 3 to see where Cosimano takes this.

Ok, book 2 in the Finlay Donovan series..Her crazy life continues ! A mother, daughter, best friend ,an ex, and a “very scary” detective. In trouble again and how to get out of it this time !.? I’m enjoying the antics of Finlay Donovan so.much. She’s a brave young women , not to mention a very explicit storytelling author. Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martins Press and Elle Cosimano for this set of ARCs. I am now addicted to this series !
Good going !

Finlay Donovan is back- this time with ties to the Russian mafia! Oh, and did I mention there's a hot cop? Great for Finlay, except not so much when she needs to bend the law a bit to protect her ex husband. I enjoyed this story and the addition of the new characters. Super fun read!

Hysterically funny and one I could not put down. Finlay & Vero are quite interesting characters and the Finaly Donovan series has quickly reached a must-read status for me to see what will happen next! Excited for the next in the series.

I mean, whyyyyyyyy am I so late to the FInlay Donovan game????? How did I miss this when it first came out?
This review is going to be for the entire series which I now love, and I'm pretty much kicking myself for not getting on the bandwagon sooner.
If you are looking for a FMC to get behind, to rally under, to cheer for... Finlay Donovan is your girl. I loved meeting her for the first time and going along her adventures. My favorite among the series is still the first book, but after going through a lot of "let-down sequels", I'm happily devoured these books. Perfect for someone who's kinda new to the genre. Love, love, love!

Well Finlay is back and I really want to know how she gets the job done being so out in left field most of the time. Not sure how to rate the book but I did like it. To me you don't have to be really smart to get a job done. Giving book 3.5 stars.

With her friend (and nanny) Vero by her side, Finlay dives right back into the chaos where book one left off. This time, she’s faced with an unexpected conundrum: a request to eliminate her nemesis—her ex. As tempting as the idea might be, Finlay knows it’s impossible. With her kids to consider, there’s no way she can go through with it, no matter how satisfying it sounds. Filled with new characters, sharp wit, and plenty of laughs, Finlay continues to stumble her way through this accidental chapter of her life—and you’ll love every twist and turn of the ride.

Finlay and Vero are a great team once again in the second book in this series. This book was highly entertaining. After learning that someone wants to kill her ex-husband Steven, Finlay offers herself up as a contract killer to find out who wants him dead. But another party already took the bait and makes multiple attempts on Steven's life. Elle's writing is witty with just the right amount of suspense - and the chemistry between Finlay and the hot cop Nick is perfection. Already starting book three - excited to continue the series. Thank you to St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for the chance to read this novel.
