It was a decent graphic novel. The story itself felt very familiar in terms of classic fantasy tropes, but it felt underdeveloped to me. The characters, including the main character, appeared two-dimensional at times, and the plot was extremely predictable. It has piqued my interest to continue reading and see if the second book contains more nuance and development.

The protected PDF loads but only the speech bubbles are visible.

So disappointing! From the dialogue, this looks like a great story and I wish I could appreciate it fully.

An interesting new retelling of the King Arthur myth with a little bit of Robin Hood thrown in for fun. The art style wasn't my personal favorite, but I think it made a lot of sense for the kind of story it was depicting. It was done well and the color choices really helped with the tone of each page. The illustrations are done well and easy to follow with a lot of great detail included.

I was hoping for a bit more from this story, but I think, due to it being the first in the series or short graphic novels, the author spent a lot of time trying to get the story started. Readers get a glimpse of past and present for set-up but there is a LOT of world-building and character-building to do. The characters are fun, but none of them have discernible personalities yet. I really hope we continue with the flashbacks as the story continues to uncover more of the story moving forward and get a lot more back story for each character.

I loved the extra content at the end. I really enjoy seeing the artistic process and when artist's show the different choices that could have been made as the story was being out together!

All in all a great start to what I think is going to be an interesting new King Arthur story!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy!

The illustrations are easy to follow, but still detailed and I like how the colour palette changes with the atmosphere. This graphic novel is told in dual timelines and it was a bit hard to get into. Either of those timelines left me wanting to know more. There aren't enough pages to explore the main character's training and growth in the past and certainly not enough room for world builiding. The protagonist is also not a very engaging character.
Overall this is more of a fun and short adventure story, as the overarching story will continue in the next installment. The characters are not well developed and I wanted to learn more about to world, because what I saw of it peaked my interest. I appreciate the extra content, such as character designs and alternative covers, in the back of the novel.

This graphic novel was very cute. I felt like it really opened up to explore more about the world and everything. The art work was fantastic.
There were times that I felt the story drag, but that was just me. I know this graphic novel would appeal to a lot of people.

In this Arthurian-style tale, a young prince is separated from his parents only to return without a home. This is a fabulous start to what I hope is more than a duology. The story is gripping and full of action as the main character, Kaidan, fights off mythical creatures and enemies. If the story wasn't reason enough to love this book, the illustrations are absolutely stunning and full of color. My favorite picture might actually be the last page of the novel because it has such a beautiful sunrise. Unlike most mythical stories of this caliber, there is a badass group of warrior women that remind me of the Amazons. I'm interested to see what happens in the next installment as Kaidan fights off more enemies to reclaim his throne and saves his mother from the clutches of his enemies. Lovers of the show Merlin and Arthurian legend definitely need to add this to their collection.
