Sir Ridge de Reyne is a champion on the tournament circuit. It's the way he has earned his living since leaving the service of two different kings. A huge tournament in Durham should earn him plenty. So the Black Storm and his tempests descend on Durham.

Lady Catherine de Tuberville is at her first ever tournament and is very excited. Her three brothers will all be competing. The only dark cloud for her is her mother, a woman who has no time for a defective daughter. She only came to see her daughter married off as quickly as possible, hopefully to someone who will benefit herself in some way.

A fascinating trip to the excitement behind the scenes at a tourney.

This is a high-speed historical romance, with a little danger and a nasty villian. Lots of great characters many of whom you will have met in other books.

It's a completely stand alone story that will keep you entertained from the first to last page.

Great fun.

I am a diehard Kathryn Le Veque reader, however this book didn’t make the same impression or impact that her books normally have done for me.
I didn’t see the love and romance building between Ridge and Catherine. Ridge felt love at first sight, but Catherine just saw a nice Knight who her dogs didn’t bite.
There was no super WOW moment to me. There were no good matches of jousting between the brothers or Northwood Knights which of course are the spectacular, William de Wolfe, Paris de Norville, Michael Hage, and Michael de Bocage against Ridge for entertainment reading to spice up the action.
The key moment was Charles when he finally had enough and blew up and gave his mother the set down she deserved!
Overall the book is still a good read it just doesn’t deliver the same explosion!

I received a free advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.
