This was fun but I don't know if I'd pick up more volumes at any point.
As the title suggests, the MC is reincarnated as a prince and uses that time to master sorcery. As a 10 year old Prince, he gets into some pretty bad situations where his powers help him.
This was a decent manga! The art was cute. It was your typical sort of reincarnation story, where the character remembers his former life and therefore can level up their power quickly and get into all sorts of highjinks and adventures. I liked the story and I wouldn't mind reading more of the series to see where it goes and how Lloyd is able to continue to grow.
The only thing I disliked about the story ( and it was a rather big dislike...) was all of the unnecessary fan service when it came to the female characters. The prince is 10 in this story, and very obviously not interested in girls or women yet, so the hypersexuality and fan service felt weird and a bit icky to me.
Cute, funny, but pretty standard for reincarnation manga. I think one unfortunate thing about this trope is the fanservice and ick factor of an adult man in a child's body.
Very good start to an isekai. Most of the time it's a teen or adult that's overpowered but we see that it's now a child. A breath of fresh air with that change. Can't wait to see what shenanigans this story gets into.
I liked this manga. I had my eyes set on it for quite a while because I thought the title and the cover where interesting.
Overall, the manga was quite funny. Indeed, Prince Lloyd is very cute and does not always realise that what he does is impressive for the people around him, which create funny reactions. He is already very powerful so I wonder what will happen next. The only thing that annoyed me was the fan service in one of the scenes (why, just why). The story is nothing out of the ordinary for the moment but I think it works. At least, thatโs what I like.
I recommend this manga for a bit of laughing and entertainment.
4/5
I never usually read manga with titles as long as "I was reincarnated as the 7th prince so I can take my time perfecting my magical ability" Volume 1 by Kenkyo na Circle, Meru, and Yosuke Kokuzawa, as I generally think I won't enjoy it, it's just isekai, it is not for me! This totally surprised me!
Not only is the artwork cute and enjoyable to look at, the story and characters fun and humourous and engaging, but the story is interesting and investing, too! It actually had everything I think is fun in a story! I loved it!
This manga is based on a light novel series and this is the manga adaptation. This is maybe why the story has a bit more depth and interest for something that at first appearance seems to be a chuunibyou wet dream! The story follows a peasant who has been reincarnated as royalty, in a land where royalty and aristocracy have magical capabilities, but he retains his consiousness from his former life, including all the magical studies he undertook. He has a voracious appetite for learning about magic and now an innate ability. So he is happy, happpy, happy! The story follows his adventures to learn more and the people he interacts with
The comedy in this was very good - it's like One Punch Man but medieval fantasy land for kids He is like the final boss but I am interested to keep reading.
I read this in a couple of parts. On the positive I like the premise and think this has some interesting potential. I also like the art and how the book sets up coming volumes.
On the negative, the fan service is distracting. Itโs not exactly something I look for in stories, but I have seen it work well and compliment characters and a story. In I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability (did the title have to be so long?) it is so frequent, so in your face that it pulls you from the story.
I do want to see how the story is continued in the next volume before I decide if I want to give up or continue with the series.
"I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability" By: Jenny I na Circle and Yosuke Kokuzawa is your average reincarnation manga about a guy who remembers his past life and because of that he's extremely overpower. Overall this was fine its just very basic, the fan service was weird but is expected in this kind of story and the plot and characters seemed about as special. I probably won't continue in the series but I'm assuming it will improve.
Things I enjoyed:
-the art style
Things I didn't enjoy:
-the fan service (it was just weird considering the mc is supposed to be a "little boy" even though he isn't one mentally)
-the plot (it wasn't bad just not very unique or interesting)
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability, Volume 1, by Kenkyo na Circle, Yosuke Kokuzawa is a manga style graphic novel. Prince Lloyd wasn't always a prince...in fact, his previous life is one he remembers perfectly: he was a sorcerer, of sorts. So when he was forced to reincarnate, he decided to continue his studies, prince of the realm or no! But his new life has its own sets of challenges...including being a 10-year-old! What's the 7th prince/sorcerer to do?!
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability is an interesting read. I liked the premise and the track the story is taking. I liked the juxtaposition of Llyod's age and innocent appearance with his power, and the way other people respond to him. I liked his hunt for knowledge, eagerness to experiment, and disregard for things that do not interest him. I think all of that makes him an interesting character and his story engaging and interesting to read. I am more that a little annoyed with the unnecessary and irrelevant scenes that felt like they were only included to get boobs on the page. It just felt very odd and out of place to have those moments in the story- never mind the outfit that a female adventurer is drawn in. It was disappointing that something I enjoyed otherwise fell flat because they just had to have a few moments of ogling the female form in a way that was not relevant to the plot at all.
So I finished this another Isekai manga volume and I think it's okay?
Although, this manga volume volume was fun and was a quick read for me, tbh, I see nothing special about this one.
It was fun, enjoyed the magic system so far and the characters but nothing stands to me. The story was pretty okay and enjoyable and I think it's also pretty solid start for the series.
I have nothing else to say tbh.

I largely requested this book because I was tickled by the incredibly long title. I love these full sentence series names. They tell you everything you need to know about the plot. The illustrations are plenty detailed and quite expressive.
A fairly average magical adventure manga with a ton of fanservice. Honestly, there's nothing wrong with it, it just isn't particularly captivating.
I just couldn't finish this book. While the art is passable, sometimes adorable, this a strange mix of cute and adult rated content that does not sit well. The story was fine, nothing special, then you get to a scene with a child and a lot of naked women and that was it for me. I do not want to see a child sandwiched between adult women's breasts in a way that is not meant to be a gag but is instead eroticized. No thanks.
Thank you Kodansha and NetGalley for allowing me to review this book.
Lloyd is the 7th prince of a kingdom where he had lived as an ordinary citizen that had been executed. He is obsessed with sorcery. So it's isekai without being isekai. Same country reincarnation with no crossover to another world.
I loved that it was so over the top magic and character wise. It was goofy and silly in the best of ways. I loved how Lloyd is so OP and gutsy. Grim is a goofball.
I think the only minor complaint I had about it was the bath scene.
I enjoyed this manga and recommend it for anyone who wants a non-serious fantasy read.
Thanks again Kodansha and NetGalley.
Review to come September 10th on blog/goodreads.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
This was one of the new manga from Kodansha that I just HAD to try out. I mean the title is already one thing (it is glorious), but the blurb and the cover also looked very nice and so here we are! Finally had the chance to read this one last night and I enjoyed it really a lot.
Meet Lloyd (which in my mind I kept pronouncing as Laloyd as Garmadon in Lego Ninjago does), a boy who is the seventh son and a prince. Well, he wasn't always a prince as we can see in the pages before he is born.. he was originally a worthless sorcerer and got executed. But with reincarnation comes some nice perks, and I am sure that being the seventh son also helps. Lloyd is superpowerful. Like crazy overpowered (something another character finds out). A little fireball may seem harmless, but in Lloyd's hands it is a weapon and will destroy things around him. XD And there are other instances in which Lloyd does things that are just not normal (100s of spells for instance in one go). I am still not entirely sure how I feel about Lloyd. For most I really like the little guy and I love how hard he is studying, and hello, how can I not like a character that sneaks into libraries when he wants to read but actually has to do combat training. XD But sometimes, I am not sure, I wonder if the little guy will stay good or if he will turn to the dark side when he gets older. It also doesn't help that he can put up some really menacing faces when he is doing magic or thinking of something. So yeah, I kind of hope he will stay good as that would be the most fun for me.
I love seeing Lloyd go through the daily things of a 10 year old prince. From having to bath with the maids (which is hilarious on its own but now imagine it being an adult man in the body of a child, he is trying very hard not to look at all the things around him XD) to combat training with his mentor (who is one of the best characters in the book) to being around with one of his brothers (no clue where the rest of them are). In the mean time, all Lloyd wants to do is study, practice magic, and the likes.
Somewhere mid-way we get a new character, someone who has immediately regrets ever meeting Lloyd. Namely a demon. Who thinks that Lloyd is an easy target because he is a kid. Oh boy, I just felt so sorry for that poor demon. And also later in the manga as the two get closer and Lloyd gets more inventive with ways to keep the demon, I was just thinking that someone should free that demon and bind it back to the book it came from. I did like the demon though. How he tried being evil but found out it was better to be normal. I did think it was a shame that he lost his cute form so soon, I wouldn't have minded seeing more of that.
Then later on our prince goes on an adventure and we meet an even better character and one that I hope will pop up more often in the next volumes. Tao. A girl who is martial arts specialist and truly can kick some big fat ogre and other ass. I had a laugh though at how one-track-mind this girl was, she saw a hot guy (Lloyd in his disguise) and instantly went to try and make him her BF. You go girl! Good luck. XD
The art. Well, I would have loved it was just a bit more consistent. At times we get AMAZING WOW art (the Lich and some scenes with Lloyd), but at other times it gets very ugly with weird looking chibis. It is just a shame as it did affect my reading pleasure.
But all in all, I laughed, I cheered, and I was curled up nicely in my bed enjoying this manga! I definitely want more of this!
I wasnโt sure how much I would like this with the little kid on the cover. Iโm really glad I went for it anyway. It was really good!
The art is great, itโs funny, there are cute demons, a little bit of perviness. I am definitely going to continue the series.
I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince... is a cute and fun story and great for any isekai or magical world manga lover. A wonderfully silly classic style magical story, this manga will warm your heart and make you wish you could cast some magic of your own.
So, bear with me. I know I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability, Vol. 1 is an incredibly long title, but it still managed to catch my attention! You've got to admit, that title is very descriptive!
In fact, the title very neatly sums up the core plot of this series. Prince Lloyd was lucky enough to be reincarnated with all his memories โ which means he was born instantly knowing that he had a deep love for magic.
Now, ten years later, he's still obsessed with learning everything he can about magic, spellcasting, and any other detail that could possibly ever come to mind. The series itself is both written and illustrated by Yosuke Kokuzawa, and as it was the cover that originally caught my attention, I knew right away that I would enjoy the art style.
This plot thread will certainly sound familiar to manga and anime fans. So, while the premise itself is pretty common and easy to predict, I did find myself really enjoying the insanity of it all. Prince Lloyd's character is super OP (which will probably become a problem, as he is only ten and is pushing the boundaries of magic), but that actually adds to the insanity of it all.
There are lots of funny details and moments strewn about, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability (I need to find a shorter term for that!) had me laughing out loud pretty frequently.
So, to Prince Lloyd and Yosuke Kokuzawa, I thank you for all the laughter and entertainment. It was worth reading, and I think I'll even pick up the second novel when it becomes available.
There are lots of isekai light novels / stories out there and this one is no different.
Your guy is isekai-ed and starts off as a baby (which i like and prefer). He's also good in magic and has this usual take on ladies who wants them to appear sexualized at times (and i'm not a big fan of that as a girl myself).
I'll probably not continue reading this yet as of now and will just wait if this will be better in the future as I've seen lots of this already.
Still gave this 2 stars as the art is magnificent and there's still a chance for the story to be great in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and Kodansha for an an e-ARC.
Firstly, I would like to thank Netgalley and Kodansha Comics for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a typical reincarnation story where a man died in the hand of a great sorcerer and he was reincarnated as the 7th Prince of a kingdom with his memories still intact from the past life. The prince was very interested or more correctly obsessed with sorcery and spends his time to perfect his magic ability. Rather than normal activities as a child, he was more interested to become the great sorcerer in the world.
Not much to say that this wasn't my favourite kind of story. I like the idea of reincarnation, the curses and his ability but the fan service seems a bit too much for me. If the author focused more on the characters, it will be so much better. But I have to admit, the sorcery and the demon curses were fascinating to read. Plus there is an element of qi the author try to incorporate here and that can develop into something more. The artsyle was very good in my opinion, they were amazing to look at. The main character's interaction with the demon he conjure are actually quite entertaining.
Its an interesting read for me so far but will have to check volume 2 to see how it fares for me.
