Organic farmer Shiloh Bellamy has another murder to solve in Amanda Flower's latest Farm to Table Mysteries series book, Put Out to Pasture. This time Shiloh's friend Kristy who is the manager of the local farmer's market is the prime suspect in the murder. Shiloh knows Kristy is innocent and sets out to prove it. Turns out the murder victim, Minnie Devani has a secret that has come back to haunt her. I really enjoyed this book. I love the characters and following along with Shiloh's investigation.
Farm Fatality…
The second in the Farm To Table mystery series and Shiloh is struggling to keep her organic farm above water when a body turns up under a scarecrow on a close by field. With her best friend as suspect number one, Shiloh has to put aside important tasks and concentrate on finding a killer. Entertaining cozy mystery with a well drawn cast and moving nicely on from the first in the series as we discover more about the local characters and setting.
I received a copy of Put out to Pasture through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Put Out to Pasture by Amanda Flower is the second mystery in the Farm to Table Mystery series. In this cozy mystery, Shiloh Bellamy, a organic farmer who is making her home again in Cherry Glen, finds herself involved in another murder investigation when a body turns up on her farm. When her friend is caught in the cross fire of the investigation, Shiloh takes it upon herself to find the killer.
I really enjoyed this mystery and found I couldn’t put it down. I loved getting to catch up with the characters in this series and and ending was one I didn’t see coming. I am a huge fan of Amanda Flower and this young series has me hooked. I can’t wait to see what comes next for Shiloh and Bellamy Farms.
Another installment in the Farm to Table series. We are really getting to know Shi, her town and the people in it (and animals too!) When the Fall Daze festival starts at Bellamy farm they don’t even have enough food to sell. But things quickly take a dark turn when a body shows up. We found out it is Minnie (introduced in the first book of the series) and that she may have been an atm robber in the 90s.
I enjoyed this book more than the first, because we get to see a lot more of the town, it’s people and what goes on, I was surprised that the character who died was someone mentioned before, not just a random person. This makes it a lot more interesting ( but also, not super sad or anything because she wasn’t a major character, and was definitely not likable!) The farm setting is interesting to me because it is nothing like where I live. I a, excited to read more and learn more about the people of Cherry Glen.
This is the second book of the Farm to Table Mysteries series although this is the first time I am reading this series.
Shiloh Belamy is starting up her organic business farm when at a nearby field, a body of a woman is discovered. And the main suspect was her childhood friend Kristy who was last seen arguing with the woman. Shiloh sets to investigate the case--what with the killer on loose. She then finds a disturbing news about the dead woman's past and is concerned that someone from the woman's past had killed her and is living in the small town.
Despite the fact that I haven't read the first book, I actually enjoyed this cozy thriller! Besides reading about the "murder", I enjoyed reading about the life in the farm, making me feel like I was in the farm, the delicious meals prepared by Shiloh and of course the community in the small knitted town that made me feel like I was a part of the story as well! The author's writing was good and did a good job of drawing the reader into the story. I do like the community setting in the story and I was actually curious a little bit about Shiloh's past. I actually got interested with the part about Minnie (the woman who was murdered) reading about her scandalous past.
Overall I actually enjoyed reading the book--this was fast paced, interesting and quite a good cozy thriller and some parts about the food will make you hungry! Worth five stars!
Thank you Netgalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Amanda Flower has done it again, another cozy mystery hit, she never disappoints me!
This is part of a series, but can be read alone, the author does a wonderful job of making you feel that you haven’t missed anything.
Shiloh is trying to save her family farm, and in the process has a Fall Festival, and you can guess it, yup, a body, and not just anyone, but cranky Minnie Devani, and we are off finding whom the culprit is. Did I guess right? Nope!
I wish there was a bit of romance for Shiloh, but so far, just when I think there is a possibility, another one pops up and then none.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series, the pages flew for me!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Poisoned Pen Press, and was not required to give a positive review.
Shiloh is working hard to save the family farm and bring it back better than ever, but things might go from bad to worse when a body shows up and her best friend is on the hook for murder. Outstanding characters that really draw you in and make you want to get to know them better entwined within an intriguing plot with several potential suspects to keep you guessing. This cozy mystery is definitely one you'll want to get into as the clues leading you to the guilty party are more subtle and intriguing. I can't wait to see what happens next!
Set in Cherry Glen, Michigan it’s the autumn 🍂 and Shiloh Bellamy is organizing an event called Fall Faze. She’s put out flyers, placed an ad in the local paper, and even made an event post on social media.
Her friend Kristy Brown manages the Cherry Glen Farmers Market 🍒 👩🏻🌾 Shiloh’s hoping to have enough money to buy back her family farm —Bellamy Farm and put her family farm together.
Her assistant Chesney Stevens is also helping Shiloh at the event.
Following an argument between Kristy and a woman named Minnie Devani, a prominent townswoman Minnie’s body is discovered in a nearby field with Kristy’s scarf 🧣 wrapped around Minnie’s throat. Who killed her and why?
Apparently, Kristy was overheard accusing Minnie of ripping her off while Kristy was on maternity leave. Now Kristy’s a suspect and it’s up to Shiloh to help clear her friend’s name and find the real killer.
The book concludes with Shiloh’s Quick Farm Tips on removing weeds and and reclaiming land.

Put Out to Pasture is book two in Amanda Flowers Farm to Table series. Shiloh Bellamy has her work cut out for her if she hopes to restore the farm and cherry orchard and turn it into an organic farm. Wanting to earn a profit to get this restoration project started she plans to host a fall festival on Bellamy farm. Once again her father complains about her every effort to save the farm. Despite that she goes ahead with the festival and the first day is a success until the most disliked woman in town, Minnie Devoni is found dead with Shiloh’s best friend Kristy’s pretty scarf tied tightly around her neck. Things do not look good for Kristy since she and Minnie had just had a loud and heated argument at the festival earlier that day. Chief Randy claims Kristy is his prime suspect for Minnie’s murder and Shiloh gets busy trying to find other suspects with motives enough to want Minnie dead. Evidence turns up that proves the diseased woman isn’t who she claimed to be and she had been deceiving everyone in Cherry Glen for years. Could someone from Minnie’s past have killed her ? Will Shiloh be able to gather enough evidence to solve this murder case and save Kristy from going to prison?
I was quickly drawn into this puzzling mystery from the first page. I’m growing to love the characters that are a part of the series. True that a few of them aren’t too lovable but they all play their roles very good . I find myself forgetting it’s fiction. The book was very entertaining and unpredictable at times. I thought it was a page turner with chapters ending with situations that left readers hanging and wanting to quickly read on to the next chapter. I wasn’t able to figure out who really killed Minnie. I do enjoy being totally surprised at the books ending and the author made readers wait till the last chapter to find out who done it! I throughly enjoyed this well written mystery.
I recommend this book to readers of Cozy Mystery and fans of the author. This book is scheduled to be released on February 22,2022
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed returning to Cherry Glen, Michigan. It’s been 3 months since Shiloh returned to the family farm and she’s determined to save it. Her plan is to turn it into a destination for organic produce and add a cafe. Their first promotion is hosting Fall Daze where an argument between Minnie and Kristy breaks out. By the end of the day Minnie is found murdered with Kristy’s scarf around neck.
I really enjoyed this book and returning to memorable characters (both nice and unpleasant ones) and the quaint farm. The mystery itself was well laid out with twists and turns to keep you guessing up to the final reveal. I really like the main character Shiloh and how savy she is. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
I was much too young to have real memories of life on our family's farm but it did bring back some memories of old photos of me in a diaper feeding a bottle to a lamb and looking terrified while surrounded by chickens in another. Even with those vague memories, I felt a tug of recognition in Shiloh Bellamy's dedication to her family's farm. While I can't imagine doing the work she is required to do with minimal help, I could respect her efforts and courage, not to mention her energy. Faced with a mystery, the murder of a woman with an unlawful past, and that initial evidence seems to point to her best friend as the murderer, Shiloh adds saving her friend from arrest to her to-do list.
The plot moves along nicely, albeit interrupted by episodes of farm life and chores that give you a feel for the setting. In addition, the characters are colorful and could be our own neighbors, even the cranky ones. Amanda Flower has a real feel for small town and farm life, making these characters and the setting come alive for us. I even felt a pang of sadness for the seemingly unlikable victim near the end. Good writers have a way of doing that. The addition of a new neighbor adds promise, too, and not just because he is male model gorgeous and seems too good to be true. He shares Shiloh's dream of turning his newly purchased farm into an organic one, too. Hmm, dang, can't wait to see how this plays out in future books. Of course, there is steady, handsome Quinn, too, although Shiloh seems almost too busy to think of romance for more than a few fleeting seconds here and there.
Bottom line, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, What's extra nice is that I can revisit the dream farm of my toddler days without having to ponder doing any of the work. An intriguing mystery that keep me guessing until the very end, characters I'd like to call friends, and no farm chores. Yep, that's a win for us as readers.

Put Out To Pasture is the second book in the Farm To Tablet series by award-winning, best-selling American author, Amanda Flower. It’s three months since Shiloh Bellamy returned to Cherry Glen, Michigan, and she’s determined to save Bellamy Farm. Her dream is to make it a destination for organic produce and intends to add a café to showcase her baking skills.
Their first promotional activity is Fall Daze, a two-day food and fun festival at Bellamy Farm, attracting unexpectedly high numbers of visitors. Some drama is added when Shiloh’s best friend Kristy has a loud argument with one of her Farmers’ Market stall holders. Beekeeper Minnie Devani is later found at the foot of the scarecrow out in the field, strangled.
Circumstantial evidence implicates Kristy as a suspect, and Shiloh is not confident that the town’s Police Chief, Randy Killian won’t just settle for the easiest option rather than investigating further. Shiloh vows to clear her friend’s name, even if it means talking to Minnie’s best (only?) friend, Doreen Killian and her book club friends, who are unlikely to be friendly or welcoming, due to past accusations
But then US Marshal Lynn Chuff arrives, claiming a different name and history for Minnie than the one generally accepted in Cherry Glen. Could her criminal past have caught up with her?
Shiloh discovers she has a (gorgeous) new neighbour, also intending to farm organically, a man who has paid Minnie an exorbitant amount of money for the Market stall she had no right to sell. As Shiloh investigates further, she encounters several more townspeople with grudges against the abrasive Minnie.
This is a cosy mystery with plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing. Shiloh does seem to have rather a lot of free time to spend investigating when she also has a farm to save, and her defining the best friend of her fifteen-years-dead fiancé as “off limits” is puzzling. Doubtless fans of rural cosies will enjoy this one.

Another great one from Amanda Flower. This was the second installment of the farm to table mysteries. Shiloh Bellamy is trying to Save her family’s farm from financial ruin. She has already dumped all of her money into paying off old debts and has decided to hold Fall Daze, a fall festival on the farm. A nasty swell known town grouch is found murdered on the property during the festival and Shilohs friend is accused of the murder.
I liked the involvement of the Marshall in this one as well as the progression of the relationships. I love seeing the characters grow, as well as the farm. I can’t wait to read more about what Shiloh is going to do!!
I missed the first one in this series but since i was given enough information I was able to pick up the book and understand what is going on. I enjoyed the book and will most certainly go back and reads the first book. alot of mistakes but i was able to enjoy the book and understand the mistakes will be fixed before its pu out. waiting to see what happens to shiloh and her farm and her adorable friend with the twins. waiting to see what will happen next
I enjoy this authors books. Shiloh is trying to restore her family's farm. Her Dad has retreated into his home and his hobby of documenting the history of the area. One way Shiloh is trying to restore the farm is to host a festival and share her produce. The plan is in serious jeopardy when the body of a local woman is found under Shiloh's scarecrow.
This was fun, the characters are interesting and quirky. The ending took me by surprise.
Shiloh has saved her family farm but she is still struggling to keep it in the black. When she has a festival to raise money for the farm it all comes crashing down when a body is found. Shiloh's best friend Kristy becomes the main suspect because she was seen arguing with the victim shortly before her death. Shiloh and her faithful pug must find the killer before Kristy pays the price.
This is a cute cozy read with quirky characters, a lovable pug, and lots of entertainment.
What another wonderful cozy mystery. If you need a good mystery with no gore then this is the way to go. Great read!
Shiloh's childhood best friend, Kristy, as the prime suspect as a murder. After the scence between Kirsty and Minnie and a item found on her body us there's any way its not her. Shiloh trying to make the best of the farm and drum up business to finance its cost add a body to this mix. I hardly noticed I was reading a book as the story really pulled me on. I finished this book within a few hours. Would highly recommend reading.
Another West Michigan-based mystery and I LOVE IT!! Having started this series with the second book, I felt I got the history of everyone only after the first couple of chapters. Huck the pug is a riot with his expressions and Esmeralda is ever the kid-loving feline. Being a Michigander, I was wishing to hear more about Dad's collection. I can't wait for the next installment.
Thank you Poisoned Pen Press and NetGalley for the advance read.
Engaging and clever cozy mystery. Enjoyable characters with interesting potential. I thought I had read the first one in the series, but it seems as if I have not. I plan to do so and look forward to reading the next one.
