Love this!!! Very engaging story. Packed full of action and adventure. Life hardened female and male warriors who clash for their independence yet forced to retain teamwork in less than trustworthy circumstances. Aidan and Onnika are both very strong-willed and really have a lot in common including just surviving. The mystery of the magic is intriguing, the suspense of their predicament and the emotion of their chemistry are all come together into an intense reading experience that I couldn't put down!! Never a dull moment. Thumbs up to this couple, they work hard giving their all and their love is heartwarming. So happy for them.

Stealing the Dragon's Heart had a complex enough plot, character development, and sex scenes to hold the attention of the reader who wants a little bit of everything. The slow burn between Aidan and Onnika sizzles throughout the entire book. I do wish there were a few more hot scenes between the two of them. The plot and the crew of characters help bring this rather large world to life. While I realize this is part of a large series, reading this as a standalone is fine too. I haven't read any of the other books and I found it easy to understand.

This was a fun, easy read. I say easy because I was pretty entertained and lost track of time when reading this book.

Onnika is a wild, get into all kinds of trouble, type of heroine. She was bold and I like that she flirted shamelessly. It's a nice break from the shy heroines I normally see.

Aiden is that gruff, grumpy kind of hero that easily fell under Onnika's spell, but that was also the thing that made him so cautious with her. He could see how she cast a spell over everyone. Despite his hesitancy with her, he was very protective of her and I loved that.

The race they were involved in and the challenges they had to do really made for an entertaining storyline and has me wanting to read the rest of the books in this series. I hope they are all like this one.

“Stealing the dragon’s heart” by Kiersten Fay was a steamy romantic book.

Onnika and Aidan have a lot going on from heated sexual attraction to heart-retching backstories. Onnika and her sister Caryn had to escape their homeland at a young age and have been trying desperately to get back home. They end up meeting Aidan and his crew entered in a phase nine race after getting out of a bad situation.

I fell for their love story. Kiersten Fay catches you by surprise as she goes in deep into the characters' lives. The story started a little slow so I didn't think I would continue reading but there is so much more to the story.

Another great read from the series. I loved it, the characters, the story, the chemistry, suspension, and action. To see this dragon fall for the witty stealing witch is priceless to read. The story is funny but it also warms your heart. Amazing!
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book is part of a series I believe, but reads well as a stand alone. I am not exactly sure why but I really enjoyed this book. Maybe because it is so outside of the realm of possibilities for me. It has adventure, romance, fantasy, villains, dragons...to name a few. The characters are interesting. I did not really care much one way or the other for Caryn but I like Onnika for being a bad asz. She made me smile. Pretty unbelievable but a lot of fun. 4 stars. Aidan was a hoot as well.

Onnika and Caryn are on the run from people who have been keeping them as slaves. They sneak aboard a ship and hope to get away from the bad guys. But they end up on the ship of a guy who's credits Onnika stole and he's not happy. The captain and a few others want to throw them off the ship but another member of the crew has already registered the sisters as members of the crew so they are there to stay at least for now.

Aidan has entered his ship and crew into the deadly Phase Nine race. So while they are trying to beat the other entrants, he starts to get to know Onnika and they get closer.

I really didn't like Onnika at all. She's a liar, deceiver and uses her charms to get what she wants. Yes, I kinda understood why she was doing what she did in the end but she wasn't much of a likable character at all.

The race was dangerous and there were many times that I had no idea where this story was heading or what would happen next. It held my attention but at the same time I found it slow at times.

Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC via NetGalley but all opinions and thoughts are my own.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I was so excited for this book after the way the last book left off. I wanted to read more about Aidan and this infamous Phase 9 race that almost close him everything that last time. Then there is Onnika and her sister that have talked their way on to Aidan's ship. There is a lot of emotions, pain, fear and sass going on in this book. I was not sure how I was going to handle this but Aidan and Onnika bring a whole new heat level to this series. I found it a little strange how well she just fit in with the crew and found her place there. I think they are one of my favorite couples.

I really enjoyed this book.. Two sisters end up aboard a ship that is embarking on a highly dangerous race. There is great character development as well as strong female characters. The ending is stand alone but also leaves things in a way that you can transition to the sequels if you want to.

Another great release, this author does a great job pulling you into the story. Who doesn't love a dragon and the girl who needs him..

Kiersten Fay’s Dragon Lord series is a mixture of fantasy/sci-fi romance featuring an incredible cast of characters with deep bonds clearly obvious to the reader. The friendships are evident of long-standing relationships and Stealing The Dragon’s Heart is a fantastic addition to this series. What follows is a rollercoaster ride between two damaged and secretive people both with trust issues set against the background of an intergalactic space race that, to this reader at least, was reminiscent of the Wacky Races cartoon of my childhood.

This book can be read as a stand-alone but I’d recommend reading the series in the order of publication to keep the timeline straight.

Another action-packed sci-fi, romance adventure! This story is set in the exciting world of interstellar racing (think Indy 500 only a LOT more dangerous). The science fiction aspect is not overly technical but more a background that makes the story itself more intriguing and unique.

Aidan, has already won the race once but lost his entire family at the same time. Although his heart isn't in it, his loyalty to those he works with demands his best. He is a fabulous character and one readers can love and root for whole-heartedly.

Onnika, maybe not so much. Her character is incredibly and intentionally manipulative and deceitful, making it very hard to sympathize with or even like her. She uses her sexual appeal to get what she wants. She steals without remorse and lies without thinking. As the story progresses, the author uncovers the reasons behind her behavior which helps one understand. Still, she may be a challenging character to connect with, although undoubtedly an interesting one!

The story, itself, is chock-full of twists and turns, action and danger with just an added touch of warmth and humor to keep it riveting. It's all kinds of fun packed into one night of can't-put-down reading!

This fast paced book is a mixture of paranormal romance and science fiction. Aidan and his crew have signed up for a deadly dangerous race that involves opportunities to compete in games along the way. Onnika and her sister manipulate their way on board in effort to escape a man who had enslaved them and used their skills for selfish reasons. It is fun and moves quickly. The competition will make you hold your breath in anticipation and root for the home team.

Fast paced and exciting. A book that flings you through new galaxies. Can't wait for the next one! My only criticism would be that I would love to hear more about the dragons!

4 solid stars!

This is definitely not my usual genre, although it kind of reminds me of the Darkon Rising series by L. E. Horn, which is part sci-fi, part fantasy, and part romance. I saw the title and the description on Netgalley and thought it sounded like an interesting premise and I requested it before I realized it was the third book in the series. But I figured I'd give it a whirl anyway and it turns out it was totally fine. Looking back at the descriptions of the other books, it looks like each one can be read alone, and in fact, the main characters are different for each book.

Overall, I really liked this story and I was definitely rooting for Onnika and her sister, as well as Aidan and his crew. The interactions were usually entertaining, although occasionally it got a bit too much--almost like they were trying too hard. But overall, I really liked the chemistry amongst the crew and the chemistry between Aidan and Onnika was apparent from the get-go. So if insta-love / enemies-to-lovers is not your thing, this might not be the best series for you. But along with the romance aspect, there was the race itself and I loved all the obstacles they had to overcome, and the last challenge with Onnika and Caryn was truly exciting. I loved the overarching story of Onnika and Caryn searching for home and the connection with the rest of the universe. This book is part of a spin-off series in the Shadow Quest universe. After reading this, I would enjoy reading other stories in the same universe. It's definitely great mindless fun and it doesn't seem like you have to read the books in any particular order, although it might give you more context for different characters. Personally, I didn't feel like I was missing anything with this book.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Stealing the Dragon's Heart
Dragon Lords Book 3
by Kiersten Fay

I received an e-arc of this book from NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op in exchange for an honest review.

This book offers an intriguing mash up of genres - bringing together a space opera, dragon shifters, aliens and a fairy like people for a space race to lead them all to a greater prize than fame and glory with what they find in one another.

These characters were fun, witty and fully fleshed out so that you truly felt a connection to them. Their journey through the many challenges not just of the race but of learning to trust one another is captivating. The romance is steamy and yet somehow whimsical in that our hero is quickly besotted no matter how much he tries not to be - which I for one just love. The sister bond between our heroine and her sister is complex, heart felt and sincere.

This is the 3rd in the Dragon Lord series but can be read as a stand-alone and is in the same world as the authors previous Shadow Quest series.

If you are looking for something a little off the beaten path in paranormal romance check this out immediately! You will not regret it. Released 8/25/21.

5/5 stars. So fun! A fantastic ride! Loved it!

Stealing the Dragon's Heart is a wickedly breathtaking and fiercely passionate journey that will undoubtedly pierce your heart and leave you completely changed on the other side. It is truly a spectacular addition to the Dragon Lords series! I love how this story takes place on a whole new backdrop where we explore many new worlds and discover wonderful new species and creatures. My heart was completely in for this new story, but what I found rocked my world in the most profound way. As you dive into this stunning story beware that you might just lose your heart in the blink of an eye.

Never able to outrun his past, Aidan finds himself back at the beginning of where his troubles began. Left with no choice, he makes the best out of his situation be surrounding himself with long time friends. Together they are ready to take on whatever comes their way. Onnika and her sister find themselves in a very deadly bind. On the run and without any help, they talk there way onto a ship. Her temporary haven brings her straight to Aidan. Neither trusts the other, and yet somehow Onnika finds safety and peace for once in her life. Will Onnika shatter the remaining peace in Aidan's life, or will she instead become the missing piece in his lonely, desolate world?

I knew these dragon lords were deep, passionate men, but I NEVER could have predicted Aidan and his effect on me. He was completely unexpected, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second I spent with him. However, Onnika was truly the wildcard. She could not be contained or controlled, and she fit in so well with Aidan and his crew. There was honestly never a dull moment, and I was kept on the edge of my seat the entire time! This is an extraordinary adventure that will enchant and delight every chance it gets. Savor every second because this is one rare treasure that you don't ever want to miss out on out or forget. It will seep into your very soul if you let it.

Kiersten Fay is a true literary genius and adventurer! She writes with a beautiful, poetic spirit of one who is not afraid to try new things and step out of her comfort zone. She never fails to touch your heart and soul as she weaves the beauty and fire and promise that is her story into the work of a master. Don't miss out on the true joy of the freedom to love and trust beyond measure and comprehension.

I have truly enjoyed many books in this series but I will admit this was perhaps not my favorite even though it had enough adrenaline to keep a person running for hours on end.
Onnika and her sister Caryn are faeries with super powers who have had a hard life. When chance brings them the opportunity to flee they take it but in the process this also take a treasure from their current master that he will kill to get back.
A chance encounter with Aiden has Onnika flirting with him to steal his wallet and then subsequently she and her sister end up on his ship looking for safe haven and an escape from the planet. However Aiden and his crew have signed up for a deadly race called Phase 9 which Aiden has won once before only to lose everything he held dear in the aftermath.
Both characters have a lot of angst, but the sexual chemistry between them is red hot and has them rolling between the sheets despite each one's best intent. The deadly phases of the race and the dangers they encounter not to discount the men hunting the sisters all make for an adrenaline fueled ride.

Okay, this is my favourite in the series so far.

Although Aidan was a new character in this series (although a familiar face to the Shadow Quest readers) and I must admit I was a little hesitant about him in the beginning. There were so many characters from Book 2 that I wanted to know more about and this book wasn’t even taking place on the same planet 🤣 YET- I LOVED IT.

Plot:

Aidan is a brilliant pilot who has previously won Phase 9, but at a very steep personal cost. When he is tricked into joining the race he now hates more than anything, he hates how his life has turned out. While buying parts for his ship, he gets robbed by the most beautiful, white haired woman, our heroine, Onnika.

Onnika has learned the hard way to fend for herself and he sister, Caryn. She will do anything to survive, even steal from the gorgeous pilot.

As fate will have it, Onnika and her sister decide to trick their way onto Aidan’s ship and as you can imagine the fireworks start flying when Aidan finds his thief.

As the crew race to win the Universal Game, our two characters try to fight their attraction to each other. With challenges, adventures and developing relationships the story will steal your heart.

What I loved:

- Aidan and Onnika. OMG- these two were incredible. Both were stubborn, strong and determined. Their attraction to each other was off the charts 🔥🔥🔥 and I loved how their relationship slowly developed from sexual attraction to a deep emotional connection. I love that neither took any shit from each other and didn’t ever give up on their relationship.

- The side cast. Specifically the crew. Zeek and co were amazing. When there are so many characters, it’s usually hard to make them individuals whom the reader would love. But Fay does this so well. I loved them all.

- The Race. I love the world building and the pace of the story. The challenges at each phase were brilliant and it was so much fun following their race.

What I didn’t love:

- Caryn. Considering how strong Onnika was, I was upset how weak and timid Caryn was. She always knew how to make Onnika’s life harder and even by the end just refused to grow a back bone.

- Ash and Lear’s relationship with Caryn. What? Honestly, what was the purpose of this weird triangle? I thought Caryn’s potential love interest was clear but apparently no. I don’t like it and I don’t like how this wasn’t wrapped up.

Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely. I haven’t read Shadow Quest but i think this is a brilliant bridge between the two series and now I can’t wait to go back and read Shadow Quest.

This series definitely grows strong with each instalment and I can now see why Fay has so many loyal fans. I am now one of them.

Thank you NetGalley and Kiersten Fay for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Before beginning this book, I decided to read the first book, since it was available on Kindle Unlimited. LOVED it so much, the different culture and worldbuilding was fascinating, and the romance was angsty and romantic. The second book wasn't too expensive, so I bought that one and...things began to go downhill. I still liked it, but it was missing the romance of the first book. Almost too much angst, and I didn't feel the same connection between the main characters. I felt the hero was really rude and mean to the heroine, and she wasn't treated well for most of the book. I still enjoyed the story, but it wasn't as romantic as I hoped. So when I started this book, I was super apprehensive but still hopeful. Sadly, that hope didn't last.

One of the main problems I had with this book took me a while to pinpoint. It wasn't super obvious, but as I was reading, I realized what was wrong - there was too much of the male POV and not enough of the female. Almost every sex scene was from his POV, which is not my cup of tea, and I didn't get enough of her emotions in the story. It was all about him, less about her, which was really different from the first two books. It made it difficult to feel connected with both characters, and while I really enjoyed the plot, that lack of connection to the main characters caused the romance to fall flat. It wasn't exciting, the story began to drag, and by the time I reached the end, I was both sad and relieved. This book would absolutely have been at least 4/5 stars if there had been more female POV, but with mainly one POV throughout the book, it dropped it down to 3 stars. And that was for the amazing writing the author did otherwise. Great storyteller, I hope it improves with the next book, because I really enjoy the world she has created.
