This was adorable, and I can see it becoming a quick favorite among younger children. The main character is cute and squishy, and I would love him as a stuffed animal. The story is easy to follow and sweet. This one had all the elements of a great children’s book!
Hmmm... The moral 'there's no place like home' is portrayed by a cute-seeming underwater thingummy, as it swims about its world searching for the place it knows it has to discover that is its perfect future home. En route the whole thing feels just a little too twee, a little too woke, and more than a little too wishy-washy and unengaging. Not a terrible effort, mind – but very forgettable.
A colorful little book that sends the message around the comfort that home provides while allowing our littles to try new things and put ourselves out there. This was a sweet little story with colorful pages and a positive message and the perfect amount of wording for a quick read for the intended age.
This book makes me want to say "awwww!" It's so sweet. The baby sea creature heads off to find a place of his own, but ends up finding that being in mama's arms is best. The illustrations are sweet and colorful. Several different sea creatures are portrayed on the pages, allowing for the opportunity for the parent to narrate about those animals outside of the story. A lovely book.
Melville is a tiny little book about a squishy purple sea creature. He wants to explore the sea and find the right place for him when his Mumma calls him for a hug. Melville finds schools of fish, swims among stingrays, alongside whales, and even sees pirates. He gets tired of finding the right place for him and goes back to his Mumma. He declares that it is indeed the best place for him.
The illustrations are soft and beautiful. The message is just as beautiful. Each page has mostly a line of text that makes it super easy to read for little ones. Melville would be a lovely bedtime book for kids. It's a very small book, so parents might have to linger over each page a bit longer.
Thank you, NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing, for the ARC.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. I found this to be a very colorful, cute story. It appears to be about finding your own space and belonging. Truly enjoyable. Fun to read to children. 4 stars
This was a really cute little book and I loved the story!
I read it with my daughter when we were having story time snuggled up and she said she loved it and he was right being with mamma is the best! She is a real little bookworm and the fact she asked to read this one again was a huge positive for the book as she can be really picky as there is so much to choose from.
It was easy to follow and understand and she is learning to read so the layout and phrases really helped with that too. It was a great little read with some lovely illustrations too - it is 5 stars from us!
This is so adorable. This will be so popular among both children and parents. Melville has his adventures but still returns home, giving the message that its okay to venture out into the world, but home is a safe place and will always be so. Amazing.
This is an adorable story with wonderful illustrations. Perfect bedtime story for kiddos. I can’t say enough good things about the illustrations, they’re fantastic. This book is just the right length and I loved the ending. Highly recommend
I thought this was an adorable book that incorporated animals and the idea of exploring the book world in a fun and creative way.
Cute book for younger children. Melville looks for the perfect spot for him to be himself. The illustrations are fun and colorful. I think small children will enjoy this short book.
Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity to review this ARC.
An adorable picture book to remind even the boldest and bravest of explorers that there’s no place like home.
This sweet book tells the story of Melville, a small sea creature who is looking for the best place that is just for him. His adventure leads his through the sea where he encounters many creatures who are different from him.
I thought this book was adorable. The illustrations are simple, but colorful and bright. I loved how the same colors were used throughout. There weren’t too many words on each page which will make it perfect for story time with children and also a good reference for first learning to read.
Overall I enjoyed this sweet book. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this advanced copy.
