Beautiful nature illustrations fill this lovely copy of Sense and Sensibility. This is something that, of course, would be much more stunning on the page but I enjoyed looking through the electronic copy I was given. I like to think that Marianne Dashwood would love this illustrated copy since she loved reading the writers of the era who wrote about nature. I think people who love nature illustrations and Austen will love this edition of Sense and Sensibility.

This copy of Sense and Sensibility is beautiful and I love the color scheme. The cover is stunning, as are the first couple of pages and illustrations throughout. I think that the colors match well with the story, as well as the depictions of flowers and nature. However, my only complaint is, while these drawings are beautiful, they don't add much to the story. I would love to see some character depictions as well or direct scenes from the book.

This would be a great gift for an avid reader of Jane Austen or someone just wanting to add a prettier addition to their shelves. It's a great book by Jane Austen and one that everyone should read.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review! 3.5 stars - gorgeous, but leaves me wanting more...

As a Jane Austen fan and flower lover, I find these books absolutely beautiful. I know there are several ways you can get Austen's novels and other works, but these editions are great for book collectors or Austen fans.

Sense and Sensibility is my least favourite of Austen's novels, but one I still thoroughly enjoy. I find the pacing can be a little slow at times.

I hope these editions might grab someone's attention and encourage them to pick up an Austen novel. I know many readers sometimes do judge a book by the cover, and some of the art on Austen's covers are quite boring.

I received an eARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

As an avid Austen fan, I really love the opportunity to reread her work every time I can.
I feel like everything about her writing has been said, so I'll only comment the illustrations. I really liked the floral details, which combine well with the story and the time period.

It's not news that I'm a Jane Austen fan, but this new edition is beautifully illustrated and a happy addition to my shelf. Whether the Dashwoods have long been some of your favorite characters (see one of the 1892 editions of this book earlier in my Insta gallery at Instagram.com/BeautyBeatLifestyle), or you're meeting them for the first time, this edition is perfect for reading in a garden (or pretending you're in a garden while snuggled up at home). I also love to go through the book and highlight dialogue and sections used in the film (Emma Thompson is a dream in everything), and this version lends itself well to that study and writing research practice.

A beautiful edition of one of my all-time favorite books. The tale tells the story of two sisters, each looking for love in their own way.

This was an absolutely gorgeous edition of an incredible book! The illustrations weren't too over the top, and didn't distract from the story but added to it. Floral motifs repeated throughout elevated the story, and the colour palette really fits the book's mood. Would absolutely buy this for any Jane Austen lovers, it'll look great up on a bookshelf and is a real treat.

Yet another beautiful edition of Jane Austen’s novels from this publisher. It is wonderful to read the tale of Elinor Dashwood and Miss Dashwood in such a beautiful form. Probably my favourite of Jane Austen’s novels, this edition is a dream to read with its gorgeous floral illustrations at every turn. Highly recommended for Austen’s fabulous story and the added bonus of the beauty of the edition, Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this beautiful novel.

I'm always on the lookout for a beautifully done classic novel to recommend for a home book collection (or to add to my own!) and this one totally fit the bill. I've reviewed this version of Sense and Sensibility for style and art, rather than the test, as it is a classic we all know.

The book is full of gorgeous watercolors at almost every turn - peonies, camellias and fuchsias; butterflies, birds, and feathers; oak leaves, acorns, and mushrooms. They fill the margins of pages, sit on top of the first letter of chapter, and/or fill the blank at the end of the page at the chapter closes.

The story is told in three volumes, each of which are headed by a lovely, purple-shaded cover page that coordinates with the lovely dark pink, hardback cover, purple end pages, and multitudinous floral illustrations.

The description of the edition also mentioned additional ephemera as well, such as four-color maps, letters, family trees, and sheet music, which were not apparent in the PDF copy I reviewed. As these sound fabulous, hopefully these will be available in the final hardcover version coming out this autumn.

A big thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for providing and Advance Reader Copy in exchange for this honest review.

Gorgeous, timeless edition of the classic Sense and Sensibility. It's always a pleasure to pay a visit to these two sisters, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, and the wit and writing of Jane Austen. The lovely artwork by Marjolein Bastin in this timeless edition enhances the story and is a perfect addition to any Austen lovers library.

Many thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I love Sense and Sensibility and will take an opportunity I have to read it. This book was so pretty though, I loved the illustrations throughout the book and it made it even more enjoyable to read. This would be the perfect gift for any Jane Austen fan.

“It isn't what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.”

Sense and Sensibility is a joyous classic. There are certainly truly detestable characters (looking at Willoughby, Lucy Steele, and John and Fanny Dashwood) but the story itself is wonderful to read. I’ve spent many hours happily re-reading (or listening) to this lovely Jane Austen title.

I don’t know how to convey just how much Marjolein Bastin’s illustrations add even more gloriousness to this well-loved classic. Her artwork is stunning and this would make a beautiful addition to any well tended home library.

“If a book is well written, I always find it too short.”

Thanks to Andrew McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. Opinions shared are influenced by nothing other than my reading experience.

I've read and reread Sense and Sensibility many times, it's my first ever Austen, so I jumped to the chance of getting an illustrated edition, done by an artist completely new to me.

Marjolein Bastin's artwork is gorgeous, and very unusual. Instead of people or scenes from the story, as I had been expecting, she draws vegetation. That is, flowers, trees, vines, and so on, everything is so garden-like and flowery, unique and unexpected. It suits the English countryside setting quite aptly, too. And whilst I am partial to scenes as far as illustration goes, I loved this style very much; it makes you pause a bit to think and try to guess what it may be trying to represent wordlessly. A beautiful edition to own for your Classics collection!

This book is a classic book, so I'm really reviewing the illustrated portion. It would be a beautiful print gift for a Jane Austen book lover. The illustrations are gorgeous watercolors of roses, wildflowers, botanicals, woodland creatures, which give it an antique feel. As much as I thought the illustrations were beautiful, I do feel like the book would have been further enhanced had there been illustrations for each chapter which captured elements of the story, characters or plot.

A beautifully illustrated copy of a well-loved story. I knew what the content was going to be, as I love Sense and Sensibility. The artwork of Marjolein Bastin makes this a delightful addition to any library of young readers or those who are new to the classics. I love the small page embellishments like flowers, leaves and feathers. Other larger images of birds and trees are stunning and add so much to the pages. Nothing in the story has changed, just artistic beauty added to draw out the literary beauty of a timeless story.

I received a complimentary copy, with thanks, from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are solely my own and freely given.

Thank you to Netflix, the publisher, and the artist for an ARC of this illustrated copy of Sense and Sensibility!

I love classics and I really like seeing how different publishers try to vamp things up with each subsequent edition. This one did not disappoint! And I'm already planning to get my hands on a physical copy, because these illustrations are too beautiful to just sit on my kindle screen. The colour palette was exquisite, and with each new chapter comes a set of flowers carefully drawn. It made my entire reading experience just a little more lively especially when I got to the slightly boring bits.

Was I crazy to expect a graphic novel kind of illustrated version of the book when I got the book?

Maybe.

My poor heart.

But then I fell in love with the cover and the pages.

Love the edition.

Thank you publisher for the copy.
