I never had any doubt that the final book in The Expanse series would deliver everything I wanted, but Leviathan Falls surpassed all expectations. One of the best aspects of the series has been its ability to constantly expand its world, adding in new threats (of both the political and alien variety), new characters, new worlds, and new opportunities for the Roci family to be forced to choose between one bad option and one worse one. Leviathan Falls continues to do all of this, while also delivering satisfying conclusions to the series' biggest ongoing questions and mysteries. It's action-packed, meditative, and speaks to the heart of human resiliency in the face of unfathomable odds and tragedy. You never see any of the twists coming, and yet each turn like the inevitable end point that the books have been building toward the entire time. It's a stunning conclusion to one of the best sci-series. My only complaint is that it's over.
