The Trapped Wife is the kind of book that hooks the reader immediately, making impossible to put down. I figured out a few of the twists ahead of time, but there were still several I didn't see coming. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent reading The Trapped Wife and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a psychological thriller! Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

Wow what a rush! A wonderfully written twisty turny tale that gets your heart racing and your goosebumps on high alert. This is one of those stay up way to late to read it books. Great characters a solid story line and some pretty amazing plot twist. Overall one helluva ride.

The Trapped Wife is another cracking read by Samantha Hayes, having read a couple of previous books by this author it is becoming apparent that she is fast becoming a master of leading you down the garden path!!
Jennifer is married although when we meet her she is adjusting to life as a widower due to her husband dying in an avalanche whilst skiing. The book is a slow burner at the beginning but will leave you not wanting to put the book down until the end. The dual timeline worked well with it being then and now. I’m actually not going to talk about the plot as this will definitely spoil it for you as I think coming in blind like I did made it much more shockable. There are so many twists and turns in this thriller that you don’t know which way to go and who to believe.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

The Trapped Wife was definitely a mystery. Complex characters with a then and now timeline. I just couldn’t figure out which way it was going to go. It had lots of suspense and it made me that everyone was guilty of something!
The author wrote a good story with surprising twists and turns. And as it’s stated on the cover, “whatever you think you’re wrong”! Boy howdy.
I liked it and will definitely read another by this author.
Thanks Bookouture via Netgalley.

This was a good book. It takes a while to get into and is a bit of a slow burner. The character, apart from Jen are hard to root for, and towards the end it gets a bit unbelievable. Overall a good read

This was great read that kept me gripped to the last page although at times I felt uncomfortable with the predicament the main character was in.
Jennifer has lost her husband and is pregnant by a one night stand she doesn’t remember consenting.
In comes Scott who threatens to reveal all her secrets and suddenly starts moving in.
You honestly didn’t know where this story was going and the conclusion was fantastic.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’m sorry, no. I cannot stand keeping secrets to spare your reputation. If someone like Scott came into my life, I would not nuzzle up to him, I would not offer him tea, I would not entertain his delusions. Period. Call the cops, out you go, restraining order filed. I will not be quiet just because you’re threatening my reputation. At the end of the day, the only opinions that matter are those in the heads that lay on the pillows in your own home at night. This book would have knocked it out of the park if I could stand Jennifer a little more.

Jennifer returns to work a few weeks after her husband's death. On the same day, she finds out she got pregnant from a drunken one-night stand. She doesn't remember much of that night, doesn't know who the father of her baby is. But he will soon make himself known, and she will have no choice but to invite him to her home...

I'm a great fan of Samantha Hayes, so I had high expectations for her new book. The story gripped me fast; it was suspenseful and creepy.
However, at some point, I guessed what was happening, and I felt disappointed.
Well, let me tell you... Whatever I thought I knew was wrong. The twists left me open-mouthed. Samantha Hayes produced yet another brilliant book.

If you’re a fan of BA Paris, then this is a must read! There is wonderful character development, just the fright amount of suspense and plenty of twists! I finished this in less than 2 days!

Sheesh, this is a twisty twister of a tale for sure! Sinister and foreboding story, gave me the creeps! And even though I figured some stuff out early on, there were plenty more twists to shock me during the second half and right up to the very end! I knocked off a star because I hate any violence toward children and there were some scenes I had to skim or skip read, but even so, I would definitely read more by this author. Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Samantha Hayes for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. Jen is a well known doctor in her community with a husband and teenage son. Her husband, Jeremy, is killed while on a ski trip by an avalanche. When she finds out that she is pregnant, she knows that the baby is not her husband's as they were having marital problems and she knew that he was having an affair. While Jen is away at a convention, she has a one night stand but doesn't remember anything until flashes from that night come back and she believes she was raped. Scott enters her life and it gets crazy. I liked this book and parts of it were really good but parts were just okay and a little confusing.

I found this book very slow to begin with and it struggled to keep my attention, About 30% in it totally picked up and I was hooked! I loved the alternating viewpoints and thought they tied in together wonderfully. Fantastic ending which I didn't expect

Jen may be the ‘trapped wife’, but as I devoured this claustrophobic and chilling masterpiece, I definitely felt trapped in the scenes and storylines too. However, that might just be because I was struggling to put it down.

I liked the fact that there are a number of storylines at play, namely three main ones, and that Samantha manages to navigate each of them, maintaining the reader’s interest in all the thrills of each of them, until the pieces of the jigsaw finally fall into place, without it becoming at any point onerous or confusing for the reader.

There are slower elements to the story but I didn’t feel this was a bad thing in this case as I enjoyed building a picture of the characters, especially Jen, Rhonda and Scott, and the setting.

Samantha Hayes throws unexpected twists into the mix to ensure that this perfectly plotted fiction draws to a clever ending. I would definitely recommend this book and author to fans of Ruby Speechley, Shalini Boland and Arianne Richmonde
