I loved the cover and the pr out there for this book drew me in. Overall, this book has moments but it takes a while and has characters who make it difficult to root for.
The story has moments as I mentioned and the twists can be surprising.

I love a good story with multiple story lines. I absolutely loved the plot! It gave me goosebumps and made me very uncomfortable (in a good way!). I enjoyed the creepiness of it from the beginning. With its disturbing characters and the sinister mood, with many secrets and lies - try to avoid reading this at night because it will keep you up. The twists and turns made my head spin! Highly recommend!

When i started to read this book i didn't think that it would be so complicated. In a way it was brilliant. Why?Because it was unique and really, really well written and it gave me the impression that i will never find the truth behind all those hidden clues.
But..In a way it was frustrating and it drove me a little insane. Why?Because you won't understand what was really happening or what it was really about until the final chapters.Eh,the main subject, that was really complicated. And confusing...And then you get to those final chapters and BAM everything starts to make sense ...Uh,no,clue how i really feel about this.
Interesting characters and story..Yet,i can't give it more than 2 stars .

The Trapped Wife by Samantha Hayes

Jennifer is a doctor in a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business. Jennifer’s husband Jeremy left on a skiing holiday and was killed in an avalanche, Jennifer now has to pick up the pieces of her life and do the best she can for their 16-year-old son Kieran. Its Jennifer’s first week back at work when a new patient walks in, Scott Shaw, she has a strange creepy feeling she knows him and has seen him before.

This book is written in from three points of view and two time slots; From the present; Jennifer and her best friend Rhonda and from the past Even an unpopular kid at school who finally makes a friend, Mac.

I could not put the book down as the story kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is fast paced and exciting. The drama and suspense are excellent, this book lives up to its heading of psychological thriller. Samantha Hayes is an excellent author and her books are always full of jaw dropping twists.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

After reading The Liar's Wife I was excited to see that Ms. Hayes had a new book out and that I had to get my hands on a copy.

I found the first third of the book to be very slow. And I have to be honest that a couple of times, I was thinking of putting this one aside. But my gut told me to keep going, especially after checking out some reviews that had been posted.

Then the second third of the book I felt that I had figured the plot out, but I had to keep reading to see if I was right. Was I?

Then BAM!!! The last third of the book was so suspenseful that I couldn't read, nor turn the pages fast enough!!! The story continued at breakneck speed that I found myself holding my breath

The conclusion was hair raising that I finished reading it with my mouth wide open because it was so unexpected.

Ms. Hayes has written another great read!!! Now I wait for her next novel!!

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!!!

I received a complimentary copy from Bookouture via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Initially, I thought this was a slow read with too many unnecessary details filling the pages, but once I got into it, I realized it was so much more.

The characters are engaging and well-thought out, evolving with the story and totally surprising.

At first, you see and ideal family working through an unimaginable loss, but then when a stranger shows up the memories come rushing back. Is he who you think he is or someone else entirely? Accusations are made but the truth is sorted and unthinkable. I truly enjoyed this book and am glad I stuck with it. It for sure has the vibes of Ruth Ware or Liane Moriarty.

Jennifer's life is falling apart. Her husband went on a ski trip and never returned. The story goes back and forth between two timelines and is full of suspense. I thought I knew what happened but ended up being surprised! I love it when that happens. This is my second book from this author and most certainly will not be my last!

Wow! Didn’t see that one coming!

One twist and turn after another, I couldn’t read this fast enough. I had to know how everything fit together. I figured out one mystery early on but the rest didn’t start clicking into place until well after the halfway point.

Well worth the read. Highly recommended for those of you who love a good mental workout.

This is a great book from Samantha.

The writing flows really well and the two timelines interconnect so flawlessly that I didn't even realise until the end.

It has twists and turns and some tension throughout.

Highly recommend

This book seemed interesting based on the blurb and it doesn't disappoint on that front. The story is mainly told in two alternating narratives - Jen in the present and a young boy in the past. Jen's husband passed away several months ago on a skiing trip and she and her son, Kieran, are trying to cope and move on with their lives.

The young boys Kieran and Mac, a classmate of his who shares the same fascination with bugs and creepy crawlies. They also share the tendency to harm these bugs, which creates an odd bond between them. As they grow closer, they dream of hurting those who treat them badly and come up with the name 'Kill Club' for themselves. The author does a good job of leading you to think one way and then revealing just how wrong you were. Great read. It’s very twisty and turny. Not what you predict at all

I enjoyed this book! Samantha Hayes has become one of my favourites as I have read a few of her books now. I also love domestic thrillers!

This was so suspenseful! Just when I thought I knew who did it, I was thrown a curve ball and felt I had no idea. I was surprised in the end and found this book to be so enjoyable! Love trying to put everything together from beginning to end. I will have to get other books written by Samantha Hayes.

Wow, just wow! Hayes really knocked it out of the park with this one. Not only was the character development fantastic, but the story moved at such a pace, I almost needed to catch my breath (however, I could not put the book down long enough to do so!) There are more twists and turns than a country lane, and the author is a master of making you think twice about everything you know.

Essentially, a GP has a one night stand which she lives to regret. Nothing is what it seems in The trapped Wife, and just as I thought Ihad guessed what was going on, the author threw another curveball at us.

This may sound like the story would be difficult to follow, but the twists and turns are incredibly well woven in the book.

In some ways, The Trapped Wife is a domestic noir come edge of your seat thriller.

If i could give more than five stars, I really would. Thanks Netgalley

Jen Miller, a General practitioner and now a widow living with her teenage son still grieving the loss of her husband, Jeremy. Everyone believes that Jeremy was killed in an accident on his ski trip. Before Jeremy died, Jen suspects he was having an affair with a woman he is working with. Jen finds herself pregnant with a one-night stand that she had during a business conference, weeks after the death of Jeremy. But she can't recall what happened that night. Days after a guy Scott showed up and very quickly Jen realizes his intentions.

Jen's best friend, Rhonda, then finds out that Jen was keeping a guy at her place seems suspicious and Rhonda doesn't feel right about Scott. Rhonda wants to investigate the woman who's having an affair with Jeremy and who's this Scott that Jen seems to be uncomfortable with. Rhonda is always on hand just when she needs her but, is she hiding something from Jen?

Jen and Rhonda have a secret in the past that Jen is trying to conceal but someone will come back for her.

I think this is a really good, dark psychological thriller that I certainly did not see the end coming. I didn't know what to expect when I first started. I do not like Scott as the character here. It pissed me off while reading his doing. I mean, if I'm Jen, I wouldn't even allow him to stay whatever the cost. Haha.. That just shows that I am too engrossed with this story. What I also loved was the twist at the end. Good one! Would recommend this for sure!

This is my first novel by Samantha Hayes. I really enjoyed it and definitely look into her other books.

Nothing is as it seems. Jen had it all a loving husband, a growing teenager son and a busy career but that has all changed in a blink of an eye. Her cheating husband is dead which came as a big shock to everyone and she has just found out that she is pregnant and that isn’t what she needs right now. She remembers some of that night but she knows that she said no and now everything has been turned upside down. Her new patient has become a stalker and when he starts blackmailing Jen she has no choice but to let Scott into her life. As more becomes clearer she realises that her life is about to take a deadly turn but can she really go through with it. Jen has many secrets and Scott is part of her past that she needs gone and even if that means doing something that she thought that she couldn’t do. What will push Jen over the edge? A great read kept me turning the pages. We never know what secrets people hide. The ending did catch me out. You never know how much a person can take before they explode.

The Trapped Wife is a twisty UK psychological thriller in the unreliable protagonist trope. Dr Jen Miller is a respected GP in a small village, recently widowed after her husband Jeremy was caught in an avalanche in the Alps. She and her teenage son are trying to pick up the pieces and get on with their lives. But that is fraught. Jen remains convinced that Jeremy was having an affair before his death. Her son has a crush on a girl whose heart is elsewhere. Jen’s best friend has many doubts and concerns, not least of which is the new man who has suddenly turned up, moved in with the Millers and seems intent on staying. Just why would Jen let this man stay? They met once before, when she thinks he drugged her, possibly raped her, but he has compromising photos of her, and she has her son to worry about and her reputation to protect. (I had to suspend disbelief about this aspect of the story. Surely most women would refuse and suffer the consequences rather than dig themselves into deeper trouble? It is explained later, but this may or may not sit with readers.) Throughout The Trapped Wife, which is told mostly in the point of view of Jen, there are flashbacks to a horrific murder in the same village – when a local boy murdered a toddler – a time when Jen, Jeremy and others were attending the same school as the child killer. As the current day situation twists and turns, the reader knows this past murder is key to what is happening now. Watch out, what you think happened might not be quite right, because the biggest liar could well be the one telling the story. The Trapped Wife certainly lived up to its promise of twists and lies.
Advance review copy received with thanks from the publisher and NetGalley. The Trapped Wife has just released.

A must read psychological thriller perfect for those who like a intense, unbelievable storyline.
The word “horrific” comes to mind when reading The Trapped Wife.
A domestic thriller with so many twists and turns….I was was quite often left pondering where it was going. You must keep reading to the very end. And, what a shocking ending you will arrive at!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

GP Jen is back at work, trying to get her world back on track after her husband disappeared in an avalanche & is presumed dead. Coping with her teenage son's grief & coming to terms with the fact she is pregnant after an ill-advised one night stand. She is not even sure how to grieve as she suspects her husband was having an affair. However little does she know that things are going to get a whole lot worse!

Along with Jen's story, told from her point of view & from her friend Rhonda's perspective, there is the story of a strange little boy & his friend Mac who form 'The Kill Club'

Anyone who has read any of Samantha Hayes books knows that she doesn't make things easy for her readers & this is no exception. For an intelligent, supposedly responsible person Jen really seemed to have lost the plot & I wanted to give her a good shake! Eventually the dots were joined- perhaps a few more than were strictly necessary & you wondered what would happen next. The fact you are left wanting the answers is part of the skill of Samantha Hayes! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.
