I really enjoyed this and so gutted that I came in at book 2. Now that I know that about this author and series I will be investigating. It doesnt really matter that it is book 2 and not book 1, just think it would add more to the experience.

The main character, Abby, is well developed, she is a recovering alcoholic and that plays a key focus in her life. Her boyfriend and then her boss what can I say.

Nice easy read on a cold English day conjuring up images of sunshine and such tasty food.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

I read the first one and then realized how lucky I was to have the second one already to read immediately after. Normally I am not a fan of female characters, but Abby isn’t bad. I like that she is flawed, I also like that she isn’t full of herself. Same as with the first book, the crime in this book was complex, interesting, and kept you guessing to the end. It weaves predictability with unpredictability. One of my favourite elements of mystery books are dirty cops, I find them interesting and they make for a good plot. I like the side characters in this series; they are all different and interesting. I also like that the personal life of Abby doesn’t overshadow the main crime. Instead her personal life is artfully weaved into the story so that it enhances instead of taking away from the story. I eagerly await the next book in this series,

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Abby Pearce is back with her second case on Martha's Vineyard. All but one member of a well to do family has been stabbed to death at a posh hotel and Abby needs to figure out who did it.

I liked this book. It was a pretty good investigation and I didn't know who was guilty. There were some twists and turns and enough new information being turned up that it kept my interest. I have liked all 4 books that I have read from this author and look forward to reading his next.

This is a Detective Mystery, and this is the second book in the Detective Abby Pearce series. I have to say I have not read the first book in this series, and that maybe why I did not love this book. I also did not love the main character, and I do not think she was developed in this book. I felt the characters fall flat for me. I could not get into this book and I had to make myself pick it up. The mystery was not suspenseful for me, and I felt it was really slow moving. If the mystery is going to be a slow moving I need more action and suspense it keep me wanting to keep going. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Another solid addition to the Abby Pearce series. I look forward to seeing how Abby grows, both professionally and personally, as the series continues.

Thank you #netgalley and #bookouture for the eARC.

Silent Island (Detective Abby Pearce Book 2) by Dana Perry is another suspense with twists and an unexpected villain! I enjoyed reading another Detective Abby Pearce thriller. Detective Abby Pearce moved back to her hometown located on Martha's Vineyard after her failed marriage and her attempt to stay sober. She is living one day at a time in the struggle to cope with traumas in her teenaged life and after the shooting of her partner during her previous job.
Abby is called to Beach House, a vacation rental, and she finds the scene is one of horror. A family of five have been stabbed and left bloody in the home. A teenage daughter has been spared the carnage and is found huddled in the back bedroom and unable to tell what she has witnessed. As the investigation progresses, there are many possible suspects to consider as responsible for these murders. The grandparents arrive at the hospital in Martha's Vineyard to comfort the remaining daughter. When they enter the hospital room, they are shocked to see the teenager is not their granddaughter, but a stranger who will not disclose what she knows! The grandparents demand an answer for how this mix-up has happened and ask where is Karin Lavelle?
The plot is intriguing and complex. Not only does Abby have a major murder case to solve, but discovers her friend, Lincoln, is living a double life! I also liked how Teena was brought into the case with Abby more in Silent Island.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the opportunity to read Silent Island.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

Detective Abby is back this time around she and her partner Teena get a call comes from the luxury Beach Hotel. Where a family have been slaughtered found by the maid what shocking is the chilling message left behind. They learn who the family is Thomas Lavelle, a prominent New York cardiologist, his wife, two young daughters and baby son. The only survivor is the Lavelle’s fifteen year old daughter Karin and she in a catatonic state. Abby and Teena are shock when the grandparents tells them that’s this girl isn’t there granddaughter as they tries to figure out if the real Karin is still alive they also have to figure out who this girl is and if she was involved in the murders. As Abby digs deeper she founds a link that maybe connect to her past as she tries to put the pieces together she worries that she won’t find Karin alive and that she won’t get justice.

Abby is strong flawed character and I like Teena this time because at first she was mad at Abby for taking the job she want. I’m not really into Abby possible relationship but overall this was a good read can’t wait for the next book.

When Detective Abby Pearce is called to the Beach House, a holiday home in the most affluent part of Martha’s Vineyard, she finds five bodies. An entire family has been killed in a frenzied attack… all except one. Fifteen-year-old Karin is the only survivor. Sitting in the house, surrounded by her family, she stares into the distance and doesn’t say a word. This was such an amazing mystery! I literally could not put this down until the end. So very well plotted and such great dialog with very compelling characters. This is the second in a series but reads as a standalone. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

A good follow through to the first book with a fast pace. The suspense is also handled well. Ideal for those looking for a quick and easy read.

Book 2 in the Detective Abby Pearce series. Enjoyed this book, found the beginning a bit slow by the last 1/2 of the book I sped through. Enjoyed reading more about Abby’s past in NYC. Look forward to more adventures with Abby.
Thanks publisher and NetGallet for the read.

Dana Perry has thrown Nantucket detective, Abby Pearce, into one puzzling mystery/murder. An entire family is murdered whilst on vacation; however, their oldest daughter survives... and yet when her grandparents arrive to take her home, they announce it's not their grand-daughter and they've never seen her before. Detective Pearce is balancing her sobriety, a possible relationship, her history, and so much more as she works not only a murder, but also tries to locate the missing girl. Teena is one of the best supporting cast characters around... as well as the grumpy Chief. This is a great second novel for this series, and I cannot wait to see where Abby is headed next!

This is the second book in the Abby Pearce series. This author has 2 series that he is writing and I have loved both of them. I am waiting for the next book in both series. Lots of twists and turns and characters that you will really like

When Detective Abby Pearce moved back home to Martha’s Vineyard she was looking forward to a far less stressful life than she'd had in New York City. Unfortunately things don't seem to working that way but after solving a series of murders she is planning on some down time. When she gets a call about a frenzied attack on a family staying at an affluent, expensive, boutique hotel Abby realises murder can strike anywhere on the island.

Finding a survivor is a bonus, as an eye witness could be a game changer, but the teenage girl is traumatised, silent and unable to tell Abby and partner Teena anything. When links appear to a relocated New York mobster, and even Abby's late father, things begin to move in an increasingly dangerous direction and  everyone realises speed is of the essence if they are to prevent more deaths .

This is Dana Perry's second outing for Detective Abby Pearce and it brings a lot of loose ends from her past and the previous novel together. Although some things became clear quite quickly others were a definite surprise. I thoroughly enjoyed being proved right as well as having to think hard about who, what and why, which is a pretty good mix. Abby is a great protagonist and I enjoyed her back story which wove its way through everything she did, and how she now lives her life. The author's previous series was just two books and this could also stop quite satisfactorily here but I really hope it doesn't.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. I thoroughly enjoyed this it is a great read.

Abby is a detective on Martha’s Vineyard which is a small island in Dukes county, Massachusetts. Her previous posting was in New York until she lost her partner and her husband through her drinking- something she has now overcome but is still a demon in her life. A family, all but one, have been murdered- found by the maid, in a brutal stabbing and a chilling message has been written in blood on the wall. Why leave one and could she be the key to the whole thing? When things take a twist and Abby is reminded of her past- could this be personal either to Abby or the family in some way? I couldn't put this down- I found myself turning and turning and not wanting to stop- to me the sign of a good writer and a very well thought out plot. I like Abby and certainly Dana’s style of writing (although it kept me awake longer as I didn't want to stop!). This is the second on the Abby Pearce series and although it will happily stand alone, Abby’s background story will make more sense if the first one has been read. There are twists and turns all the way to the end and I didn't know who the culprit was despite a few fleeting suspicions along the way which I then discarded. An intriguing plot and a very realistic and likeable lead. Addictive, an excellent plot and brilliantly written- I couldn't ask for more and very much look forward to the next one.

A Gruesome Find…
The second in the Detective Abby Pearce series finds the Detective called to a beach house in the exclusive and well-off vicinity of Martha’s Vineyard. Five bodies await. This gruesome find ignites a catalogue of bizarre events. A fast moving, intriguing and compelling read and a worthy follow up for the series.

“He’d never had to deal with any real crime for most of his time as chief…until I came back to Martha’s Vineyard.”

Homicide detective Abby Pearce returned to her home of Martha’s Vineyard after the death of her partner and a divorce. She has her drinking under control (for now) and has settled in to small town policing. It’s summer tourist season, the island hotels are full and Abby is dealing with a rash of stolen street signs. Then a call comes in from the luxury Beach Hotel. Five people have been slaughtered: Thomas Lavelle, a prominent New York cardiologist, his wife, two young daughters and baby son. The only survivor is the Lavelle’s fifteen year old daughter Karin and she is near catatonic with shock. The horror continues when Karin’s grieving grandparents walk into her hospital room and demand to see Karin. This girl is a stranger.

The small Martha’s Vineyard police force faces almost constant pressure from the local, state and national press to solve the murders quickly and find the missing girl. All clues seem to end in dead alleys until Abby has an idea that will break the case. Will she be in time to save Karin…and herself?

This is the second in the Abby Pearce series although it reads like a standalone thriller. This series just keeps getting better! The location is atmospheric and gives every case a locked room (or island) plot. The characters, especially Teena and Lincoln (we now know everything about you, Mr. Connor), are well developed and add to the story. But the real star here is Abby. She’s trying to overcome her alcoholism, develop her career and find love. I can’t wait to see what she does next! 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Dana Perry for this ARC.
