I love all noodles. I’d eat them every day if I could (and there was a time that I did, and I blamed it on pregnancy cravings, but here I am 8 years later wishing I had still had an excuse).
That Noodle Life is a 75 recipe love letter to the incredible noodle from the global melting pot of pasta-obsessed cuisines and most have a striking photo to make you drool! Comfort food, convenient weeknight meals, and some incredible from-scratch recipes make this a must for noodle lovers looking for creative meals and pro tips on ingredients.
Thanks to Workman Publishing Company and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. That Noodle Life is scheduled for release on April 12, 2022.
A great book, filled with lots of unique recipes. Well set out and easy to follow - alongside mouthwatering pictures!
Like the authors, I am a lover of all things noodles! This cookbook was amazing and while I did try a few of the simpler recipes, I have several I will be trying at a later date. There is a little bit of everything here, from vegetarian to meat filled, lasagna, soups. I am a huge fan of ramen and pho recipes which I was pleasantly surprised to find here as well. They give you substitution ideas for some of the noodles if you cannot find the ones listed in the recipe, equipment guides, backstory and plenty of humor. (Please send noods).
This book is GORGEOUS! Every recipe has a beautiful color photo (a handful have two), great graphics throughout, the recipes have fun names, and the food all looks delicious! Even the recipes that I probably wouldn't make, look amazing. This book covers all kinds of noodles—from pho to ramen to lasagna.
Can not wait to seriously dig into so many recipes in this one. There are a few vegetarian recipes, but most are fairly meat heavy. This is one of the ARC copies that I am most definitely getting a hard copy of when it comes out. Thank you so much NetGalley for the ARC.
The Les bring the fun and flavor with this vibrant and information-packed cookbook. It's clever, conversational, and filled with gorgeous noodle deliciousness. I learned oodles about noodles and all that goes along with them, and I love the way this book demystifies dishes that I thought I could only get good versions of in a restaurant, like ramen and pho. I came away with new ideas for building bowls at home - and a ton of new dishes I can't wait to try. I started with more familiar noodles, and favorites so far are the Pumpkin Sage Mac and Cheese (and Lasagna), Cacio e Pepe Lobster Chitarra, and Kale and Mushroom Lasagna.
I received a digital pre-publication copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, and I'll be including it in a TBR round-up of new release cookbooks to broaden your culinary horizons in the spring. I will also be adding a hardcover edition to my permanent collection upon its April 2022 release.
A great variety of noodle-based dishes! The accompanying photos of each dish are beautiful and draw you into each recipe. I especially appreciate the inclusion of non-noodle recipes for ingredients for the main recipes, such as the garlic bread crumbs and chili oil.
Thank you to the Workman Publishing Company and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this wonderful book. This book explores different types of pasta from a variety of cuisines and teaches the reader the best ways to prepare and combine it with sauces. I loved the variety of recipes and am looking forward to trying some.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for honest feedback. I love reading cookbooks, and I love noodles, so this was an automatic request. The authors are professional food bloggers, so they have a lot of experience talking about cool foods! This book is packed with around 80 recipes centered on noodles, the highly versatile food. The versatility reflects its diversity, as well. Recipes are from Asian, Italian, American, and other cuisines. There are also a lot of high quality photographs which I expected from a book produced by pro food bloggers. I think in terms of the recipes, I would rate them as a good fit for amateur to advanced cooking skill sets. Some of them require ingredients that may be considered a bit specialist. I think that's a unique feature of this book and showcases its value. All in all, an interesting case study involving the cultural diversity of something so simple as a noodle!
I love noodles, so was very excited to see a whole recipe book dedicated to them. There are lots of delicious ideas in here, and lots of helpful tips too. One of the good things about this cookbook, is that there’s a photograph to match each recipe - I love that. It’s always helpful to know what you’re aiming for., and the photos are stunning.
For me, I found the recipes a little ambitious - I didn’t know what many of the ingredients were, nor where I can get them locally. These dishes are top of my list to eat, but maybe with someone else cooking them for me.
Thank you to Workman Publishing Company and Netgalley for an eARC of this book to read and review.
This is such a great cookbook. You are drawn in immediately by the vibrant colors, excellent food photography and compelling recipe titles. Each recipe makes you want to run into the kitchen and cook and I planned a noodle dish to cook up immediately, The Umami Bomb noodles were everything promised and a really successful dish with my family. For sure recommending this one to all the cooks and noodle lovers in my life.
Lots of variety. Asian noodles, pasta, instant noodles... it's all here. The authors get fun and creative. It's clear that they love all sorts of noodles. Just a straight up, good old-fashioned recipe book, there is a couple of pantry pages and then away you go. 8 different types of lasagna... EIGHT!
If you love noodles and a more bare bones approach to your recipe books, this is the one for you. The pictures are nice and there is a lot of variety in the book.
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC
This left me w bit confused. Was this supposed to be about pasta and Italian style dishes, or Asian noodles and things like ramen? It's unfocused, and too many ingredients would be on the difficult side to locate.
If they had focused on one cuisine or the other, it might have been more well received. I think people are going to pick this up expecting one thing and be disappointed when they figure it out it's something different entirely.
The upside though, is that almost every recipe has a picture and they're well composed. Most recipes have few ingredients, and simple instructions, but as I mentioned before, those ingredients might be difficult to source outside of larger populated areas.
Overall, I'm struggling to give this three stars and I will not be purchasing it.
Unable to review this book due to problem with download. Text is loading so large I can only see a few words at a time on the page.
I would still love to review if there is a different way to download it.
Thanks!
I really enjoyed this book! I've been trying to branch out and find different recipes to make from various cultures and this was perfect to dive into the different types of noodles and visually, very fun! I'm looking forward to making the new recipes (I've already tried a few Asian noodles and they were delicious!) and will share this will my family and friends.
I really loved this cookbook! A variety of noodles are featured. It has great pictures that really show you what you're making. It also has a lot great descriptions for ingredients some readers may not be familiar with.
Thank you to Netgalley, Workman Publishing Company, and Mike and Stephanie Le for providing me with a free ARC in exchange for an honest review!
As a major lover of noodles (and all carbs), I already knew from the description this was going to be a hit for me. However, I think this is one of my fave cookbooks ever! The recipes are so easy to follow, the layout is aesthetically pleasing, and there is a LOT of beginners info in the book. I love the Asian inspiration of this cookbook and I've learned so much about noodles that I didn't already know through Mike and Stephanie's comments in the beginning of the book, as well as their notes throughout on how to dress up noodles, different cultural traditions, and customizable meals. This book is absolutely informative and user friendly.
I am not a cook at all but one of my resolutions has been to make more of an effort this year, and this cookbook has already inspired me to try 2 of the recipes and they were easier than I imagined! I would definitely recommend this to ANYONE who loves pasta, and I'm buying a copy for my cookbook collection as soon as it releases.
OMG I love noodles and this recipe book is chalk full of perfect recipes that are so yummy and easy to follow.
Who doesn't love noodles? Who loves noodles that are not all pasta?! ME!
I love noodles from all over the world and this book had lots of different noodle recipes (not all pasta ones!)
The ARC I got was a little disorganised so maybe this will be sorted before they send it to print.
Loved the pics of the noodles. Made me super hungry. :)
I got very hungry reading this book. Noodles are life. This was chock full of recipes ranging from ridiculously simple to complex. There were also foods of all types origins: ramen, lasagna, egg ribbon noodles, and everything in between. It is also full of big beautiful that make me want to get in the kitchen so I can start eating.
I received an ARC, but my opinions are all mine.
I just love the rich variety of recipes that pack this book from beginning to end. There is a great range of cuisine styles that include the expected Italian, Chinese, Japanese standbys dishes and also a fair amount of pleasant surprises like laksa noodles from southeast Asia. There’s also a wonderful range of noodle dishes for all kinds of moods and occasions, including quick weeknight meals, fancier dishes requiring a bit more effort, dishes ideal for gatherings, to name just a few - and I greatly appreciate the fact that this such categories is literally how the authors have organized their chapters. Also, there’s probably nearly every single noodle-based flavor profile I could hope for and several that I didn’t know were out there until now.
Between the abundance of different options, plus the bountiful tips, pointers and other informative extras provided, I personally am as pleased as can be with “That Noodle Life.” I look forward to happily combing and re-combing its pages in the coming weeks for new ideas for tasty, slurpy, comforting dishes.
