If you like noodles, at all, give this awesome book a try. There are so many recipes and variations on noodles. Shake up your routine and try something new. Great photographs capture the deliciousness, and the explanations make the recipes manageable for any level of comfort in the kitchen.
I received an advanced copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own, freely given.
Thank you to NetGalley, Workman Publishing, and the authors for the ARC of That Noodle Life. in return for my honest review. This is a beautiful book even in digital form! The photography, design/fonts of the book are visually stunning! The recipes are so creative with fresh new twists on standard pasta dishes as well as brand new combinations. The authors provide so many flexible ingredient options for each recipe. The extras information provided about different noodle types as well as recipes on making your own noodles is very informative.
This is a perfect cookbook to add to the collection for an amateur cook or a well-seasoned home chef!
The recipes in here are great! Love the pictures and the fact that that they make the recipes look so mouth watering. If you love noodles, this book is for you!
Oh.My.Gosh. This book will have you licking the pages--everything looks so delicious. I love that a color photo is included with every recipe. The dishes are mostly simple to make with a short list of ingredients with a lot of focus on the pasta (and shape of the pasta). This will be a title I will buy!
The ebook formatting of this on Netgalley made it a little difficult to read, but the book is a wonderful variety of noodle recipes! It has a wide range of flavor profiles as well as difficulties, making sure there is something for everyone! The pictures in the book are gorgeous! The font choices were also great and made it very pleasing to look at. I appreciate that there were recipes from different cuisines around the world, and not just Italian recipes which are so often what you find in noodle cookbooks. I also appreciated that there were recipes for making pasta itself and that the book didn't rely solely on boxed pastas!
i will say the photos and font selection were amazing. I really also liked how it was written in a way anyone could understand such as type of noodles to what type of dish and even noodle substitutions. This was great and i cannot wait to make some of these
This book is very well presented, informative and adorable. There is a whole page of haikus about different noodles types. And they are not snobby, the book goes from crayfish noodles all the way to ways to use instant noodles. I made the "secret ingredient noodles". The recipe was easy to follow (except that all measurements were in American. Butter comes in sticks or tablespoons apparently).
The book is easy to follow, although arranged in an eclectic manner, with noodle recipes and information scattered throughout. It is a great resource and I'm looking forward to making more of the recipes.
Who doesn’t love noodles? This book is a deep dive into the saucy carbs that I definitely love to eat. I loved the writing, the passion of the authors really came through. The book is broken up into sections based on the style of the dish, but the influence changes all throughout the section (I.e. Italian, Asian, Mexican). I think this is a fun read but I did wish that the book was organized a little bit more clearly.
This pasta cookbook "That Noodle Life" by bloggers Mike Le and Stephanie Le is one of the best guide and recipe book for pasta lovers! They give you tons of information on noodles and plenty of easy recipes to try! The colorful photographs for each recipe entices the reader to try preparing the dish. I love the table of contents which lists each chapter, in a very descriptive way, like chapter 3 "Please Send Noods" and Chapter 7 "living Your Best Noodle Life". This cookbook will be a wonderful addition to any cook's library!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
I do have to confess that my digital copy had some errors and omissions which I am sure will be fixed by publication. So I could not read every recipe, but the recipes were really interested, everything was well photographed and I enjoyed reading the book. I am not at all expecting this to have had tons of vegetarian options, but it does have very few. Quite a lot of things include . . . pork jowl? I was confused on how to find a number of ingredients, but at the back of the book is a great guide for how to find the ingredients. If you like noodles and don't mind lots of pork, this would be a great tasty looking cookbook for you!
Holy Noodles Batman! This cookbook is a ‘must have’ if you love noodles! Mike and Steph Le have put together a collection of recipes and other important noodle info from their travels around the world. They state that if one reads and cooks this book from beginning to end they will be a seasoned noodle pro and possibly a noodle master. This cookbook is written by an author who knows their noodles, including many tips on which pasta to cook, how to cook it perfect every time, and many pictures of Asian ingredients that will elevate our home cooking and where to purchase them. Personally, I discovered some secrets on how to improve my Yakisoba sauce from this book and I can’t wait to try it!
But it’s not all Asian dishes like Pho, although there’s lots of that too. In fact there’s a whole couple pages, with pictures, on how to make cheap ramen noodles into something restaurant quality with a few easy ingredients. There is also an entire chapter dedicated to LASAGNA! And the first chapter, titled, “Cozy Noods for Cozy Moods” includes some amazing yummy recipes for French Onion Mac and Cheese and Pumpkin Sage Mac and Cheese. Who doesn’t LOVE MAC AND CHEESE?! The author wants us all to “live our best noodle life” so I recommend we all preorder this cookbook for ourselves and our friends and do just that!
Thank you to Netgalley, Workman Publishing, and Mike & Steph Le for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a great work of art! The authors clearly know their stuff and are able to share their experience in a concise way to follow with tips and tricks asking the way.
The beautiful pictures full of color add to this, and make this a great one-stop read for all things noodles, the basics of noodle shapes, homemade pasta vs. dried, and sauces, ranging from Italian to the wide range of Asian presentations. Highly recommend!
Such a joy to noodle over! Pardon the pun. This books is vibrant, full of great recipes, and visually fun. We are a noodle-loving house and I’m always looking for more recipes, these fit the bill and more. It would also make a wonderful gift!!
3.5 stars
Appealing pictures, a variety of recipes, & helpful tips & tricks make this a great recipe book for any noodle lover! My main quibble is the organization of the recipes; an index with other sorting methods would have helped.
[What I liked:]
•Appealing photos of the finished recipes, as well as photos of equipment, types of noodles, etc., help educate & whet the appetite.
•An assortment of classic recipes (spaghetti & meatballs) plus some twists on old favorites (pumpkin sage mac & cheese), plus recipes from a few different culinary traditions (mainly Italian & East Asian) gives options that can appeal to different tastes.
•There are nice tips on cooking noodles, how to cook noodles in sauce, different types of noodles, etc. Throughout the book are also inserts on using certain ingredients, how to dress up instant noodles, how to build noodle bowls, etc.
[What I didn’t like as much:]
•The recipes are arranged by occasion (comfort food, potluck/large groups, quick & easy, etc. I would really appreciate an index in the back to look up recipes by main ingredient, style (cold or hot, etc.), cuisine, vegetarian, etc.
•This is a nit picky criticism because this book is not marketed as such, but there are few vegetarian recipes, & I think only one vegan one. Plus, again, having an index could help with finding those since they’re mixed in with the meat & dairy based recipes.

This is a nice book on noodles!
There's information on making noodles from scratch, cooking different kinds of noodles, and how to order ramen in Japan. There's a lot of recipes from lasagna to pho with helpful guidance and beautiful pictures. There's also recipes for sauces and recommendations for various ingredients. There's also tips for some of the recipes to help you enjoy your noodles however they're made.
Overall an interesting read!
