Ritch's Witchy Coffee started off as an incredibly charming read. As I am currently re-watching Gilmore Girls (a favourite autumn activity) and watching Halloween-inspired movies, this book seemed to tick all the right boxes. Charming little town, an element of witchcraft, strong female relationships, and copious amounts of coffee. On paper, it is perfect.

And, quite frankly, it would have been perfect if either of those two things had happened: a) the book was at least 100 pages longer, or b) there was no romantic subplot whatsoever. Let me explain: the book is too short, and as a result, the romance between Florence and Samson is barely explored - seriously, I couldn't figure out when these two managed to develop feelings for each other, as we barely saw them interact with one another. It's not that I hated the romance, per se, I just didn't see any reason for it, as I thought it wasn't properly developed. I think the story would have been even better if we had only seen Florence reconnecting with her town and the women of her family, in a book that would be a bit more girl-power, rather than a romance.

Other than that, I have no other complaints. Witchy Coffee was just a book that hit the spot, filling the Gilmore Girls- shaped hole in my life (Rory is already becoming too annoying, I don't think I can handle it much longer).

The scenery and the mood of this book was awesome. It was quick-paced, funny and cute. I loved the enemies to lovers trope. I’d definitely recommend this cute romance.

Witchy Coffee might have come out in the fall, but it's the perfect holiday read. Erin Ritch makes the reader wish that they could take a vacation to the Pacific Northwest and visit this little town where magic is happening. Ritch truly brought each character to life and gave them the perfect world to live in. I can only hope that she writes a sequel to this!

This was such a cute story. I loved the magical element. There were lots of laughs with this one.

A enemies to lovers story that I really enjoyed. There could have been more between the two. I felt it was a bit rushed and didn’t really get to embrace there attraction and see it really play out since there were so few scenes with the two. However, I still enjoyed it.

Definitely a feel good read for me. I love the hard work. Erin set the restaurant growth up nicely and realistically. So many times, I feel like businesses in books look like the owner/managers do nothing but this showed a lot of hard work went into the business even though it was an overnight success. Definitely worth a read!

I it was a very, warm, cozy and interesting read. I liked the premise of the book and the execution was not bad either. It is the perfect day to relax while sipping a cup of hot coffee. Although I found the plot to be a little predictable. I enjoyed the witchy aspect of the book the most. it was a good read but something which has not been done before. If you like contemporary books or books with witches, then you might like it.

A fun, light hearted, read. It definitely could have been longer allowing more character development. It left me wanting to know more about Florence and her family.

A lit read with a Halloween twist. While I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would I don't regret reading it.

This was a DNF for me.

I really wanted to like this book. The title instantly piqued my interest, but that sadly wasn’t enough.

I made it through the first 5 chapters and was underwhelmed by the characters, feeling like they were lacking any development. The plot was so unrealistic that I found myself rolling my eyes.

I hate not finishing a book, and tried to give this one a chance on multiple occasions. Unfortunately it became painful to even read a few pages without wanting to switch to a different book.

I don't typically pick up books without knowing anything about them, but this sounded like a fun read, so I decided to take a chance on it. Overall, I had a good time, as this was a quick read with a cosy, fun setting. I wasn't blown away by it though, especially because I found the writing to be lacking, and I didn't really feel invested in the romance. A bonus was the setting of the holiday season though!

This was such a cute witchy read! Taking place during the Christmas/New Years timeframe, this small town story of family and friendships was a sweet one.

With brief magical references and activities, this is very light on the ‘witch’ theme. The story is more focused on how a family comes together to try and save their little family coffee shop in a small Oregon coastal town.

It’s light and breezy, sweet and charming. The characters are friendly and this was the perfect little read for me as I needed a break between some heavier thriller reads.

I've always wanted to go to Portland and after reading this book...I MUST. I was looking for a book to kick off my spooky season and I'm so happy I found this book. Caffeine, witchy and romance. The perfect combination for a spellbinding book. It screams rom com. I loved it. If you're looking for a quick simple read that gives you Hallmark feels this is it.

A fun and cozy read. It's more a contemporary romance than a paranormal romance. The paranormal twists were subtle and not overly present. On the whole a good and enjoyable read. The plot , characters especially florrence were all so good. The author's style was so clear and precise.Weekends would be a best time to read this book !

First, intriguing title. Certainly, piqued my interest. I’m always up for magic and good beverages.

Okay, I must get this off my chest. This book demanded a lot out of me. If a trial of patience was part of the initiation to a coven of witches, I’d be one of the sisters by now. It took me more than a month to get through the first half of the book. The story up until then was nice but only nice. I didn’t feel connected to the plot or the characters until the halfway mark. Then I finished the second half within a day.

The story felt all over the place, especially in the beginning. And the plot resolved in the most unexpected way. Might even call the ending a bit rushed. Normally this would be a bad sign. But in this case, it mirrored the journey of the main character (MC). Florence Mackenzie.

When we meet Florence, to be polite, she was a hot mess. On every page, she seemed frantic and frazzled. In one instant, we find her yelling at her ex in the middle of his store. And at some other people (we’ll get back to these other people later *side-eye*). Her vibe screamed slightly overdramatic and manufactured drama. I felt exhausted just reading about her.

Now, let me backtrack a little. Florence is a barista. She got fired from her job at Sam’s ‘Spresso (a huge coffee cart chain in Portland) just before her Christmas break because the owner listened to her evil co-workers. So she carts herself off to her seaside hometown, Windia, to lick her wounds and figure out her next move. Windia, where the Mackenzie family runs a coffee shop nicknamed “The Yurt”. The Mackenzie family consisting of our MC Florence, her niece Diana, her sister-in-law Mia, and her witchy grandmother Pearl. On a side note, Pearl gave me major deja vu for Betty White’s character in the movie The Proposal (the one starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds). Any Betty White character really. Wise and slightly crazy. Okay, back to Witchy Coffee.

Enter our romantic interest, Samson Richards. Sam’s son. A.k.a. the Sam-that-fired-Florence-from-Sam’s ‘Spresso’s son. And as if that’s not enough cause for Florence to have beef with him, he’s rolled up with an offer to buy The Yurt from the Mackenzies. Suffice to say, that does not go over well. Flying baked goods were involved. And he is one of the afore-mentioned "other people".

Then, to give a taste of healthy competition, Samson sets up a coffee cart in the town square. And the Mackenzies (and Florence’s best friend Harper) take up arms to meet the challenge. Said arms involve Wiccan magic and a new coffee blend that seems equivalent to a love potion. And the other "other people" is a mysterious fairy godmother-like character (although Pearl uses the word enchantress) selling the magic coffee beans. The Mackenzies’ mission – to drive Samson Richards out of town.

Although the cover and description give the vibe of bewitching romance, I found that this was more in line with Florence running away from herself and her hometown after the deaths of her mother and brother. And rediscovering herself and the magic she left behind. Her family is the bridge that connects her to herself. And Samson is the catalyst, that pushes her forward on her journey.

A fine but not remarkable read. The premise of this book is cute, but the characters feel a bit underdeveloped even for a romance. I didn't feel like I knew our main characters very well, so it was kind of hard to root for them. I was shocked to learn the author actually grew up in the Oregon, the over-reliance on PNW stereotypes was often garring for me as someone who grew up in Oregon. But overall, the plot was fun and it was a quick and lighthearted read.

You know what I enjoyed this quirky and light read! I gave it two stars and it's a bit unfair, but it's just not very good literature. Also, whoever briefed this book cover did this book wrong!

Anyway, we follow some women in a small town who try to put up events to save their independent coffee shop as a major chain is looking to open up. There is a budding romance between characters of opposite sides. That was cute and all, however the characters felt a bit superficially developed and not always consistent.

A lot of people mentioned it, but there are strong Gilmore Girls vibes, also Practical Magic. The way the 'witchcraft' is approached is iffy at worst, but surprisingly lovely at best.

A recommend if you enjoy women's fiction that is light and feel good and without too much substance.

This charming "witchy" romance was a quick and uncomplicated read.

A typical enemies-to-lovers story, the plot was much lighter on magic than I was expecting. In fact, there wasn't much blatant "witchiness" until the concluding moments of the novel.

Think more "Simply Irresistible" than "Charmed."

But the quirky small-town vibes were pleasant enough, and made the novel read like the most enchanting of Hallmark movies.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lacey Chabert starring in the film version of the book, in a new Hallmark film series called "Spellbinding Summer Nights."

Thank you to Netgalley and publishers for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A quaint story with a tight knit family. I found the writing to be fine, and the story quite simple. There weren't any twists or turns, so all in all it felt very straightforward, but lacked any kind of wow factor to make it memorable.

I had hoped there would have been more witchiness involved, given the title, but unfortunately that area was hardly explored.

A quick and easy read.

In an effort to read all of the “witchy” books on my NetGalley shelf, I picked this up. It was a quick read, and it was fine. I loved parts of it, but some of it just didn’t work for me. Its definitely a Christmas/New Year’s book, so it didn’t have the Halloween vibe I was looking for.

Thanks to @NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my ARC!
