Heartbreak turned into a feel good story. Lovely winter story. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this book
Nothing like a family filled love story to start the holiday season. A great story that warmed the heart ….. perfect for a cold fall or winter night. This story had me wanting to punch Ben and then smiling for the rest of the book.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was cozy and heartwarming and it put me in a Christmas mood!
This was such a cute Hallmark like novel. I loved the slow burn, small town Christmas romance with the sweet hot local love interest. The cute friendships made the main character so endearing. The plot was a little slow but overall I enjoyed the book.
I have read a few of Karen's books and this one has been my favourite so far. A heart-warming book with characters that you can relate to.
A cute Christmas read! This book is sure to make for a great, cozy read for the holidays. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys light hearted holiday reads.
This ended up being such a cute novel, but it was a little long and Hallmark-y for my taste.
Things I liked:
•Happily Ever After
•Hot small town love interest
•Christmas romance
•Family
•slow burn
•Lexi’s cute friendship with an elderly man
Things I disliked:
•Lexi pushed Christmas down everyone’s throat
•The tree being torn down was such a big plot point
•Both Lexi and Joel had recently gotten out of relationships where their significant other cheated
•Yarn bombing, fr?
•Hallmark-esque
Overall, while the ending was adorable the main plot points were too unbelievable for me. I also felt as if the plot went on way too long and found myself skimming to finish the book (the skimming started at 20% for me, and got progressively worse).
Thank you NetGalley, Karen King and Headline for the copy of The Best Christmas Ever. This is my personal review.
I loved this book so much! I cared so much about the characters in the story.
Lexi goes home for Christmas after a huge betrayal by her boyfriend. It was just what she needed to mend her broken heart, but she refused to let that be the thing that ruined her holiday at home.
The author gave the story the perfect mixture of people and I was completely involved in the book.
The story is just what we all need in our lives right now. Grab this book and enjoy the warmth it gives you and the happiness it fills your heart with. This is a perfect beginning to all your holiday reading.
I really enjoyed this book. It was so heartwarming and full of Festive cheer and love.
I really loved that at the beginning of the book there is drama and Lexi's reaction to it. She's upset for a while but doesn't stop her from enjoying Christmas and getting stuck in with family traditions like she always has.
I love the kindness that Joel and Lexi show Lloyd.
The image of Christmas morning is absolutely perfect. It's all the things I love about Christmas day in my family.
The triumphant part towards the end of the book made so emotional, the community happiness is so nice. There is another wonderfully emotional part in this book, I absolutely cried my eyes out. You'll know what I mean when you read it.
What a fabulous book, I laughed, I cheered, I cried, I swooned and I loved it.
Great book for curling up with a warm drink and blanket in front of the fire. This was such a cute feel good story. I will definitely be looking for more titles from this author
This book just made me want to light my candles, snuggle up on the sofa with my throwover and a mug of hot chocolate. It was such a lovely read and I loved the characters
Lexi is going to spend Christmas with her whole family in Devon for the first time with her boyfriend Ben. She then discovers that he's been having an affair. She tells him it's over and goes down to Devon earlier than planned. Loved this book very Christmassy.
A lovely cosy Christmas read, the characters a very well written and loveable, This is a real curl up nice and comfy to enjoy this but it is one that can be read at any time of the year. Well done Karen King this is a 5 star novel.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC
I DNFed this at about 38% in. The writing felt a bit repetitive. The same personality traits for each characters kept being repeated as if that was the only personality trait the character had. They felt very flat. But I think the real reason I dnfed this book is because it was boring, I had no desire to pick the book up and keep reading, it was starting to put me into a reading slump so I decided rather than forcing myself to read it...I wouldn't. The plot felt like nothing. One main character grew up in the small town and loves the Christmas carol and tree lighting in the center of town in December every year and other main character is a tree surgeon who is going to cut down the tree. The local is upset that the tree is going to cut down and tries to stop the other character. Like really? the entire plot is about whether or not to cut down a tree because it will ruin Christmas tradition? There are so many solutions to this problem its not even funny, do the carol at another spot in town, plant a new tree, find a new spot with a new tree, don't get mad at someone who is simply doing their job (cutting down sick trees) and don't potential ruin your business trying to save one persons feelings that could be saved in multiple other ways. It just felt really ridiculous and I couldn't read about someone being heart broken over a tree anymore.
This is a wonderful book to get you in the Christmas spirit. It's full of family, fun and Christmas cheer.
Grab a cup of hot cocoa, your favorite throw and curl up for a cute read. There is one part that might offend some people, if not for that it would have been a 5 star read.
Thank you Headline via NetGalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Many times Christmas stories can be told anytime of the year. The author may just throw some decorations or parties in to make it about Christmas. But this book is definitely about Christmas and saving and enjoying old traditions. It's also a story about life giving you lemons and you make lemonade. Good holiday read.
Thank you to Headline, Karen King and Netgalley for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review!!
What a cute Christmas story! Filled with family fun, reunions, and all the Christmas cheer, The Best Christmas Ever is about healing a broken heart, finding new live, and the importance of family.
Lexi is a huge fan of Christmas and enjoys helping others not only have the best Christmas they can, but the best life they can. Her adorable and fun Grandma Mabe envelops the same spirit!!
I loved all of the family fun and excitement, especially the parts about not drinking Craig’s (the dads) homemade drinks!! The Christmas aspect is fun as well. And who wouldn’t love a Christmas tree in their bedroom?!?
The writing of this story fell a bit flat for me. The plot, the characters, the fun was all there, but there are some parts that could have been improved if written differently.
Take yourself on a trip to a small English town and decide for yourself!!!!
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
Lexis loves Christmas, and this year, she’s really looking forward to it, as it’s the first with her boyfriend Ben and her older brother is coming from Canada along with his family. The whole family will be together at her parents' house in Devon.
Surprising Ben at work, she sees him kissing someone, and finds out he’s been having an affair. So, she’s absolutely shocked and devastated, she decides to go home, to Devon alone.
Not wanting her break-up to ruin the family Christmas, Lexi tries to put it behind her and sge discovers the council isn’t going to let the tree on the green to be decorated this year, as it’s dangerous and has to be cut down. Lexi waves to save the tradition of her family and make this Christmas more special than last year.
So will Lexi be able to save the tree and get over the heartache whilst doing so…….
I do like a Christmas book and this didn't disappoint, Lexi is left broken hearted and travels home, the story is predictable (as with so many) and we know how it will end, but we don't know how they get there, curl up with a hot chocolate and enjoy
The Best Christmas Ever - Karen King
I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Headline and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Lexi Forde adores Christmas. She's especially looking forward to it this year as it's the first Christmas with her boyfriend Ben and her older brother is visiting from Canada with his family. They'll all be spending Christmas at her parents' house in Devon.
But when Lexi surprises Ben at work, she sees him kissing someone else and discovers he's been having an affair. Devastated, she travels to Devon alone.
With a title like this - this book had a lot to live up to. Of course, like every good Christmas book the ending of this book is predictable - but the main part of the story is what obstacles are overcome to get to the predictable happy ending. King has written a number of characters that you would happily class as family and others that you would be happy to see the back of.
It is a heart-warming and cosy read that will leave you wanting to enjoy Christmas in a small village just to enjoy the excess Christmas spirit. I have added this book to the ever growing list of festive books that I will be recommending this year.
