I do love a good Christmas book and this one didn't disappoint. Loveable characters, a good (if somewhat predictable) storyline. Curl up by the fire with a cuppa and pose yourself in the story just like I did.

Who doesn't love a romantic Christmas read no matter what time of year it is, while the storyline is somewhat predictable it didn't stop my enjoyment of the book, loved the characters and it was beautifully written, I got lost in the story and my favourite character was Lloyd and liked the way he was reunited with his son

This is a wonderfully written story. The only thing that was missing is reading it by Blizzard conditions.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have not read any other books by this author, but I like to read books with a Christmas theme. This book covers the two weeks from just before Christmas through to early January. It has all the ingredients for a Christmas book - a romantic breakup, going home to family, meeting new people and lots of references to decorations, carol singing and Christmas - themed food and drink. The author has included references to Covid, and the restrictions around Christmas last year which was a very nice touch, and I loved the side-story about yarn bombing - so topical, and great fun. Some detail is overly descriptive, such as 3 written lines describing how to make a cup of tea. It also seems strange that Joel gets sawdust in his eye although he says he 'follows safety procedures' - not wearing goggles though? Some readers might find the short sexy scene a little too descriptive, but there is sufficient build-up to expect it, and I did not think it was out of place.
In all, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it as a good Christmas read. I have signed up to follow this author.

Thanks to Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I wanted to like this book but I found it to be a predictable plot line. Girl discovers boy cheating. Girl goes home for Christmas alone. Girl meets new boy. You know how it will end. My favorite character is Lloyd but he kinda fades into the background after Christmas passes. I think my strong dislike is that it is written in third person where as I prefer first person point of view stories. My advice would be to pass on this Christmas story.

The Best Christmas Ever by Karen King.

With thanks to #Netgalley and #Headline for an ARC of #TheBestChristmasEver by #KarenKing.

Lexi loves Christmas and despite having her heart broken she heads off to her parents house in Devon determined to make the most of the festive season.
Once there, lexi is sad to learn that there will be no christmas tree in the village this year.
The fight is on to save the tree and to mend Lexi’s broken heart.

I really did enjoy this light hearted, festive read.
There are some fabulous characters. Who doesn’t love a feisty granny and a cute, but slightly mad dog.

This book is warm, funny and full of festive cheer. It truely champions the importance of family and friendships.

Ok, so the ending was a little predictable, but that’s not a bad thing, because the journey to get there is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Five festive, fun stars from me.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a beautiful festive read. Some may say it’s too predictable but personally I liked the fact that I pretty much knew what I’d be getting when I started reading it.

I love a good Christmas story and this had some wonderful elements to it. Lexi's family was great, especially her energetic and mischievous grandmother. And the idea of a group of yarn-bombers was new and entertaining to me.

However, I found Lexi to be a bit repetitive at times, and there were British terms that, as an American reader, I could only guess at. It was easy enough to interpret "baubles" as "ornaments," but there was something they kept doing to the dog ("fuffing" I think?) that seemed to be something more specific than petting, but I'm not certain.

Anyway, there were some lovely elements to the story regardless. I enjoyed how Lexi's enthusiasm for the holidays brought joy into the lives of those around her, even as she was struggling with the recent demise of her relationship.

As someone who typically reads sweet romance, the bulk of the story fit that genre, and then suddenly took a turn at the end that seemed unnecessary to me.

So, I have mixed feelings about the book. I found myself caring more about a secondary character (Joel's elderly neighbor) than the main characters at times.

Like a lot of books I’ve read recently, this is a book where you could write the ending yourself after a couple of chapters. Some may find this a negative, but for me, that’s one of the selling points. It’s what I’ve come to expect. If I was reading a thriller or a murder mystery, then sure, I wouldn’t want it to be easy to figure out the ending. But for a book like this, the happily-ever-after type as I’ve christened them, if I got to the end and there was suddenly a massive twist, I would be massively disappointed.

There are a number of characters, each of whom are individuals; some you want in your life, and some you would happily kick out. We see what Christmas means to young professionals, older workers, retirees, grandparents, and children. But overall, we see what Christmas means to a family. We see, when all is said and done, what is important to us all. And that is love and family and friendship.

It is realistic but whimsical, and funny and heart warming all at once. The amount of cosy books I’ve read recently, this one included, that have made me fall in love with quaint little villages! Keystone in Devon sounds absolutely wonderful, and I’m a little annoyed that it’s not actually real. I am desperate to move out of a busy town and into one of these beautiful communities, but I’ve heard a rumour that you need money for that, annoyingly.

The first Christmas book I read this year is a...cracker! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

This is a multi-generational story set in the charming home village of Lexi, back home for the holidays but not with whom she thought was a wonderful boyfriend in tow. With a Christmas-mad family (including a Grandma who she's worried will get arrested at any moment), a new hunky man on the block looking for a new start whilst trying to keep a nutty but sweet pooch on the leash (I'll stop), this was a book I found very difficult to put down.

Wonderful situations that are just the right side of realistic to keep you on the edge of your seat; characters you will root for - and some you'd quite happily kick in the behind - this is the perfect start to your Christmas reading. I would say; don't delay, pre-order today!

My thanks to the author, Headline Accent and Netgalley for the ARC.

I really enjoyed this book, it has everything you need in a Christmas book, good characters, excellent scenery, great plot and, my favourite....crazy and hilarious OAPs. Honestly this was such a nice book

A lovely book.. Covid gently mentioned in the most perfect way. Karen king gets five stars for that. Ben was an idiot. It was hiss loss.. Lexi was a lovely person and loved her family. Her grandmother and the knitting was brilliant. At first I thought another Christmas love story but there was so much more. Saving trees and lonely old people as well as falling in love. . I liked how it was written in days. I likes Lloyd and Libby’s brothers . As for Joel a great character

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Lexi is excited about seeing her family at Christmas. Sgexwas going to bring her boyfriend, until she caught him cheating. She enjoys the holiday with her family and meets Joel in the process. This book was cute, well written and but you in the holiday spirit.

I received an advance copy of, The Best Christmas Ever, by Karen King. Lexi does not think it will be her best Christmas ever, after catching her boyfriend with another woman.

I do love a Christmas book and one set around the main character going back home for Christmas are me favourites. This one hit all the targets for me

After finding out her boyfriend is cheating Lexi goes home to her family in Devon and on arriving finds that the council won’t allow the Christmas tree on the green to be decorated. This is one of her favourite family traditions and she sets out to make sure that this isn’t also ruined.

Such a lovely story and a great cast of characters, I was really rooting for Lexi and hoping she got her perfect Christmas!
