This was a slow burn book, I wasn't straight into it, but I felt that there wasn't any "filler" so it was probably just me, I liked the way the character were written and it does leave you wanting more

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Penguin for my advanced reader copy of this book.

One Night on the Island follows Cleo, a writer who’s editor requests that she marry herself on a remote island for her dating column. However, what she envisioned for herself doesn’t play out when she finds herself in a double-booking situation with Mack, a grumpy, yet undeniably handsome American, who insists that her cosy cottage is actually his.

This truly felt like the ultimate comfort read! Josie Silver’s writing is so atmospheric that I was completely transported into the world of Salvation Island. The forced proximity trope was probably one of my favourite things about this book, it was so well written that I was absolutely rooting for this slow burn romance to actually happen!

There were so many great side characters in this book, I loved the focus on the female friendships and how welcoming everyone on Salvation Island were.

I found myself getting a little bit annoyed by Cleo’s character because she was just so rude to Mack at the beginning and the bad blood between the two felt a bit silly but once these things started to calm down, I did really enjoy this one and loved how well it all came together at the end.

Highly recommend this book if your looking for a cute, cosy read with a whole lot of heart!

One Night on the Island by Josie Silver is a lovely story of two strangers - Cleo and Mac - who meet and agree to make the best of their time together stuck on a remote Irish island. Each is seeking some solitude - Cleo as part of a 30th birthday ritual foisted on her by her boss, and Mac in search of his roots and some clarity. I loved the development of their relationship, and the nuances of the other characters in the story - Silver paints a wonderful picture of the island community.
With thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After reading and enjoying one day in December, I went into this expecting another nicely written Rom com… boy was I wrong.

The writing in this book can only be described as beautiful, for want of not sounding a cliche, I’d probably go as far to say poetic. It is incredibly rare for a book to make me cry, but I found myself very emotional reading this and that completely took me by surprise. I think it is a testament to the quality and depth of the writing and I can’t sing it’s praises enough! The scene setting and relationships within the story are wonderful and it reminded me of all the reasons I love Ireland.

For me, I don’t think the book needed the “self-coupling” element. It felt a bit woke and millennial and to be honest was not that necessary within the grand scheme of the book. That knocked half a star off for me but this is a solid 4.5/5 read and I have already recommended it to a friend.

This is the first Josie Silver book I have read. Thank you Netgalley for approving me to read this.

I did feel the book was a bit slow to get into at first but I soon flew through it. I loved the characters of Chloe and Mack and how the book was written from a dual point of view. The 3 things in the dark was one of my favourite parts. The author writes beautiful characters. The description of the island and the people who lived there were so realistic and I loved the strong and diverse group of women Chloe got friendly with.

I wasn't sure how the book was going to end but am happy with how it played out.

After LOVING One Day In December, I was thrilled to be given an advanced copy of One Night on the Island and it did not disappoint.

As soon as I was introduced to Cleo and Mack, I was rooting for them to get together. Their chemistry was so clear and I loved how they whispered secrets to each other in the darkness every night. The residents on the island were great supporting characters and made for great friends that encouraged Cleo and Mack from the start!

I will certainly be recommending this to everyone. Thanks NetGalley.

I was so looking forward to this, and I was not disappointed at all. This really was so adorable and I loved the chemistry between the main characters. This has dual POV, which I thought was so good, unique and distinct voices between them, I do love when get both perspectives in a story. The story was engaging, addictive and I wanted more when it was over it was that good. I love Josie’s books and as always I felt the writing was amazing and she never fails to make me melt or take me on an emotional journey

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I started this book thinking the premise of marrying oneself was something I probably couldn’t get on board with and that was the last time I thought that. Once Cleo had arrived on the island, the book took on a whole different vibe which I am glad to say was not lost at any point. The relationship between Cleo and Mack is beautifully written, it is the most wonderful depiction of love that I have read. Maybe ever. I also loved the island, feeling as if I was living there right along side them. The relationships Cleo forged with the islanders was also an element that I loved and all of that added to the fabric of the story. The ending was just what I’d hoped although I couldn’t work out how it was going to happen. Brilliant.

Thank you to #NetGalley for the advance copy of #OneNightOnTheIsland by #JosieSilver.
Pure escapism and just what the doctor ordered on a miserable weekend in February.
Loved it

I had heard lots of positive reviews about Josie Silver and her books. I was excited to have the chance to read a preview copy of this book.
Sadly for me, I didn't enjoy reading it as much as I expected to. It took me a long time to get into the story.
I didn't really warm to either of the protagonists. I thought that Cleo's self-coupling was a bit silly. Although she went on to explain why she thought that the age of 30 was old, as a Women in her mid 40s, it just seemed daft to me. Maybe I'm too old and out of touch for this book.
I did finish it, and it did get better, but I really struggled to read it.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

Love Josie Silver - her books never fail to leave you feeling warm and cosy!
This book is no exception.

I feel that this book was not as original as perhaps some of her other books but I still very much enjoyed it.

Josie Silver has a way of writing both male and female characters that feel so real and realistic. They are flawed, but still relatable.

If you want an easy read then this is the one for you.

I really enjoyed this book and the author really writes so beautifully. The story of finding oneself, of sorting out loyalties and love, and of balancing the differing needs of people is really well explored.

Clio and Mack are just amazing characters and I loved their journey. .

I thought it took a while too long to get started and I found the plethora of characters a little overwhelming and difficult to follow at times. However, it’s still a 4 star read and I’ll be searching out more books by this author.

There was something so easy about reading the book. The characters were very likeable and easy to relate to. The setting of the story charming and easy to put yourself there.
A romance but with so much more. Two individuals finding themselves and moving to the next stages in their lives.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this charming and slightly magical story.

I have now read all of Josie's books and they all follow the same beautiful pattern. It's not a typical Romance. I loved both main characters. Cleo was so funny and relatable. I wasn't sure about Mack to start with with but he soon warmed up to me.

I don't know what it is is but I just love the writing. It's so magical and mesmerising. I just sobbed the whole way through. That's how powerful the writing was.

I love how the story spans over a longer period of time rather than just that one setting.

It is a very enjoyable easy read and I was interested in the characters and outcome from the start. It is written from the perspective of the two main characters and I enjoyed finding out about each of them. One thing to note though is the language, a few times there is swearing, and although it’s not excessive, it is present so thought it worth a mention. Overall, it’s well written with an interesting plot. Thank you #netgalley.

This book packs a punch. I can feel it taking root deep in my heart.

I expected a fun and flirty, oops there's only one bed, vibe to One Night on the Island, and while yes, there was only one bed, the story was so much more than that. It was profoundly moving, a self-growth and self-acceptance journey for both main characters. The friendships they forged were heartwarming and honest and such a necessary addition for both Mack and Cleo to grow. I would thoroughly recommend this book; it contains powerful and lovely words that I doubt anyone wouldn't enjoy it.
